That's very beautiful, @Ante1 - but sofa and tv sound good! It was a lot warmer here so I got out into the garden in the sun this afternoon. I'm with you, @Butterfly6 , that time outside puts a smile on your face. I was able to prune and tidy two thirds of the rugosa rose hedge before it got too cold and dark.

I'm glad Cosmos passed his heart health check, @Obelix-Vendée .

Good evening all. I made the mistake of thinking it would be pleasant travelling to my Canasta session at lunch because the sun was out. How wrong could I be! The wind must have been coming from the arctic. I travel on the bus as parking is dreadful where we play Canasta and you can never tell how long a game may take. I tried to force myself into the hedge near the bus stop to escape the worst of the wind but it wasn't much use. Then a very nice man came and offered to be my wind break. He was a very interesting character and told me that he, his wife and two small people had sold their house an the village and moved to Pembrokeshire. He had driven up to drop off his hired van and was going to pick up his own car from his grandmother's in the town where I was headed and then drive back down to his new home - a possible 5 hour drive. He sat next to me on the bus and we chatted all the way to his stop - two before mine at the bus station. Thoroughly enjoyed his company. The first thing I did when I got off the bus was go to the sports shop and there I bought a new bob hat. Apparently the actual temperature was 1°C but with the wind chill factor it was -4°C. I have never felt so cold for a long time.
@Ante1, those Winter Wonderland pictures are stunning. Good thing Max is black!
@Penny_Forthem, the view from your window is wonderful. If the weather had been dire you could have people watched from up there.
@Ergates, @AuntyRach's treatment certainly did work for me. I did slather on some Voltarol too and today my leg has been just about back to normal.
Glad to read that Cosmos puss cat is doing OK @Obelix-Vendée.

I did buy two new packets of seeds today - some Gardeners Delight tomato seeds and some cat grass seeds for Cricket. I might get started on seed sowing tomorrow as I am having a quiet Saturday for a change.

Good evening all, what's left of it!

I had a bad night so I overslept and I had friends coming for lunch so I didn't get around to posting this morning. Lunch went well and it was good to see our friends, 2 couples. The second couple didn't leave until 6pm but they are our best friends here. Nearly bed time now, OH has already gone up.

A very good morning one and all. Today must be a gardening day or I'll go crazy. I don't feel I ever got the garden sorted after 2023's Winter. Please will the tap controller up there resist the temptation to turn it on every time I plan on tidying up the old top growth on my perennials!

Hmm my appeal to the tap controller failed miserably as it is now raining! Back to the drawing board!

Good morning @Ladybird4 and all to come.

Looks very gloomy here. Sleet is forecast.

OH got up before me and unloaded the dishwasher and cleared up the rest of the kitchen and dining room after my lunch party yesterday. :wub2:
He also gave me a gooey Valentine card. I hadn't got one for him because we never do.

Greetings all. We had some brief sunshine and blue bits but it's clouding over again. Admin jobs done so off to empty the chicken roost of its feed, water and nest boxes then have a good sweep and a spring clean with vinegar.

Still too wet for gardening so after lunch we'll tackle re-organising the garage and garden shed to make space for OH's fancy strimmer on wheels and the push mower. We have another shed in the paddock which I'd like to clean out to house the sit-on mower but OH is resistant. I don't think leaving it out under a tarpauline is sensible.

Glad you enjoyed your lunch @Busy-Lizzie. Sorry about your rain @Ladybird4. Happy Saturday everyone.

Misty and rainy here this morning. No point going out, and no gardening planned. I’m glad I got some of my prunings pile shredded when I did. I may have to just chop up the rest and see how much I can get stuffed into the second green bin by Tuesday.
Both very disorientated here, we were both convinced it was Saturday yesterday, had to keep reminding ourselves that the weekend hadn’t actually started yet. I did have a couple of glasses of bubbly with our late lunch / early dinner, and promptly fell asleep on the sofa afterwards. A very unproductive day.
Sadly, as it’s so soggy out, I’ll have to do some indoor jobs. I need to tighten up a couple of loo seats. I fished out the instruction leaflets weeks ago, but have been studiously ignoring them! Better get it out of the way. Might guilt OH into finishing off a couple of skirting boards. He is not keen on any potentially ‘dirty’ jobs! Very competent and happy to fit new toilets, but once they are commissioned for use, prefers not to get involved.
Sounds like you had a very interesting bus journey yesterday, @Ladybird4. I have many happy memories of passing the time on longer journeys, chatting to some fascinating fellow passengers. Ones that stick in my mind were - an architect who advised on old churches, his family kept Guinea pigs that were allowed to roam free in the house, fairly good at only pooing on newspaper laid down for the purpose! - the young lady lawyer who worked on copyright matters for music artists - the tiny lady who was taking her two Irish wolfhounds to a dog show. They dwarfed her!
Coffee finished, off to work. Hope I can find the Allen key.

Rainy sleet here at the moment so it’s an indoor day again. This constant grey weather is very disorientating and tiring, like you @Ergates we seem to be continually on the wrong day :dunno:

What is cat grass @Ladybird4? Glad your leg is recovered.

@Busy-Lizzie I really, really think you need to give your OH a treat after all the clearing up he finished off for you - and the Valentine card. :imphrt:
@Butterfly6 cats like to eat grass as a sort of medicinal treat. I am not altogether sure what types of 'grass' will be in the mixture but I can grow it throughout the year so Cricket can graze to his hearts content and my poor spider plant can have time to recover from his enthusiastic nibbling.

Dog bedding and a pair of my trainers clunking around in the washing machine, otherwise all is quiet.
We had a cathartic day yesterday, after our mattress buying!
We generated several bags of rubbish from the wardrobe. OH is a hoarder, but even he had to admit that he'd never wear certain items again - and they weren't fit for the charity shop. However, on the plus side, we filled a charity bag with some nice shirts, ties and jeans, which he looked longingly at, before parting with them.
Made us realise that we have 'taken our eye off the ball' somewhat, both sartorially and housework wise, in the last few years.
Loose loo seats are the bane of our lives @Ergates.
We have just been invited for Sunday lunch tomorrow. Better buy a bunch of flowers, as it's a 'don't bring anything' meal.
Rain is on its way here, too. Heartily sick of it now.

Well, the sun has decided we're not having rain just yet and has burst thru to give us sunny spells. Still cold tho so 2 pairs of socks, jeans and a big thick jumper over my t-shirt while I cleaned out the hen house.

Sometimes stuff just has to go @Penny_Forthem. For last week's dance evening I got out a favourite patent leather handbag - bought in 1975 from a posh shop in Marylebone High Street in 1975. Cost me a week's wages so lots of saving up. I spotted a loose piece of leather and went to fix it but it is definitely past it. However, I shall use it to make a pattern for a new leather bag before I throw it out. My old clothes either go on the gardening and painting pile or to a charity shop.

We've just been in a total panic! OH got an email from the Visa people to say his passport with Visa had just been delivered and signed for. Wasn't delivered here. He went in search of the postman who knows us but she was a new post woman. Luckily he found her still in our village and she knew where she delivered it and had taken the photo. So she and OH went to the house down the road and found it. The woman had signed for it although it wasn't her name on the envelope, but it was her house number. The Visa office in London had put the wrong number on the envelope. We were really worried as we are going back to France in early March.
