      Good morning everyone,

Nice and sunny here today so hopeing to get some work done in the garden again today:)

Shiney hope you got the shopping done ok the other day and sounds like you are like us and don't enjoy the shopping. We have to go on a Saturday usually as Mr K works and refuses to go in the evenings as he is normally worn out by the time he gets home and the amount of groceries we buy is too much for me to manage on my own:D

Louise hope you have a good day at Abbotsbury Sub Tropcal gardens and hope you remember to take your camera with you:)

      Enjoy your day eveyone:sunny:

      Good morning everyone,

Another lovely sunny day here in Shineyland :dbgrtmb:

I spent a lot of time yesterday (4 hours) cutting down the knee high grass in my wild area. This is where a lot of our wild flowers grow and I have left it until the seeds have set. I remove the seed heads, cut the grass and then sprinkle the seed heads around the cut area. The only parts I didn't do are where the bee orchids are as their seeds don't set for a few weeks yet.

Kandy, I don't mind shopping but don't like doing it on a Saturday. I never manage to get round Sainsburys without meeting at least half a dozen ex customers or staff. I also chat to the staff of Sainsburys - typical old person :heehee:. The butcher called me over and said that he was doing a special on shoulder of lamb and I got some at £4 per kg .

Louise, have a good time at Abbotsbury and keep an eye out for this lovely fellow.

        Hi Shiney,

Lovely photo of a Golden Pheasant and he is quiet a beauty:dbgrtmb:Is Abbotsbury Sub Tropical gardens the same place as Abbotsbury Swannery as I remember Mr K's Auntie and Uncle taking us to see swans with their cynets and some of them were the black sort but don't remember any tropical gardens. This was back in the early 80's so can't really remember a lot about it :D

Yes we have the same problem at Tesco's and have a very nice lady whos till we always go to if we can and have quiet a bit of banter with her and in the New Year she always gives me a hug {not Mr K :heehee:}and wishes me a Happy New Year and her nickname for me is Mrs Skinny:o:D

I forgot to ask you again if you pull up the whole of the Aquiliags{sp}or just take off the seed heads as ours are starting to swamp other plants so might have to get rid of a few of them

Enjoy your day and glad you got the dishwasher sorted:thumbsup:.Mine keeps breaking down so have to give him a good kick every now and again and that does the trick:heehee:

        Hi Kandy,

Yes, the two places are along the road from each other

This time of year we cut the aquilegias down to just above the leaves and in a couple of months cut them to the ground. Don't just cut off the seed heads as the stalks can become very sharp and you can get hurt working among them. You could cut them right down and they will produce nice young leaves fairly quickly.

Any plants that are in the way can be dug out now and potted up and sold (in the spring) or given away. You could dig a number of them up, stick them in a box or plastic bag, and take them to the allotment. Some of our friends have taken ours to their allotments and plant them around the border, with plants that flower around June, so that they attract pollinating insects for their veggies.

Kicking lazy dishwashers (or a smack roung the ear) is the recommended action. :dbgrtmb:

          Shopping

Have you considered the home delivery order on line Tesco, Asda,Sainsbury
          They are very good,
They do pick the best of stuff you order, and IF you do not want what they sent then you can send it back, instant refund
Some delivery times are FREE, and the others vary in price, according to the popularity/prime time
They do deliver within fifteen minutes of your requested time

We used to go mid week evenings when I got home from work, much prefer a one hour quiet shop to Prime time Saturday at the Bullbait and queues
Saves money as you do not impulse buy, gives you your prime weekend time back, and relax that evening after work

Err I do not think Harrods does it though, but your butler would attend to that :)

            Good morning everyone,

Jack, (good to see you on this thread :dbgrtmb:) my butler hates shopping but I quite enjoy it - when I go without Mrs Shiney, who is happy with the arrangement :heehee:. Apart from the occasional toiletry and cleaning items I only buy fresh food and prefer to pick out exactly what I want . 'Impulse buy' is not in my vocabulary  and neither is 'work' :loll:

It's rather dull out there this morning but I have lots of emails to reply to and paperwork to do before opening up the bridge club this afternoon.

            Have a great day :D

              Good morning everyone,

02,lovely to see you again and hope all is well with you and your family:dbgrtmb:

Jack by the time we have sat at the computer and listed all that we need it would be just as quick to go there oursleves plus Mr Kandy usually needs to fill up with fuel so can do that at the same time.We only go once every two weeks and try to get there early before all the old pensioners get there{why they can't go in the week i'll never know}:Dso can choose our own produce without having to worry about the wrong stuff being deliverd or having to stand with the front door wide open in the winter months while the chappies unload the stuff:D

Just had a text from one of my friends in the village to say her father passed away last evening and my sisters ex father in law succomed to that horrible C disease last Friday evening so at the moment it seems like lots of people are passing away and it usually goes in threes so wonder whos next :mute:

Very dull here this morning and can't make up my mind whether to head for the lottie or go and get my troll locks shortened:D

Shiney good luck with the emails and bridge game this afternoon:yess:

              Enjoy your day everyone:)

              Good morning everyone,

Shiney thanks for the info you gave me regarding the plants so will get started in cutting them right back so i don't poke my eye out on the seed stalks:DI shall probably ask you the same info again this time next year as i will have forgotten again what you have told me:heehee:How are your pears and apples coming along? Our victoria plum is loaded and we have loads of fruit on both the apples and the Conference pear and a few on the Williams and Mr Kandy has had to prop up one of the pear branches as the rabbits can sit and nibble the fruit as the branch hangs down to the ground:mad:

It's a bit cooler today with no sun but at least it is dry. I am going into town to get my hair cut and to spend some gift cards i have if i see something i like.:D

              Enjoy your day:sunny:

              Good morning everyone,

It looks as though it is trying to rain but not quite managing it.

Kandy, all our fruit trees are doing fantastically this year :yess:. I picked my first golden plum yesterday and the tree is laden with them. The black plum tree is not quite as heavy but they don't usually ripen until late September. The Williams pear tree is the heaviest I have ever seen it and I'm a bit worried about the branches breaking under the weight. We can't prop the branches up as the tree is too big. It's 60 years old - as are most of our fruit trees. Conference pears (my favourite) are also doing very well but they always do. Apples are pretty good as well and we picked one eating apple the other day - much earlier than usual.

The runner beans have recovered from the rabbit damage and we're picking about 1.5lb per day. They don't look as though they will produce quite as much as usual but it might pick up.

I hope they don't charge you too much for your haircut. Prices have risen quite a bit in the last year or so. I shall probably go and get mine cut tomorrow but, fortunately, I don't pay for mine. Although I've been retired for 10 years now I can go to any of my ex-staff (in many different salons) for my haircut and they all refuse to take money from me. So I usually take some produce from the garden. I'll take some beans, courgettes, tomatoes and rhubarb.

              Have a great day :D
