Yawn yawn, wakey wakey autumn 2017

Frosty here as well.

I have a busy day. I have to finish replacing the bulbs in the outside lights (on front of building) as some of them had not worked for a while (was waiting for them to come back into stock). By the time I got them yesterday it was 2.30 and dusk was fast approaching and it was a struggle. Also, the bulb for the lamppost turned out to be the wrong one (bayonet instead of ES). Trade wholesalers had put the wrong one in the order and I didn't check when picking the order up. No problem as I have to go back later in the week to pick up the rest of the order (they were still waiting for the rat poison for my baitbox - I use solid bait so nothing else can accidentally get the poisoned grain). I had different stuff for the mice in the loft and they got that right.

This morning I have to go to the village hall to put the car park barrier down (school rescheduled concert to today), park my car across the area where cars can creep past the barrier and walk home. I will be picked up at lunchtime to go back and open the barrier for our members and two of us will have to stand in the cold to check who comes in. We have our club Christmas party today so expect lots of people.

This evening we're out for a meeting and, as usual, I've arranged to hold it at the Indian restaurant . We'll just have to have dinner whilst we're there.

Aloha everyone,

The Christmas party went well (we still played bridge) and there was lots of interesting food brought by members.

I didn't have too much trouble with parents trying to get into the car park. I wore my High Vis. jacket (looked very official ) and checked all drivers trying to get in. Any that were for the school got turned away and only one of them was abusive ("Sorry, mate, swear words don't act as a password!"). The others were all quite pleasant and when they asked me where they could park (all of them did) I suggested they go into the next entrance as they could see there were a lot of cars parked there - it used to be the school front playground but is now used as a car park for the teachers so the school should sort their own problem out.

The only two times in the week that the village car park is always full is Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday evenings (every week of the year), for bridge, and it's always those times that the school chooses to put on their concerts and plays. It has been suggested to the school that they make it Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon but to no effect

I stood in the freezing cold for an hour on car park duty, but got a rousing cheer from the members when I came back into the hall!

This was the food table (that chocolate cake was fabulous) - booze table was elsewhere
