    Good morning everyone,

    Moyra,
Good to see you back and I hope they can now start getting your problems sorted out. :)

Thank you all for your good wishes for open day :dbgrtmb:

Yesterday went very well despite the cold and the wind. At least it didn't rain although it seemed to try its hardest. A few hundred people turned up and bought lots of plants, books, honey etc and ate lots of cake :D. The musicians were good (about 15 guitarists) and the singer was fabulous. I've still to do all the calculations but we took over £2,000 and we start again this afternoon (just half a day today).

Mrs shiney's plant sale was the star of the show :yess: :love30:

JWK, Kristen and GCQ turned up and it was good to meet some more of the GC crowd.

Got to start getting things ready so have a great day :D

      Morning Everyone,

Bit more sunshine this morning thankfully. Should be better for Shiney's Open Day.

Thank you Kandy. I am religiously doing the exercises they have told me to do but I am not hopeful of it resolving the problems. After waiting 7 weeks for my x-ray results they showed wear and tear and degeneration of the spine in the lumbar region. Not a lot can be done for that except as they hope to strengthen the muscles around that area to hold it up so to speak!

Good morning to everyone on this BH morning:D

It is dull out there this morning and rain is forecast for today but at the moment everywhere is dry but still windy. We have had the heating on again because it has turned colder.Roll on summer:D

Shiney, great news with the money raised for the charity.:yess:Do they use the money for play and learning equipment or is it to keep the place running?

Moyra,I know where you are coming from as I have been there done that.Try to keep going with the exercises as they will help.:thumbsup:I've just been prescribed Piroxicam Gel that I have to use three times a day but can only use for a month and I am finding it very good.I was told by the Dr to get some Glucosamine which I have just got but it also has Chondroitin in it which I am not sure is ok with my meds,so will have to ask about that one:DSwimming is a good exercise to do for strenthening the back muscles but best ask your health care team first:)

We had to buy a couple of Butternut squash plants yesterday as ours have stopped dead due to the cool weather and at this rate it will be September before they are large enough to put out and I sowed them at the begining of May:what:

Hope you all have a lovely day and enjoy it with family or friends :sunny:

Hi Kandy, Cannot take the Glucosamine and Chondroitin orally as it upsets my hiatus hernia. I have tried the 'rub' but it doesn't seem to do much good. Get on better with the ibuprofen rub, much better. I am sticking with the exercises and not finding them onerous at all. It's a lovely day here and I have managed to stick and tie all my sweet corn plants.

      Have a good day everyone.

      Good morning everyone,

Welcome everyone to another beautiful day blessed with lots of lovely sunshine and blue skies and birdies singing:D

Moyra, sorry to hear the Glucosamine doesn't agree with you.I am hoping it does me some good:)This gel is working quiet well and I am once more pain free but after the month of use is up will have to perhaps try another type.We haven't been able to put out our toms or sweetcorn yet as we have been battered by strong winds and yesterday we had rain for most of the day so couldn't get any work done either in the garden or on the allotment:mad:

I was hoping the wind had dropped but we still have it breezy out there at the moment but it is going to get hotter again by the end of the week:yess:

      Have a nice day everyone:)

      Morning all.

We've got a lovely blue sky here today, and after all of yesterdays rain, it's much appreciated, I've lots to do outside today!

I'm hoping to update my `Turning over a new leaf thread` sometime this week, which reminds me, I must get the camera out, or it'll be a pretty useless update! :heehee:

Shiney, I'm so glad that your Open Day weekend went well, it's wonderful that you do that.

Hope everyone is in fine form today, have a good one all. xxx

      Good morning everyone,

Thank you all for your good wishes

Sunday went very well and we have broken our record on money raised :yess:. By the time everything is sorted I reckon that the charity will end up with about £3,600 :yahoo:

Clearing up took a long time and we have just taken the marquee back that we borrowed from the village festival committee. It was about 1.30 in the morning that I took back the tea urns that we borrowed from the village hall :phew:.

The grass around the plant sale area is going to take months to recover. Oscar is missing all the people as he had a wonderful time being stroked by everyone.

Kandy, the money goes into the general pot but they don't have any admin expeneses as all that is done by volunteers so everything is used for the benefit of the people that use the place. Some, of course, goes to the maintenance of the building. They have said that with the extra income we have brought they hope to start extra therapy classes for youngsters. :dbgrtmb:

Re butternut squash plants:- if you happen to be going to the Lake District soon I could see that you were able to have some of mine (I don't expect you will be coming down our way).

      Have a great day :D

Good afternoon everyone from the sunny middle part of blighty:cool:although we still have the cool wind with us.

Shiney,we have already been out and got two replacement plants as they are supposed to go in the ground this week but mine are so far behind they will be another few weeks before they are large enough to put out so we might just scrap them as only Mr K eats the fruit anyway.:D

We wanted to do the Lakes this year but when we tried booking at the usual site in January with the lovely views, all the best pitches were gone and they could only offer us a pitch lower down with a good hill walk up the shower block so we have left it this year and are going to Ceredigion{Aberaeron}for a week, then we are off down to Cornwall on your birthday so we doubt if we will be down your way this year, but Thanks for the offer:D

By the way,did you know that Mark Weir had passed away?He was the owner of Honister Mine and crashed his helicopter on the way home from work.I have left a tribute from us on the Julia Bradbury website.I kept meaning to tell you but it kept slipping my mind:wallbang:

      Good morning Kandy and everyone,

Lovely and sunny here this morning and we only have a slight breeze so it does look this time like we have lost that strong windy type stuff that has been messing about with the trees etc this last few weeks and making everywhere feel quiet chilly:D

Shiney,Mrs Shiney and Oscar good work with the amount raised at your open day etc and by the looks of things the charity will be able to put the money to good use and that it will be much valued:dbgrtmb:

Anyway,as the sun is so bright i am going to have to move soon as i can't see what i am typing so had better go and make a start:D

Have a good one everyone and try not to get too burnt:)
