Now you're just showing off @Victoria ! Sounds pretty good to me.

@Busy-Lizzie and @Blue arbour there's a community hall weuse for big garden group meetings such as the AGM and it has high celings and some clown put the hetares just under the ceiling. i always wear layers, starting with a thermal vest and long socks. By the time the AGM has finished I'm warm enough to take off my coat and scarf and enjoy the lunch. The Methodist chuches I attended in my dim and distant childhood had nothing as frivolous as heaters. The one in Didsbury is now a mosque.

The sun has gone in and it's grey again. Once my leek and potato soup for tomrrow's lunch is done I'm heading off upstairs.

    Stay warm everyone.

Hi folks BT Internet & email issues, so haven't been posting. I have only skimmed back so hoping I haven't missed anything significant. All OK here, we're considering getting our lounge furniture either reupholstered or changing. , that's leading to talk of decorating and new carpets. :phew:
Hope all OK with you all.

Back from a lovely lunch - roast hogget, all the trimmings, followed by Welsh cheeses and biscuits. I had 2 glasses of wine! The dogs weren't forgotten either, with a foil tray of hogget scraps.
I hope I can stay awake for Throwdown and Unforgotten.

Evening everybody, just lost the post I'd just written, site doesn't seem to be running ok lately.
          Will try again.
Can't believe we've just driven 172 miles round trip for a lunch! Ended up in North Devon in a very cold village hall so kept my puffa jacket on. Ceiling heaters totally inadequate on a bitterly cold day. Still, there were mountains of food so most people had 2nd helpings of both buffet style main and pud courses. Had to bring home slices of the Xmas cake for tomorrow as no room left in our tums. About 30 of us (old car club) had met up for a post Christmas lunch and chinwag, great to see old friends there. They had also laid on a very interesting and thankfully short talk/demo on Somerset Levels willow craft, and some beautifully woven baskets were displayed. It must play havoc on your hands I expect.

Yesterday's dinner was indeed luscious @Ladybird4 , I must buy duck more often,

Have a good Sunday evening all.

Good evening everybody. I am a third one along with @Blue arbour and @Busy-Lizzie who found the temperature in Church absolutely Baltic. The plumes of condensation from our mouths when talking was a dead giveaway. I had a text on Saturday from one of the Tea/Coffee ladies who had had a minor op on her right foot, asking if I could pick her up and take her to Church. This was not a problem but this morning I got another text asking if I could get her a pint of semi-skimmed milk. Luckily I pass a petrol station so was able to nip in for the cow juice. When I got to her place I received a wonderful greeting from her two adorable spaniels - Billy and Buster. One a springer and the other a cocker. They both wanted to bring me their toys which was lovely. Maybe I could train Cricket to bring me his toys instead of mice, voles and shrews! Hmmm. I'll abandon that idea PDQ.

@Obelix-Vendée did you find some suitable material in your stash? If so I hope that you get a dress made for your 'do'. @lizzie27 I have a banner message at the top of my page which I've copied and pasted in case you haven't seen it:
Maintenance is now complete, thank you for your patience.
I did a willow weaving course once many years ago. I made a star gazing hare. It was about 60cm tall but eventually the weather broke it all down until all I had left was the base, which resembled a circular place mat.
Sorry you have had problems @Allotment Boy. It is so frustrating when t'internet is down.
Everyone seems to have had tasty meals today. I had a simple baked potato, quiche and salad. Sometimes it is dead boring when there is only one to cater for.
@Songbird are your fritillaries the snakes head variety or the big Crown Imperials? My snake heads haven't put in a appearance yet.

Hello all. It's been a busy day, with church in the morning and a 3-hour choir rehearsal this afternoon, so now I'm having a relaxing evening with music and a book. I'm peeved to have missed Countryfile, which was on earlier than I'd expected, because it looked interesting from last week's trailer. We can't get i-player here in Ireland, and the repeat on BBC2 isn't until after I've left for Scotland...

I'm sorry not to have replied sooner to your question about sharpeners for secateurs, @Ladybird4 . My current sharpener is this one: Blade Tech G2 Black Sharpener
                  - which is useful in that it holds the blade at the right angle for sharpening, but I rather think it's wearing out, as it's less effective than it was. I reckon the Felco one might be a better bet - I think I'll look for one for myself.

Dinner was good but definitely need to get back on serious 5:2 diet now. Feeling full but dieting and colds don't mix.

I did willow weaving many years ago in Belgium and made an obelisk, of course.

Planted it up with a small clematis and both died after just one Belgian winter. Here I've done other class and made a basket, so far still surving tho not as lovely as my obelisk.

@lizzie27 Maybe a long way but you seem to have had fun catching up with friends so worth it.

@Penny_Forthem I've yet to find hogget here but more and more farmers seem to be going the local market route so fingers crossed.

@Ladybird - new frock cut out and ready to sew, tomorrow morning and Tuesday. Patchwork group tomorrow pm.

I hope you're all conncetd now @Allotment Boy.

A pleasant evening and sweet dreams all.

                      Evening folks.

Lovely sounding meals going on today. I had toast for my supper - one round with peanut butter and one with Nutella - so practically a main and a pudding!

Take care and sleep well all.

@Ladybird4 , snake head fritillaries, five are showing through now, loads more to come. I have one small tete-e-tete daffodil beginning to open and show its flower now too. Hope the minus temperatures forecast for tonight don’t damage anything.
I felt quite chilly reading of all of you who have been in cool temperatures whilst inside!
                        Have a pleasant evening all.

Love your basket @Obelix-Vendée. It has such character. Thank you @Liriodendron for your information about secateur sharpeners.

Morning everyone, much brighter start today. Re the Internet, we weren't actually off line, but I was having issues with this site being very slow, and it logging me out at random times, others were having issues too. One of the admin looked into it and concluded that it was an issue with BT (DNS server whatever that is). Then BT email went down for the best part of a day. Before I knew all that I had already cleared all my browsing history , cookies etc, but it didn't help. This meant though I lost all my watched threads etc. The site is still slow for me and difficult to use so I'm restricting my use at the moment.

The sun is shining! Although chiller than lucky @Victoria
Daughter and GD are visiting this morning but hoping to get into the garden this afternoon.

Evryones Sunday lunches sound delicious, warming and/or comforting. My GD would enjoy your supper @AuntyRach , I’m a jam or marmalade fan.

I did a willow weaving course a few years ago, we made a plant support (bit like yours @Obelix-Vendée ) Very enjoyable although I haven’t done any since. I might see if there’s a course running this year. A star gazing hare sounds wonderful @Ladybird4

Welcome back to the internet @Allotment Boy

I don’t think I've ever had hogget, is it like a stronger flavoured lamb @Penny_Forthem ?

Sounds like you’re making progress @Tui34 , it always takes a while before everything “clicks” and you feel at home rather than moving in
