Evening everybody, well, we've made a good start on blitzing daughter's garden, gave 7 roses a hard pruning and tied them to supports where possible. Daughter has cut down some old bamboo screening hiding a very tall, ugly concrete wall in her back garden and we're planning to put back some new screening. Found to our delight some honeysuckle rootings she 'planted' last year at the top of the wall have grown and hopefully can be tied in tomorrow to the wire stock fence beyond. That's a job for someone younger than me to do - I'll stand guard at the base of the wall just in case!

Also on the job list ,another two woman job is replacing new curtains for her in the living room big front window. My reward is the old grey ones to try out in my guest bedroom at home.

Might stay another day as we're on a roll here.

Glad the day went well, if very sad @Ladybird4.

Very pleased that Ante seems to have enjoyed his stay in London and seen as many 'sights' as he could fit in.

I also used to have a fabric stash @Obelix-Vendée but have gradually whittled it down. I find my eyesight and fingers not as good as they used to be.

Good morning everyone. Woken up here to freezing fog - in fact the worst frost of this winter in my area. Typical as I want to get to the medical centre in town to have my x-ray done. @Penny_Forthem, I agree with @Obelix-Vendée in that animal charities around here will take old duvets and blankets but my Ukrainian contact won't accept duvets or pillows. @Obelix-Vendée, it isn't the entire onion family thank goodness. I am fine with chives and spring onions and pickled onions of course. I like swede mashed into potato.

Goodness me @lizzie27, you have been incredibly busy. I am getting decidely twitchy now about getting into the garden. Maybe this afternoon - weather permitting.

              Good morning all.

              Bon voyage home @ Ante.

              I hope everyone slept well.

Frosty here, so not sure about gardening today, maybe if it warms up.
I did over 3 hrs gardening yesterday, including a lot of shovelling of leaf mould. Now my left arm is aching.

I don't sew much anymore, arthritis in fingers. I got rid of a lot of my fabric stash when. I moved house. There were memories as I used to make my daughters' dresses.

                Good morning,

A beautiful day here today, but very cold. There was a very keen frost first thing. Still too cold for me to think about doing much in the garden other than general tidying up.
I’ve just done my Pilates class so having a coffee now, then might pop out to look at cars as we’re thinking of changing ours.

I hope your homeward journey is straightforward @Ante1.

Good morning. Cold, dry and with a nasty blast from the NNE so feeling even colder. Expecting a wet weekend so I'm sticking with indoor jobs.

I have arthritic hands too @Busy-Lizzie but it's mostly limited to swollen joints which lock occasionally but don't stop me sewing, sowing, planting cooking... They ache if they get cold and damp cold is worse - one main driver behind leaving Belgian winters behind. I have had to have my rings enlarged a bit to be able to wear them again, except my wedding ring which is firmly stuck behind its knuckle.

Well done @lizzie27. Sounds like you two are on a roll. I need to get out and do my roses before they get too excited but first need OH to tackle the hawthorn hedge next to their main bed as it is full of bramble triffids that mug my head and hair. There's a deep drainage ditch next to the road on the other side so impossible for me to get them at the base.

I hope you can get out to have your X-rays done @Ladybird4.

Have a good day everyone. I'm off to cut out a new top and then my biennial haircut this pm. Not my idea of fun.

A very good afternoon to you all. X-ray successfully done but it was scary walking on the extremely slippery pavements. I adopted the famous Antarctica penguin waddle but I really did not feel safe at all. I got to the medical centre at 08:20 and then I had to wait just a little while until those with appointments were seen first. I was there as a GP referral which didn't need an appointment. I was smiling as I was given two gowns to wear. These were so huge they made me look like a tent on legs but they served their purpose. Results will be sent to my GP in 7-10 days.
It was still freezing and foggy when I got home so I passed on the garden work for today.
I do hope you haven't overdone things @Busy-Lizzie and that your arm is not so achey tomorrow.
@Blue arbour I love looking at cars so am envious of your hunt. My Bestie's daughter is after a new car too. Hope the haircut meets with your approval @Obelix-Vendée

Afternoon all from sunny but very windy Adriatic. I arrived home, and then journey went smoothly. Even at the Zagreb airport in custom office when the lady have seen all teas and sweets in my luggage. She only smiled and said "go away". Thanks a lot all off you with worthy advices during my stay. @Songbird, I have lot of pictures, but will sort them next weekend, because I need a day or two for resting. I walked a lot every day.
It's time for early dinner and cup of tea.

I am shorn @Ladybird4. It's OK, just a straight cut to shoulder length. No point having it styled or shaped as my hair insists on being dead smooth and dead straight and life is too short to do a low dry every day. Fine by me as I tie it back anyway when I'm cooking or gardening or dancing. It won't even stay up if I do a French pleat or fancy bun.

Glad you got your X-ray done OK.

Have fun car hunting @Blue arbour. When we had to replace our Zafira a few years ago, after he was killed by a texting truck driver ramming his rear end, I spent about 3 months online looking for suitable replacements cos we can't bear car sales people. No longer needed a multi seater but had to persuade OH to go smaller. No Opels any more as they'd just been taken over by the Peugeot group. No other French motor engineering thank you. We like German engineering for cars but didn't like the models. Finally settled on Seat which is in the VW/Audi/Porsche group but has bigger windows than the equivalent VW model and is cheaper. Only 2 salesmen and a test drive to confirm our choice. Very happy with it.

The wind is getting up here, it's going very dark from heavy rain clouds moving in and there are warnings we may have snow tomorrow. Quel horreur! I'm making comforting Cullen Skink to have when we get back from the weekly shop tomorrow.

Welcome back to your home @Ante1, I'm glad the journey went smoothly.

The thermometer said 6C just before lunch but it felt much colder with a nippy breeze. I eventually went to do 30 mins more mulching later in the afternoon. I've finished last year's leaf mould and started the bought compost.

@Obelix-Vendée I had my wedding ring enlarged and then a few years ago my son cut it off for me because it got so tight it hurt. 2nd OH bought me an eternity ring to wear on the other hand, that was enlarged too but now I can't get it off. It's just sewing with a needle I can't do very well because I can't grip something as fine as a needle. I used to do embroidery, tapestry and smocking.

Good that you got your X Ray done @Ladybird4. How soon will you get the result?

I've booked to go to the ballet, Romeo and Juliet, later this month for OH's birthday. It's what he wanted and I love ballet. We'll eat out first.

Very envious re the ballet, @Busy-Lizzie. We cancelled the Nutcracker last month, because of the weather. Which company will you be seeing?
We've been to the forest again, much busier than last Thursday. Plenty of dog walkers, horse riders and bikers. Very good for both physical and mental health. I fell in love with a Daxi called Wendy!
Glad you have replenished your tea supplies @Ante1! Enjoy!
I did an evening course in fine tailoring and made many a lovely gown! I admire you @Obelix-Vendée for continuing the craft.

                                Good evening,

Glad your homeward journey went smoothly @Ante1 and you got all your foodstuffs safely through customs.

Well, we went car looking today - (we were just going for a look, honest) - but found one with low mileage and only 14 months old, and 1 previous owner, so did a test drive, felt happy with it, got a good offer on our existing car, so bought it. We collect it next Friday. It’s the same model we now have, just a slightly upgraded version. It doesn’t look any wider than our existing car, just a few cm’s longer, so I should still be able to get it in the garage.

Good you got your x ray done @Ladybird4 as busy says.

I’m sure you will enjoy the ballet @Busy-Lizzie.
