    Good morning Shiney,Penny,Woo and everyone,

Penny are you looking forward to Prince William and Kate visiting Canada this summer?I think they will be very well recieved like Diana was:)

Shiney, touch wood we don't have a bindweed problem in this garden although the flowers look really nice in the hedgerows when we go for our walks outside of the village.:DOur problem is cherry suckers popping up everywhere from our Serrula and Japanese cherries and the suckers on the serrula are especially difficult to pull up when they have got some growth on them:mad:

Two of the cats,Willow and another one I didn't see have just had a fight out in the front garden and I am surprised that the whole street wasn't woken up by them yowling:heehee:Is Fluffy another cat you have taken on Shiney?I haven't heard you mention that one before:D

It's quiet blustery out there again but at least the sun is shining which is nice.Last night the sky stayed lighter longer and we shall get this for a few weeks before the nights start to draw in:mad:

Hope you all have a good day:)

    Good morning everyone,

Kandy, one problem you have to watch out for if the cherry (or plum) suckers come up through the lawn is that over the years they will become woody where you pull them out. They can end up forming a knot on the surface that can damage the blades of the mower. So make sure that you remove them as soon as possible.

I have mentioned, and posted a picture, of Fluffy who is another black and white cat. He is another visitor to the garden but we don't know his human name and cats never reveal their cat names. We call him Fluffy because his tail is big and fluffy just like a foxes brush.

Louise, Monty and Fluffy are not part of our household. Oscar adopted us many years ago, he's about 15 now, lives in our greenhouse and allows us to keep his garden tidy. As he is not a greedy cat he always leaves some of his food. He is given one sachet in the morning and one in the evening and there is always some cat biscuits in his bowl - his bowls are in the propagator in the greenhouse. He still catches rabbits and squirrels.

He doesn't mind if other cats come and eat his food and Monty (from 7 doors away) has been helping himself since he was adopted from a rescue home a few years ago.

Oscar is big (about 17/18 lbs) with no fat on him and Monty is about the same size cat but is now fat as he is a greedy pig and we guess he is well over 20lb. Fluffy is not far off them in size.

In this picture Fluffy has just come out of the greenhouse after having a snack and is sitting by the door and Oscar isn't the least bit bothered about it. He's sitting on a compost bag and you can see where he does some of his scratching on the wooden upright of the greenhouse.

Mrs shiney has just gone off to Hidcote Manor Garden so will be away all day and I shall do some gardening. She goes to all these gardens but I don't like going on one day coach trips. It's going to be a good two hours each way :rolleyespink:.

    Have a great day :D

Hello everyone, hope you are all fair dinkum. Lovely cats Shiney, you're a bit like me cats come into the garden from all around. I have no idea whose they are but I leave a bowl of water out for them and any scraps that might appeal to cats as and when there are some. I do not encourage them to rely on me entirely for their food or they would never go home. Still on the rotten tramadol asked the chemist about it he said it is not something you can come off cold turkey. He suggested I ask my doctor. Trouble is they do not do smaller doses than 50mg. I am not going to bother too much about coming off them while Steve is away fishing as it might be a bit dodgy while I am on my own. I am down to single tablets and leave it for as many hours as I can without feeling ill and then take one just as I start to feel queezy and shivery. Chemist agreed should be on the narcotics list.

Have a good day everyone. Keeps looking like rain but nothing today so far.

Good morning Louise,Shiney,Woo, Moyra,Penny and everyone,

Lovely photo of the cats Shiney. You look like you have as many cats as us visiting/living with you. There are some good weights there as well.No wonder you have back problems :heehee:

Shiney I have spotted some tiny seedlings in the front lawn so will be able to mow them, but the larger one in the border Mr K will have to take it up with a large fork. The serrula ones are all in the borders and are a right pain in the bum to pull/dig up especially when they get quiet large if they have been hiding amongst other plants :mad:Hope Mr Shiney had a good day over at Hidcote.:thumbsup:I think I have been there many years ago but can't remember so I might not have:scratch:

Louise, hope you are ok and looking forward to seeing some piccys of your Millie and Maddie:thumbsup:

Moyra, sorry to haer of your problems with Tramadol.I have never had to use it thankfully but when I had Sciatica for eleven months the other year the Dr gave me a muscle relaxant drug to help me sleep but I didn't take all of them as I was worried about not waking up again.I can't even remember the name of them but they weren't Tramadol.Hope you manage to cope ok while Steve is away fishing and you keep as well as you aree able to:)

