    Morning Woo and everyone,

Woo you beat me to it this morning.Hope you are having a good weekend:dbgrtmb:

Well we are still here and the end of the world didn't happen although ten people were killed in Malaysia when a mud slide washed down a mountain into their homes yesterday:cry3:

Anyway, we had a good day yesterday helping to rasie lots of pennies for the cat rescue centre and then in the afternoon went over to the lottie and while Mr Kandy planted out some sprouting broccoli plants I got loads of weeding and watering done:yess:We have twelve runner bean plants showing at the moment so nice to see them growing again after Mr Kandy sowed the seeds insitu a few weeks ago:DWas glad to get home though and we both felt shattered after the days events so will take it easy today. We look like we have had rain in the night so everywhere is damp so I needn't have gone out to water the garden last night:gaagh:

Shiney, are you growing butternut squashes this year and if so how are they doing?I sowed my seed three weeks ago and had to resow them as they hadn't come through the compost and the second lot are very slow in growing so don't know what is going on there:dunno:

Hope you all have a good day in all that you do:):sunny:

Good morning woo, Kandy and everyone,

woo, it rained nicely for 15 minutes at 5.45 this morning so I hope you got it as well

Kandy, well done with the cat rescue centre :dbgrtmb:. Our butternut squash have all germinated very well. The first lot were a bit slow but when Mrs shiney experimented with a different method she got almost 100% germination. I posted a thread here:-

    http://gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/propagation-month/33706-germinating-seeds-quickly.html

We hope to sell them at the weekend as the earlier ones are ready for planting out now and I think these latest ones will be at the four leaf stage by the weekend.

Quite a few people on here have had very poor germination .

I spent a lot of yesterday pulling up more forget-me-nots and cutting down big weeds that can't be dug out. I also have been cutting back all the plum suckers around the garden - there's loads of them.

    Have a great day :D

    Hi Shiney and Woo,

Shiney thanks for that link:dbgrtmb:.I took a look before we went out for our early morning walk before getting the dinner started:)

Woo,I saw on one of the forecasts in my favourites that we would have rain by 4am but as I was still asleep at that time don't actually know if it was correct or not.:DWe have enjoyed our walk and the sun has come back out so I didn't feel silly any more with my sun glasses on:DIt is very blustery as we walked round but we still managed to hear the birds singing which was very nice:yess:

Hope you are ok and have a lovely day with your family:)

      Good morning everyone,

Still have some of that wind stuff outside but at least it isn't as strong as it was throughout yesterday.I had to keep standing up my plant pots and give them a good watering as the wind kept drying them out and knocking them over:rolleyespink:

One of my village friends has gone with her hubby up to Scotland since last Thursday as he is in a golf tournament and I happened to say to her hope she didn't get any problems with Icelandic volcanos this year as they got stuck up there last year anmd had to find a diffreetn way home rather than flying. Now have heard on the news that one has started to erupt and the ash cloud might cause problems for air travellers today.I should have kept my big mouth shut:heehee:

Hope you all have a good day:)

      Good morning Kandy and everyone,

I had lots of problems with the high winds yesterday as the large gazebo we erected 20ft x 10ft was trynig to walk across the garden towards the greenhouse.

We had been given weights with the gazebo but they were in special bags and we didn't bother to look at them because we were told that the gazebo would be OK with winds up to 30 mph. We thought that if the wind picked up we could then use the weights. Wrong!! The weights are designed for the base plates of the legs to slot into them - before it is erected. Each of the six weights is about 35lb and I had to work out how to get them to stay on the base plates as they kept rocking about. I managed it eventually but my poor old back wasn't too happy. :cry3:

There was no wind at 5 a.m. this morning but it is picking up a bit now. It's forecast to get pretty windy from 11 a.m. and die down tonight.

      Lots to do out there.

      Have a great day :D

Good morning Kandy,Woo,Shiney,Bambooruth,Louise D and everyone:)

We still have the winds here at the moment and I'm not sure if they are as strong as yesterday.I had just finished emptying our water butt and used the water on plants in my south facing border that are struggling when the heaven opened and it chucked it down with rain so had to retreat indoors and watched it lashing down onto the plants and trees.I now have a bit of water back in the butt and didn't have to water the garden last night.:DI collected up lots of snails that are going to their new home tonight so hopefully they will feed some birds :yess:

The sun is shining and all is well with the world, apart from the ash cloud that is and all the other disasters going on:rolleyespink:

Hope you all have a lovely day:):sunny:
