    Good afternoon everyone:)

Running a bit late here as I went over to our allotment first thing and managed to get three hours digging done on the plots but had to pack up in the end as I was starting to feel worn out and was glowing quiet well.I took some grub with me which I shared with another plot holders dog so she was happy and spent half the morning throwing a stone for her to find.:D

Good job I packed up at twelve as it started raining on the way home and is drizzling quiet well but at least the lawns and flowers/veggies are getting a good drink now :p so Shiney your stuff like ours will get a good drink so they might get a move on,same as the weed seeds :heehee:

Had some good results when i went to see the nurse yesterday and she is really pleased with my control {5.6:yess::yay: from 5.7}so don't have to go back until the end of September to see her again :D

To celebrate me and Mr Kandy went for a three mile march over at our local water after dinner last night and just got back to the car before it got too dark:D

Hope you all have a good afternoon and go easy on the digging etc :D

Hello Shiney, Kandy and et al.

Kandy, I couldn't help but notice you said that perhaps Metformin is causing you to have raised ulric acid. I have been suffering so much lately with sciatica but also apart from that high ulric acid and my ankles have been so painful and lumpy on the ankle joint and although it is hard to say whether it is part and parcel of the sciatica which goes right down my left leg I was wondering if some of it was gout. Although usually when I get that it is in the big toe joint and upper foot. I went for a blood test for my diabetes, thyroid, liver function and cholesterol etc on Monday so hopefully when I get the results from that I will know what the situation is. Has it been confirmed that metformin is responsible for your raised ulric acid? Regards, Moyra

    Hi Moyra,

I didn't realise that you were a Diabetic.I assume you are like me a Type2?I thought I was the only member on here with it.Have you had it a long time and how are you coping with it if you don't mind me asking :)

I asked the nurse about the raised Uric Acid levels and she said they were ok but the Phlebotamist{sp}said last Friday that they were raised so she must have seen the results.I completely forgot to ask her whether the Metformin could be causing the problem because on the Diabetes UK Forum they have mentioned it on there at times.I showed the nurse my nobbly finger joints and she said to go back and see the Dr because even though the blood tests didn't show up either Osteo or Rhumatoid Arthritis they are not 100% accurate and that I need more tests doing to find out why my ankles and other joints are so painful especially if I knock them on anything.:mad:I have another appointment with the Dr in two weeks when he gets back from his hols and I am going to see if I can be tested for Sero Negative Arthritis so will let you know how I get on.

Have you tried a new bed to help with the Sciatica, and also I have found that wearing different footware when out walking, walking on grass instead of tarmac the new bed plus keeping on moving has really helped my problem, although if I stand still for too long and then start leaning to the left side,I get the pins and needles start in my bum so have to start walking about again.:D

You can ring up within a few days after having your bloods taken as I find I am too impatient to wait until I see the nurse:heehee:

Sorry for boring any of you readers but you know what us woman are like for talking about our problems, and sometimes it does us good to get it off of our chests so to speak rather than sticking our heads in the sand like the men do until it is too late for them :runhills:

Hi Kandy, thanks for coming back to me. Yes it is type 2 diabetes but I also have osteoarthritis, haitus hernia and hypertension to name a few of my ailments. I was diagnozed diabetic last July and on the whole testing my blood morning and night until this last week I have generally with only a couple of exceptions stayed within the limits 4 - 7. I have had gout on a number of occasions and that was always down to the diuretic given to correct the water retention caused by the hypertension tablets. So my diuretic has had to be changed a number of times. Because of the hiatus hernia I have to be careful what painkillers I take and Lansoprazole and metoclopromide have to be taken to protect my stomach. I was given naxoproxen this week to combat the pain of the sciatica and my lansoprazole dosage was doubled. The naproxen didn't touch the sciatica and I had to go back on to 400 mg of ibuprofen. My blood test was taken on Monday at the hospital and the doc has phoned today to say he wants to see me tomorrow so hopefully he has received the results back. My main problem is because of the osteoarthritis in spine and all joints I have limited mobility and walking is difficult even without sciatica but with it I do have to try and keep on my feet as much as possible as sitting like this is really painful. I have had an ice pack on my back for a half hour or so to help alleviate the pain and I am about to try it again to see if it will ease it off. When I see the doc tomorrow I will ask him about the metformin in case that is true that it causes ulric acid. I will let you know what he says. Moyra

    Morning everyone!!!

Thought I'd inject a bit of colour for us, as it's a rather grey and bedraggled start to the day here. We've got friends coming over this weekend, so today I shall mostly be doing household chores, in readiness for their arrival. Mind you, with it being such a drab start to the day, I wouldn't be able to get much done outside anyway.[IMG]

Shiney, that's wonderful. I wish you every success with your open day. I remember seeing photo's from the one you did last year, and it looked brilliant!!

Woo Kandy, Morya & Penny, hope you all have a wonderful day. Louise, don't get blown away!!!

Have a great day all. xxxxx

Yes, Good luck with your open day Shiney.

Thanks for your good wishes everybody. Kandy, I got so involved with the other problems raised by my blood test results, which weren't good, I forgot to ask him about the metformin. But I do know my old diuretics I was on before caused gout. Anyway he has given me Tramadol Hydrochloride for my sciatica and mercy relief at last! I feel zapped out now but that's good as I shall probably get some sleep at last. Alas my blood test results have proved that my haemoglobin is low, my diabetes sugars are ok, but he says the diabetes is probably responsible for low functioning kidneys. I had to go to the hospital for x-rays on the lower spine and should get those results in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, he has referred me to Fortis healthcare for specialist care for my kidneys, so not sure what's involved there but I should hear from them within 7 days. So at last things are moving and I feel quite light headed to be without chronic pain for a change. Just a bit of a dead leg still. The doc thinks the sciatica is probably caused by my osteoarthritis of the spine and joints.

It was lovely to see my peas shooting through this morning, just hope the collared doves leave them alone! My beetroot have also shown through too. It's lovely once things start to grow. Have a good evening everyone.

    Good morning everyone,

It's still blowing up a storm here but is quite mild . One lawn is looking pink with all the cherry blossom covering it :)

We didn't get a lot of rain but at least the garden got a drink and the plants are looking better for it.

I'm gradually being able to do a bit more in the garden without having to take painkillers afterwards so things are looking up. :dbgrtmb:

When it brightens up a little I shall get out there and see whether there are any photos worth taking.

Keep well and have a great day :D