The tennis was very good yesterday and nice to see murray through to the next round:DWe also had some rain but I managed to get the lawns mown first with my newly repaired lawnmower before we got some heavy rain but still manged to get over to the allotment to pick fruit and harvest veggies:)

It is going to get hotter by the wekend and London could see the temperatures go up to 28c by Sunday:sunny:

      Have a good day:)

Shiney, you must be running a very good hotel for these visiters to keep returning :D
        They're both lovely cats :)

        Good morning everyone,

Sunny at the moment but rain is forecast. We had a nice drop of the wet stuff yesterday and the garden is responding very well to it. :thumb:

I was wrong about how long Mrs shiney's journey would be. It was four hours each way on the coach! :rolleyespink: She said that Hidcote was fantastic.

moyra, I hope you are able to reduce the tramadol. Ask the doctor whether you can take just half a tablet. I can't remember what a friend of mine was on but he was able to do it that way. I wish you loads better :impheart:

Kandy, I got some mowing done yesterday but just got the mower near the shed when the heavens opened. I rushed the mower into the shed and left the grass box outside as I wasn't going to get myself soaked carrying it all the way to the compost :). The journey from the shed to the house seems twice as long when it's pouring with rain :heehee:

Louise, Fluffy is very nervous of us as he always runs when we get near  but he and Oscar seem OK together. I've never seen the cats any closer together than that except when they fight.

I'll do a bit more mowing today if the rain holds off and then go and visit some of my ex-staff - and get all the gossip :heehee:

        Have a great day :D

        Good morning everyone,

It feels colder this morning but I think they did say it was going to get colder before it gets hotter. At least the sun is shining out there:D

Shiney glad that Mrs Shiney liked Hidcote but sorry that the journey was longer than she anticipated:mad:

I got soaked twice as well Shiney.I don't ming getting wet when I ham in my birth skin but hate with a passion getting wet when I am fully clothed:DI am glad I got the lawns mown the other day but still have the edges to sort out so they look a bit neater:)Hope you had a good time catching up with all the gossip. Our village is full of it here...

I popped up my friends house yesterday and just as I was goin gin the back door spotted a very large moth on her house wall. She freaked out but her kids loved it.:heehee:I took it away and it turns out to be a Privet Hawk Moth the largest moth in the UK.When Mr Kandy came home and had got some photos of it we took it up to our woodland and released it,just hoping a bat doesn't eat it though:rolleyespink:

        Enjoy your day everyone:sunny:

        Good morning everyone,

Yesterday was reasonably warm and we didn't get all the rain that they did at Wimbledon. I managed to survive it with the aid of my trusty brolly . At the moment it is very sunny and I expect it to start warming up in readiness for the heatwave on Sunday.

I haven't got a lot planned for today and I think I'll take it easy as my back and knee are playing up at the moment. A little gentle gardening, a bit of a stroll and some pottering around in my office should be enough - but I take a bet that something will crop up that I'll have to deal with :heehee:.

Kandy, is that the moth with the pink striped body?

        Have a great day :D

Morning Shiney, Kandy et al. Lovely morning this morning.

Shiney I wish I could half the capsules of tramadol but I cannot still I went 12 hours without a top up so that's good. I'll get there eventually but if I hear of anyone being dispensed them to take I shall warn them that they are an opiate and very addictive.

Very disappointed to discover that my second sack of potatoes just hadn't developed, pea sized potatoes is all got out of it..................where did that go wrong?

        Have a good day all.

Moyra do you find the Tramadol good to use?I assume it is a strong medication to take away the pain from the sciatica.Hope you manage to get off of it eventually and that you manage to get your life back together as I know how debilitating it can be when you have that horrible condition..

Shiney sorry your back and knee are playing up,just take it easy and don't expect too much from your limbs as you and they get older:mute::D

Well we had a good day with the weather yesterday and it didn't start to rain until I was just getting my washing in.then it started and hasn't stopped since.I expect if we get the heatwave tomorrow it will cause humidity that will start the blight spores into action:mad:

Louise, not very pleasant being awake at 2am in the morning and hope you have managed to catch up on your sleep.Love your new Avatar:yess:

        Enjoy your day everyone:)
