      Aloha everyone,

A mild morning with some rain forecast. Students went well yesterday and I managed to find time to repot a load of Nagas as they have now grown quite big. Some of them are now ready for sale - they're a much later developer than the Shiney Hybrids.

Today I have my first county match of the season (the squad rotate who plays each time) and we're playing Bedfordshire. We've won the national inter-counties tournament three years in succession so we have a reputation to keep up - so no pressure! :heehee: Of course, individual matches are not quite as much pressure as it's run on a league table but we still want to do well.

Keep well and have a great day

      Aloha!

        Good day
I have a busy morning ahead of me. Today is the annual pot luck picnic with my girlfriends and I am taking fresh buns, breads and of course butter to spread on them. I have the butter moulds all done and sitting in the freezer. They are nicely thawed just a we are sitting down to eat when I make them this way. I'll be making hot pepper buns, regular white buns, baguettes and perhaps some whole grain bread.

I need to have the breads ready before 11 as I need to give my sister a lift to work and then come back and load up the van to go to my lunch in a nearby city.

Hopefully it will be a dry afternoon. It has certainly started as a pleasant day :)

I hope everyone here has the kind of day they wish for and please play safe!

          Aloha everyone,

@CanadianLori I hope your picnic went well and the rain kept away. :blue thumb:

The match went well after a disastrous start. We play in four x 1.5hr sessions with complicated scoring. By the end of the first session we were losing by 47 points (a big loss) but managed to claw it all back and won 170 - 96. These gave us a league score of 18 - 2 (all results are equated on a special scale that allocates 20 points for the whole match. So we got a 90% result. :hapydancsmil: We play as pairs and my partner (my sister) and I were the stars of the match :pathd: :snorky:

Today is going to be complicated. They're closing our road for two days whilst they resurface it. I'm hoping that residents will be able to have access through either end otherwise it means a five mile detour! I'm guessing that they won't close access completely (don't think it's legal - in case of emergency). This morning I'm running a bridge seminar in the village, I also have a hygienist appointment in the completely opposite direction past our house and I need to return from both. I had put in a request online on a special form the council have for the purpose asking them to tell me what's happening and how we have access. It may be a special form but it only works if they reply!

I'll go out there and chat with the engineers when they arrive.

Keep well and have a great day

          Aloha!

              Good day
@shiney The picnic went very nicely. The weather was in the mid 80's and we were sat in the shade with a little huff of breeze now and again.

I have a fairly quiet day ahead of me. I was going to meet with a designer but decided to cancel because she spelled her first name differently in her various emails Don't need to deal with a "decorette" pretending to be a professional. And I still don't understand not spelling one's own name the same way twice.
              Suspicious to say the least!
Day before yesterday, I sharpened speedy's blades and think I'll make some further adjustments today to the blade/plate clearance before using her to mow the lawn. For those who don't know, speedy is my reel/push mower.

I also have some tidying and organizing to do and perhaps I'll get to it today.

Have a lovely day and play safe :)

                  Aloha everyone,

@wiseowl How lovely! :) It seems as though you're going to have a wonderful week. :blue thumb:

It's bridge club as usual this afternoon so I'll have to fight my way through the workmen as they've already started ripping the road up in that direction!

Keep well and enjoy this lovely sunny and mild day

                  Aloha!

                    Good day
@wiseowl I love to have the young ones visit. Very little is "same old same old" to them and they enjoy learning so much.

@shiney, hope it's goes easy pushing your way through the fellows leaning on their shovels.

I've got a fairly leisurely day ahead of me. Just going to shift some potted plants around and do some watering.

Best get myself ready for public. Taking sis to work shortly.

Have a lovely day and play safe!

                          Aloha everyone,

It's too late to get my body in shape - although it does have a custom built shape already. :heehee:

The workmen were actually doing a good job of the road. They had four machines virtually nose to tail moving down the road. The front one was removing the top three inches of tarmac (in sections, as they were only patching), the next one had big brushes that were brushing up any loose bits of tarmac, the next was laying hot tarmac and the fourth was rolling it. Behind those was a man with a big cutter (circular saw) that was cutting around the edges and another man that was filling those edges with a fine type of liquid tarmac (gives that nice shiny smooth strip around the patches). The two patches outside my place were more than the width of my driveway and across both entrances :rolleyespink:. I asked the man how long before I can drive over it and he said 10 minutes should be enough. They had gone the full width of Shineyland in about ten minutes.

This morning Mrs Shiney has a free morning and wants to go to the cinema to see the new Mama Mia film (we only see about one film a year - and she usually falls asleep whilst watching it!). In one of the towns near us they have Wednesday mornings as Senior Citizens day :old: - £3.50 includes tea and biscuits :blue thumb:.

Keep well and have a great day

                          Aloha!

                              Good day
The skies are clouded over this morning but I am pretty sure that if I remove the shade cloth from the greenhouses, it will change to clear sunny skies. That seems to happen a lot.

@wiseowl I will be having grandchildren visit this weekend as well. They like a good game of checkers of Parcheesi or doing jigsaw puzzles so my body doesn't get a workout as you do. :)
