        Good morning all!

I see everyone is onto warm soup after all the festive food. I made a lovely chicken soup after dissecting a chicken and freezing the pieces. Left some bits of meat on the carcass and it boiled up beautifully. Needless to say, it has been consumed!!

Not cold here - in fact very mild after the freezing Christmas weather we had. It's about 9°C so far but very humid and although rain was expected - it hasn't come.

Patch went back to his family last night - what a happy dog!! I bet he had lots of cuddles and slept on someone's bed!!

Glad to hear your arrived safely before the freeze and that your house has warmed up @Busy-Lizzie and so nice to hear from you @Anna42 I hope the rest is beneficial for your back @AuntyRach So painful! Enjoy the last day of the holiday @Ante1 All is back to normal here today. The start of the New Year. And so it goes on.....

@Tui34, your description of your chicken soup has really made my mouth water. That was one of my Dad's favourite things to do with the Christmas leftovers.

We've not had more snow, but it hasn't thawed either, so Bryn isn't going to his day care today, as it's down a very narrow lane. Luckily, I have swapped his day to Wednesday.
Got the 'kids' coming for supper tonight - meatballs in the slow cooker, followed by cherry Panettone bread and butter pudding. Back to my 'diet' with @lizzie27 and @Obelix-Vendée tomorrow.
                Ouch, @AuntyRach take it easy.
Going to be a cold week, so wrap up warm, everyone.

Morning everyone, we took most of our decorations down on Saturday, but we haven't put the boxes back in the loft yet. As it's much milder today I will probably do it later, as opening the hatch lets all the heat out into the roof space.
We braved the shops yesterday like others would normally go midweek but sometimes needs must.

Morning all, We are going through our soup from the freezer, the courgette and carrot soup with some cumin is very good, the first time I have made this one.
We have a mixed bag of weather, never the same two days running. Take care of your back @AuntyRach, heat and a tennis ball massage if you are able.

Good morning. Odd weather. We have bright sunshine and blue bits from the south east and almost horizontal rain from the south west but the rain is not winning at the mo. Very blustery out there.

Two years ago I planted some perennial yellow daisies with glaucous foliage. Can't remember what they are but they've been in flower again since early December and aren't a bit bothered by all the odd weather since then. I also have a few roses, cyclamen, leucojum, geranium macrorrhizum and mahonia Winter beauty in flower all thru that period and even a few flowers on my Bumble salvia.

The Xmas tree has been posted to the compost area and all my houseplants are back in their normal spots enjoying the extra light. OH is washing all the glasses by hand - bizarre because our Bosch dishwasher does our plain crystal very well. I did not find that tablecloth @lizzie and had to use an embroidered French one I bought years ago at a NATO Xmas fair in Brussels - before all the terrorism stopped them inviting guests. Really good things from every NATO and wannabe NATO country.

Simple but tasty bean soup for lunch today and simple stir fry veggies with a bit of protein for dinner. Need lots of vitamins and minerals to get thru the next two dismal weather months and all the bugs flying around.

I hope your back relaxes back to normal @AuntyRach.

                        Have a good Epiphany everyone.

Ooh, @Penny_Forthem! You are too far away for me to invite myself for supper, but I have just added cherries and cream to my shopping list! We have come out for breakfast overlooking the sea, using the questionable excuse that we need to pop into Waitrose on the way past.
Had to drive through one major puddle on the way here, the nearby village often floods and the river Otter has reached the top of its banks. It’s not raining at the moment, and the sun is peeking through the clouds, so hopefully we will be able to get back home without incident.
Poor @AuntyRach, hope the back improves quickly. I think it must be really bad to render you unable to get in to work. Hope you have hot water bottles, heated pads or those microwaveable wraps to help ease the pain.
I also washed all the stemmed glasses by hand! I’m sure they’d all be fine in the dishwasher, but I don’t trust myself to load them in such a way that they wouldn’t get tipped over and broken. None of them are expensive, but would be hard to replace. My favourites have coloured stems which are hard to find these days.
I’m not a big fan of soup, and as I only really enjoy it with crusty rolls or bread with lashings of butter, doesn’t end up as a healthy option. I’m planning jacket potatoes with tuna. Just wondering if I could make a small panettone and cherry bread and butter pudding in the air fryer. I’m sure I’ve made a regular one in there before, and I have a mini loaf tin that will fit in there, and make just enough for two.

Thank you for your messages folks - I’m sure most of you have had back pain at some point and it is horrible isn’t it (well, what pain isn’t?). It’s absolutely and annoyingly disabling but at least it’s not constant pain - just when I move, so could be worse. sit to stand is particularly comical though.

Bread and butter pudding has been mentioned… my favourite! With panettone you say… what’s not to like!

Well the boxes with the decorations in are all back in the loft, we are up to 5 now as I had to spread the load a bit to make them easier to handle. The tree is in the front garden waiting till Saturday morning when the council will collect for recycling. The Meile has made short work of the stray needles, this years tree didn't drop that many in spite of being very dry now.
Hope your back eases soon @AuntyRach , that reminds me Yoga re-starts tonight I think I need it, too much sitting around the past 10 days.
