    Morning everyone,

Glad the rain held off for your visit to the Chilli Festival Shiney. The Hairy Bikers are quite a pair and really down to earth characters aren't they?

Kandy enjoy your extra day with Mr. K. and I hope you find your way back from the station tomorrow ok.

Penny hope you are coping ok. I expect you are 'seeing' Kobe out of the corner of your eye in all his favourite places. That's how it was with me after I lost Chloe 2 years ago. I am finding that I am calling Amber Chloe more often than not because she is still so much a part of my life.
Spoil yourself to cheer yourself up!

    Have a good day everyone.

      Good morning everyone,

Just poking my head in....I'm off to Toronto and then have to drive back up the 400 (major highway) into Barrie and make 3 stops there, and then home.

      Have a good day everybody.

Thanks Moyra....it is odd, in the 19 years since we bought this house, this is the first time in 18 of those, that we havent had a dog in the house......very odd feeling, and i dont think i like it and its the same with Brad.

I've just come in from working in the garden.

A 9" diameter trunk on one of our plum trees has broken under the weight of the crop. I've sawn it off near the main trunk and cut it into 2 x 7ft lenghts and dragged them to the bonfire. I took loads of plums off the broken branches and have also been picking lots from all over the tree. I'll sell them tonight.

I picked another load of beans which I shall also sell tonight. :dbgrtmb:

I've had to do a temporary repair on the greenhouse but, unfortunately, the greenhouse is gradually rotting. I put it up in 1976 so it has done well. At some stage it is going to finally give up but I hope it will hang on for quite a few years yet otherwise Oscar will be homeless :cry3:. It's too expensive to replace. :(

It's brightening up out there and is quite mild. :dbgrtmb:

      Hi Everyone,

Kandy, glad you found your way back from the station and Mr. K arrived at his destination ok.

Penny, the house will feel empty without Kobe, don't wait two years to get another dog like I did. I am sure there are lots of dogs out there crying out for a good home you could give them.

      Have a good day everyone.

Most of my fruit and veg gets sold at the bridge clubs I go to. Most of it is sold at the Tuesday afternoon club. Yesterday I sold 18lb of beans (@ £1 per lb), 20lb Williams pears (@ £1 per 2lb), 10lb plums (@ £1 for just over 1lb). As well as that, I sold local honey (1lb jars) at £3 each. The honey is local and produced by a friend for her charity.

The evening clubs I go to I find that the people are a bit rushed so I usually only sell to people that have ordered from me.

Mrs shiney also sells some to her yoga and pilates classes.

As I have been doing this for some years now there are a lot of people that don't bother to grow their own runner beans and just get them from me.

I also sell other things in season like toms, rhubarb and apples.

We have our plant sale on Open Day but people also order plants from us and get us to do their hanging baskets. Mrs shiney propagates loads of plants and I sell them during the year (last week I took 24 young hebes to the club and sold them in 3 minutes at 50p each).

Some people put signs outside their houses selling fruit, veg and plants but I can sell everything we produce so don't need to. :dbgrtmb:

          :spinning:Very nice!

Regarding honey, in spite of the fact that it is an excellent food source with many good properties etc...I find myself buying a jar, tasting a little of it and then leave it in the cupboard untouched for months and months...

I really should give it more consideration in my diet...

          Good morning everyone,

Couldn't sleep so decided to get up and make an early start on the day.:D

Picked Mr K up ok from the station and he was shattered as the course he was on was two days worth crammed into one day and then his lunch break was cut from an hour to three quarters so he felt that everything was rushed. The best bit he said, though was sitting in the train and actually seeing some sunshine after being stuck in a building for eight hours with tall buildings all around and not being able to even see the sun shining. He is so glad he doesn't have to work in London every day:happydance:

          Have a good day everyone:)

          Good morning everyone,

The sun is trying to come out and play :sunny:

Kandy, you obviously found your way back to the station OK . Mr K didn't get any time to explore the big city but it can be very interesting.

We may take some photos of the Guildhall today and if anything seems worth it I may post them on GC. The travelling should be quite easy for us as we shall park about half a mile from the station and walk (car park is too expensive) and it is only 35 minutes to Liverpool Street. From there it's about a 10 minute walk to the Guildhall. After the ceremony and a wander round the Guildhall we're off to a pub, The Lord Raglan, for drinkies and nibbles.

After that, if the weather is OK, we'll have a wander round The City and see how it has changed in recent years (I was at school there and Mrs shiney worked there for over 30 years). When I was at school, in ancient times :heehee:, the street lights outside our school were still gaslights. I remember the old gaslighter coming down the road on his bike and lighting the street lights with a flame on the end of a long pole :rolleyespink:.

I've got a load more orders for plums for tomorrow night as the plums are really tasty this year. :dbgrtmb:

          Have a great day :D

          Morning Shiney,

Mr K was in the Royal Exchange building all day and the course would have gone on longer but Mr K and another chap had trains to catch so didn't want to be there too long into the evening. It was bad enough that they had to cram so much into the day.He was given a Luncheon Voucher booklet and so he and his mate walked to the nearest McDondalds for some grub as his mate wanted one of those meals so Mr K tagged along:D

Hope your day goes well.:thumbsup:Mr K never took his camera as he wouldn't have had time to go round taking piccys but did catch a glimpse of the new Shard?building going up..The building he was in has eight columns holding it up and looks a bit Greek to me on the photo he had printed off of the net:D

Finding the station wasn't too bad as i just had to go under the railway bridge, round the new roundabout layout{that was the hardest bit}off a bit to the right, straight up the road, right into Station road and the station is in front so was easy peasy.Just had to remember all that in reverse after that:D

You must be very ancient if you can remember Gas lights. You was probably around when Jack was about as well:mute::D

Mr K picked ten bags of Marjory Seedling plums on Monday and because of the heavy rain last Friday/Saturday a lot of them had split so am quickly working on the split ones to get them into the freezer as we lost most of them last year to the same problem and they were in a worse state than this years harvest.A couple of our branches needed propping up and two of them have split so he needs to quickly get them pruned before silver leaf get in:D

          Enjoy your day:)
