Good morning Penny Shiney and everyone,

Woo sorry to hear you are feeling unwell and hope that given time you start to feel better.Sending good wishes from me and Mr Kandy:sunny::wub2:
Shiney hope the garden is not suffering too much with the dry weather down in Shineyland before your big day at the end of the month:rolleyespink:

Penny hope the weather is starting to pick up for you now and that you have a good summer:yess:

I've been a busy bee this week catching up on washing, drying and ironing so thankfully that is all done now that the weather has turned cooler:yess:It looks like we have had a drop of the wet stuff overnight but the garden is still quiet dry.Just been down the garden to remove the hosepipe from off the back lawn ready for mowing and have spotted some hedgehog poo so looks like Fred has survived the winter and is looking for some grub :D

I have this morning potted on our tomato and pepper plants so with luck and no frosts can get them planted out at the start of next month as they are outdoor ones:yess:My first early spuds have been hit by that late frost we had last week but as we were elsewhere couldn't do a lot about the situation, but hopefully they will pick up again.

Hope you all have a very pleasant day in all you decide to do:sunny::)

    Good morning everyone,

woo, great to see you back :dbgrtmb:

Kandy, they keep forecasting rain but we're not getting it so we have the sprinkler going a lot.

Slugs have got some of our runner beans .

With all this sunny hot weather we're not sure what will still be in flower for open day . We now have lots of extra work to do as the forget-me-nots that are covering all the ground in the beds are starting to go over. It will all have to come out and we've made a start on it and filled two wheelie bins already. When I say 'we've made a start' I don't mean me. Lots of bending work is not in my job description :heehee:.

One of the round wooden posts (3" diameter) that holds the wires for the rambling roses (where our 'funny' neighbour won't let us have anything against his fence) has snapped off at the base. Tracey was here on her fortnightly visit yesterday so she helped me put a new post in.

The aquilegias are making a magnificent show in the garden but we are worried that they may be finished by open day. If they are then it will be a pity because of the loss of all that wonderful colour - and we'll have to cut back thousands of them.

Plant sales have already started. We fork out quite a lot of money for compost, baskets and liners, pots, seeds, plug plants and some plants grown for us by a local specialist nursery for the baskets and pots etc The charity insists that we recoup our expense first and this year it has come to about £250. We have already got that back with people popping by for plants and picking up their baskets. Someone turned up yesterday on the off chance that we had aquilegias ready and bought 24 :dbgrtmb: (already in flower in their pots) at £2 each.

    have a great day :D

Good morning Woo Shiney and everyone,

I have just been seeing on the news that South West Trains has sacked thier best Station Master because he took a shopping trolley off of the train line to stop a disaster happening so a big campaign has been set up to have him reinstated as he had won many awards over his 28 year employment so we shall see what happens.Watch this space...:D

Woo hope you are feeling much better and I shall have to watch my feet today with the date :heehee:

Shiney, our forget- me- nots started going over two weeks ago and our Aquilegias are all out in flower now which I assume is the right time for them to be flowering and we are much further north than you are.I do hope that you manage to get some more stuff in flower by the time of your open day.Perhaps you could have a quick look on line to see what should be open by then and then hope that you have some of those plants and shrubs.I can't suggest anyhting else, sorry.:)

We actually had a couple of quick showers yesterday but it wasn't enough to do any good and I asm having top go round the garden filling in all the cracks in the borders as they are getting quiet wide.:mad:I do prefere the :sunny:weather to the continual wet stuff though :yess:

Hope you all have a lucky Friday:mute::)

Good morning woo, Kandy and everyone,

Kandy, the aquilegia normally start flowering about mid-May. Ours have been in flower for nearly three weeks and look their best right now. The bearded irises are all in flower but are also unlikely to last till open day. The other irises probably won't last either.

We still have a number of plants that will be in bloom and I hope that some that don't usually flower until later will be out instead.

    Still no rain :wallbang:

    Have a great day :D
