Good morning all. That's interesting @Ladybird4. Sunny, but very cold morning. I can see ice in my pond, at least with one good eye. When we were in walk yesterday, something flew into my left eye. Luckily I have ointment and drops to was eyes, but it's still irritating. So it will be mostly another indoor day. Hope your weather improved since yesterday.

Good morning @Ante1. Sorry to hear about your eye injury and hope it recovers soon. I keep hearing all the warnings on TV about heavy snow due today which will last into next week. Fingers crossed it might pass me by!

        Good morning everyone!!

Grey and dismal again -no rain and no wind though. It's about 6°C. Rain is expected on Monday.
Some cutting and pruning today hopefully.

I hope your eye is okay @Ante1 The drops should help.

            Cold.

I’m going to venture out to collect my shopping then it’s hibernation mode all weekend. Take care if you have to go out this icy weekend.

This is most strange but when it finally got light enough for me to see, there is no frost at all here. The water droplets on the leaves and garden lights are liquid, not frozen. Sky is the colour of putty (for those of you who can remember that substance!)
I've just put a cake in the oven so I won't be straying far. I'm expecting an Ocado delivery between 18:00 and 19:00 so it will be indoor stuff today. Time for more knitting.

Morning all, very wet but mild this morning. We have just taken down our decorations apart from our outside lights around our terrace, OH says he will leave them until it stops raining! that could be a long time!
OH saw a Boar crossing our field this morning which is very unusual as they normally keep to the wooded areas, he thought it was a large dog until he saw its tusks.

Yes despite the temp being only 1 degree, the car was hardly frosted this morning. Noticed some on the house roof and corner of garden though that hasn’t melted since it formed. The sky looking heavy (putty is a good description) now so I hope it wafts off to the sea so none of us have snow.

Still having a few bad moments and days. Thank goodness Poppy cat has stopped calling for him. I will be collecting his ashes on Monday, very difficult. Reality kicks in again.

Greetings all. It is persisting down here with a dull, grey blanket of cloud just sitting there cos there's no just the lightest of breezes tho that is set to change this evening with stronger winds and heavier rain and a wet week is forecast. Lovely.

Indoors anyway as I have cooking prep to do for tomorrow's lunch guests and a bit of homework for Monday patch.

I hope your eye heals quickly @Ante1 and sympathise with your grief @Goldenlily26.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe from nasty weather.

                        Thanks Obelisk.
I thought I was doing quite well until I received a lovely message from my grandson who lives in Canada. He remembered their last visit a couple of years ago when he and Robbie curled up on my sofa and had a snuggle and snooze together. That set me off again.
It is tiny incidents like that which trigger me, that is what life's rich tapestry is created from I suppose.

                          Good afternoon,

There was a light frost on the roofs this morning but it’s gone now. However, the sky is grey and snow is expected this evening. I planted the bulbs I have into a pot, so they’ve got 2 chances. I’m late planting them, should have been beginning of last month, but they might do something.
I also planted a hellebore that I bought yesterday at the GC. The ground was very easy to dig, so it’s gone in easily. I hope the slugs/snails leave it alone. (I planted some years ago and they rotted, think the roots had been got at, but I’ve put this one in a totally different place).

I hope your eye soon feels better @Ante1 and doesn’t become infected. Have you tried bathing it with a mild saline solution? (eyedrops).

                          Sending kind thoughts @Goldenlily26.

All the decs are down, the cards and present lists stored with them in a poly bag, along with my food list. Tree will be collected by local hospice. Organised? Moi?
We have decided against going to the hills with the dogs this afternoon - just don't want to tempt snowy fate. We're hunkered down at home.
I have been trying to tell a lady in Aus that my dad is not her dad's cousin. They might share the same name/birth year, but that's where it ends, despite what Ancestry thinks. She's not a match for me on the DNA either. I feel her pain, as she's probably spent hours researching a tree which isn't hers.

Good afternoon, the frost lifted from the cars and various roofs, but it's still on the grass. The ice disc that I took out of the birdbath yesterday hasn't melted at all. It's blanket cloud again here, don't mind the cold if it's sunny, free heat behind the glass, not today tho.
We've been making soup, I pressure cooked the turkey carcass yesterday for stock, but as we were out all afternoon/ eve yesterday, we have finished it today. I used 3of the small butternut squash I have from last years crop & added lots of fresh ginger. After today's lunch we should have at least 2 more days' worth. Perfect timing for this cold weather.

Sounds delicious, @Allotment Boy. Indeed, it’s just the weather for it.
I’ve taken some decs down, too @Penny_Forthem, but the tree will be dismantled on Monday after 12th night tomorrow. It’s already looking very bare, but I have got some fairy lights in the dining room which stay up all year, and they bring a bit of cheer at dinner during the dreary days, along with some candles.
I’ll see if any charities are taking the Christmas cards but if not, they’ll go in the recycling bin.
