    Good morning everyone,

The rain started at 8 p.m. and it's still going. They've forecast 25C today but it's not very warm at the moment.

I'm just popping out to take Mrs Shiney to the station so I may shrink a bit from the rain.

About 6.30 Oscar came to the door of the greenhouse, had a look at the weather and turned round and went back to bed. :D

    Have a great day :D

Hello everyone, nice to see WOO back on board. Hope you are feeling much better.

Kandy, yes the Tramadol is excellent as a painkiller. It is just the addictiveness of it as an opiate. I really think warnings should have been issued. Apparently 50g is the smallest dose you can take and it would be difficult to half as they are capsules full of tiny little beads of the drug. I keep stretching it out as far as I can before taking it but if I leave it too late then I am thrown into a bad flu effect with shakes shivers and sickness. So I am forced to take another one to overcome these withdrawal symptoms. When my son comes back off holiday I will have a go at going through the withdrawal symptoms with perhaps the help of flu medication or something that will alleviate these symptoms. I shall have to ask the doctor. I am off to the specialist care clinic next Wednesday to see what damage has been done to my kidneys through all this medication.......their answer could be yet more medication.............

Nice to see all the veggies coming on at last. Have a good day all.

      Good morning everyone,

It's sunny and warm here now and is forecast to be quite hot.

My trusty old ballbarrow broke yesterday :cry3:. We have had it for about 30 years and is (was) briliant and very easy to use - especially for grass cuttings. It was designed by Dyson but he sold the company and they don't make it anymore. Our other wheelbarrows are not really suitable for lots of grass cuttings and this one can't be repaired as the metal frame has rotted through anmd snapped where it holds the ball. I have another frame but I don't think the body can be taken off the other one without breaking it. I'll get one of my DIY friends to have a look.

woo, take things easy and we are all here rooting for you. :dbgrtmb:

Moyra, I hope the doc can ease you off the Tramadol but don't try doing it on your own. My thoughts are with you. :D

Kandy, my back and knee are a bit better today. I did a lot of mowing yesterday and things were going really well until the barrow broke . I've got to go out there this morning and transfer the grass cuttings to another barrow and then get it to the compost heap. It will take about six trips to do it. My problem is the bending forward to get the clippings out of the ballbarrow.

I shall go off to the open gardens in a town near us. I've got their programme and map as they have 36 gardens open. I don't think I shall go to too many as it will be hot but the allotments are also open so I'll have a look round them. They're even serving teas at the allotments.

      Have a great day :D

Hi Shiney, sorry to hear about the ballbarrow breaking down on you especially as you were trying to use it as well at the time. You need a neighbour like me.I used to cut the grass verges and the lawns back and front for my elderly neighbours and did it for eight years until they passed away one by one and that was with doing ours as well.I nerver used to charge them for doing it as I liked helping them and besides they let me have the grass clippings for the allotment so that was payment enough:yess:

Regarding the knees,I can no longer kneel down in the winter months and at the moment am taking Glucosamine{Dr's suggestion} with added Chondroitin, plus Codliver Oil capsules to try and help my aches and pains and plenty of :sunny: but as I have had Rhuematism{sp}all my life I don't if anything will help it much now :mad:Enjoy the open gardens and don't get too hot.It is already 72f here and it is only 10.45am so will be a hot one as predicted:yess:so hope you don't get too hot round those gardens and allotments:)

The chicken is cooking in the oven but we shant have it with roast taters this week, just going to have it with veggies and our first new potatoes of the year:)

Kandy, you can come and do all my grass cutting and stay in the summerhouse . One cut, front and back, would probably give you 30 or 40 bin bags full :rolleyespink:.

I haven't been able to kneel down for well over 30 years so it puts a strain on my back when I have to do any work close to the ground - but I still get it done eventually. :D

      Enjoy your dinner :dbgrtmb:

      Good morning everyone,

Shiney, you must have fantastic compost with all those lovely grass clippings that you mix in with all your veg waste stuff. My neighbours either side of us give me their clippings so it either goes in the bins and compost bags or else I use it as a mulch on the allotment:D

How did the open gardens go,did you get round to see them all?:)

Woo,Moira,Penny,Louise and everyone, hope you all had a good day yesterday and that it wasn't too hot for you:)

Well it was a really nice day yesterday with the sunshine{81.1f} and i got loads of washing done and hung out so it is nicely dried and just needs the hot iron going over it and it is finished ready to be aired when the conservatory heats up:DWe didn't get a walk in until later on in the evening although the fan was going flat out trying to keep us cool as it got quiet sticky later on and i couldn't sleep through the night because of it.:rolleyespink:

Another scorcher coming up again today and Murray is playing again so will have that to watch at some point although I might have to nip to the allotment to water all the veggies :yay:

      Have a good day everyone:)

      Good morning everyone,

I've had a really good 3 hour sleep so am raring to go and do things. :dbgrtmb:

I emptied the ballbarrow into another barrow to get the clippings to the compost heap and it took five loads to do it. I then spent quite some time working on it and eventually made a complete ballbarrow out of the two broken ones. I think the fixed one has a slow leak on the ball so I'll have to work out how to remove it and fix the other one on. Then it's down to the dump with all the broken parts.

I didn't leave myself too much time for the open gardens so only got to three - I had shopping to do as well as we have someone staying with us tonight.

The first place I went to was the allotments which had a great atmosphere. They had set up a large gazebo at the entrance and were serving tea and cake there and alongside they had a sales area. There were a lot of plots with most of them very well kept. In the middle they had two beehives that belonged to all of them which I thought was a great idea and a number of the plots had small sections with flowers that bees love. There was also a small pond with lots of frogs and toads which helped to keep the slug problem down. They also had a 30ft polytunnel and a few greenhouses, that were also communal, and divided into small sections for some of the plot holders.

The next place I went to had a third of an acre garden (some of the flowers there had been bought at our plant sale ) and they had a choir singing. They were very good but it was a bit hot to stand around listening to them. I managed pick a place under some trees.

The third garden was very formal and very colourful but the plants were too regimented for me. The houseowner's daughter is a singer and she sang blues and light opera and was superb :dbgrtmb:.

By the time I left there I only just had time to get to Sainsbury's. Shortly after I got home I got a phone call from Mrs shiney to say that the trains back from London had all been cancelled because someone had jumped in front of a train. So we quickly worked out where the nearest station on another line was and I had to drive 20 miles to pick her up from there.

Kandy, we always have loads of good compost :thumb:. That's why our soil is so good. :yess:

      have a great day :D

      Good mornng everyone,

What a lovely day yesterday turned out to be although it did get a bit sticky later on in the evening. We had about twenty or so spots of rain but nothing like the storms that was predicted.:D

It is 71.6f indoors at the moment and that is with the lounge window open but only 59.2f outside and we had a tiny bit more rain when i got up but it has stopped for now:heehee:Might even get to the allotment today to pick some more fruit and veggies. It to me is the best part of having an allotment:D

Glad you had a good afternoon out Shiney at the open gardens but I myself would have given the blues and opera singer a miss:mute::DSorry to hear about the train being delayed because someone had ended their life in such a way.It must be terribly traumatic for the train driver and very sad for the families left behind:rolleyespink:

Woo hope you are keeping well and managing to get outside for some nice walks with the girls:dbgrtmb:

Louise how are the cats?,I bet they enjoy some of the sunshine but if they are anything like ours they will soon retreat into the shade when it gets too hot:D

Penny hope the dog enjoyed it's bath and you didn't get too wet.Do you still have the St Bernard type that you had a few years ago?

      Have a good day everyone:)
