That’s an excellent use of unwanted things, @Butterfly6. I’m sure there is somewhere local that does the same, my church-going friend will know. I gave some things I knew I wouldn’t use ( eg shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair) to friends, and my daughter took the perfume samples. Annoyingly, I don’t always know what I’m not going to like until I’ve opened it!
I once got a surprise gift with a purchase from Boots, and opened it on the bus home. Sure enough, there were several items I wouldn’t use. I managed to get rid of them to fellow passengers, several young ladies went home happily with nail polish, lip gloss and hair stuff!

I’ve just done nearly two hours in the garden! The loppers and pruners were slow work, but I’ve tried out the lawn edging shears as an alternative and they have done a great job! Suddenly the task I’ve set myself looks achievable, which has cheered me up no end. I managed to expose the root of a rhododendron ponticum and dug it out with the big mattock! Back in for a shower, and now relaxing with a cup of coffee, and debating what to have for lunch. OH is happily settled in front of the tv, watching rugby. I shall have a restful afternoon. Still cold, but the stove has been on and it’s very cosy indoors.

      Afternoon all.

Cold and grey here too, definitely not gardening weather, unfortunately - I really must chop the Rugosa rose hedge back before the buds burst. Meanwhile, there are spring bulbs to raise the spirits. I know tete a tete daffs are looked down on because they're everywhere, but... they're everywhere because they are so reliable. In a windy garden it's useless to try growing the tall, highly bred daffs because they always break, while the tetes can apparently survive a hurricane!

Speaking of which, Storm Eowyn has been reclassified as a hurricane in Ireland, now that the recorded wind speeds have been ratified. Still 18,000 households without electricity, and some without water, mostly in Donegal and very rural areas in the west.

Well it is super bowl time again on Sunday. Nutty. a prime seat is $56 Thousand dollars. Nose bleed seats 6 Thousand. People are nuts. and they pay certain players 50 million dollars a year. SMH will i watch. yep, from the comfort of my couch. the commercials usually are neat. Living in PA, not loyal to the Eagles, or any group. Was engaged to a guy who lived in Kansas once, maybe I should be loyal to the Chiefs, LOL. OK. onward to the rest of my day. have a good one.

It has been cold and grey outside and it has rained. I've done the ironing and also chosen more photos from my laptop gallery for this year's album. So hard to decide which ones, I have loads.

Had a long chat with daughter 2 about her visit from France to stay with us in Norfolk the end of April. I was going to give their family a visit to the Harry Potter studios for their Christmas present, just waiting for them to decide which day - too late now, all their stay is booked up now. It will have to wait until next year.

            Evening all.

Lovely time with sister, and the log fire was on! Had a quiet afternoon and just making Chinese-y supper - king prawns feature tonight!

Too drizzly and cold to even think about gardening. If it’s dry tomorrow, I might take a cuppa outside and have a potter.

            Have a cosy evening everyone.

Evening all. It seems that everyone has had a lovely time despite the grim weather. It was like that here so definitely not good gardening weather but the bulbs are coming on apace now. There is nothing quite like a bunch of friends getting together and passing the time chatting and eating @Blue arbour. @Ergates, I love the smell of Eucalyptus but I'm not sure about seaweed! Hope you enjoy your dancing tonight @Oelix-Vendée. Glad you got the greenhouse sorted @Penny_Forthem - just in time for the growing season.

I'm just looking at possibilities for our trip to Finland in June. (It's very nearly our golden wedding, so we're celebrating a few weeks early by extending our visit with a stay in a little cottage by a lake.) We've found a car rental firm which has no upper age limit for its drivers, so we can choose a location which is off the beaten track, rather than it having to be accessible by public transport. We liked the sound of "Cosy and nice house with a lake", on Air B&B, but the kind host's attempt to write her description in Engish made us laugh: "Bed linen in the house is not available, so please bring their underwear."

I watched the rugby @Ergates. Extremely happy bunny here. I like tête-à-tête daffodils @Liriodendron for all the positive reasons you have pointed out. I always think its a same when the taller - and double flowered - daffs look so sorry for themselves when they end p with kinked stems after a windy day. What a shame that you couldn't get a day fixed for the Harry Potter tour @Busy-Lizzie. I should imagine it is always popular.

                        Hello all,
everybody seems to have had a good/productive day which is nice.
Trip to Finland sounds exciting @Liriodendron but odd that bed linen isn't provided at an AirB&B I would have thought. The hosts can't expect guests to lug sheets and duvets onto a plane or ship surely?

I'm back from a few days away staying with my daughter in Devon to help her sort out her garden. A very productive few days but it was perishing cold after Wednesday, I had five layers on! It was a foggy/drizzly journey home on the M5 today but otherwise good and I stopped for lunch near Glastonbury to have a break. and a mosey around a nearby Lidl. Came out with two packs of silicone toppers for plastic boxes at 50p each and a giant pack of loo rolls - the last of the big spenders, me!
It was lovely to see clumps of snowdrops on the road verges over the Mendips.
OH had excelled himself whilst I was away, had done the H/W and the washing/drying. I must go away more often!
Looking forward to walking round my garden tomorrow, weather permitting to see what's coming up.

Hello there everyone. Coffee/tea morning today. Hoping to visit ex cat sitter Jack afterwards with any leftover cake. I have steered clear of him whilst I have had this cough but the Doc assured me that I wouldn't be too infectious - I felt like Typhoid Mary! It will be the first time I've seen him since last year though I chat on the phone with him every day. If I can manage it, I will be in the garden later on. Hope everyone has a happy day.
