    Hello folks,

I envy you your plum trees. I love plums. Reminds me I must walk Amber over the local fields there is land there that was at some time somebody's orchard before it was taken over by the Council as green space. There are apple trees and a greengage tree and lots and lots of Damson trees so I can go scrumping over there. Not that it is really scrumping but the fruit is there for the picking. It's a long walk though for me with my crutches and a bit rough going.

    Have a good day all.

    Good morning Kandy,
Yes you are early again - sorry to hear about your bad night.

The forecast is for a dry day here in Surrey so I am hoping to get some gardening done, also some 'catch-up' on other jobs as I've been out such a lot this week.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Good morning everyone,

Kandy, I think our street was the last one in London to have the gaslights removed :rolleyespink:

If you're referring to Jack the Ripper then here is an extract from the family tree about one of my ancestors ...

, who was born in 1870 a few months after his father had died, is one of the very few people who may have seen the killer known as ‘Jack the Ripper’. It has been reported that on 30th September 1888, when he was only 18, Nathan said that he had left a working man’s social club in Commercial Street, Whitechapel heading for home. On turning into Berner St. at approx. 1.00am he saw a man holding a large narrow bladed knife standing over a woman who was lying motionless on the ground. It appears that Nathan had disturbed the man seconds after the woman had been killed. His story is very credible as the incident he described exactly matches in with the official police reports of the time. It followed that the body of ELIZABETH STRIDE was not mutilated. Mutilation was the usual practice of ‘Jack the Ripper’ after a kill and it was concluded that ‘Jack the Ripper’ was probably disturbed only moments after he stabbed Elizabeth Stride to death.

Yesterday was a lovely day for us to go up to London and the 'Freedom of the City' ceremony was very good. The old part of the building was quite interesting and is almost 800 years old. We were allowed to go into the old part although it was being cleaned and renovated so were able to see it without lots of people there :dbgrtmb:. The last time I was there was in 1955 when they had just put in the statue of Churchill.

It's nice and sunny now and looks likely to be another good day.

    Have a great day :D

At the LONDON DUNGEON there is a special section dedicated to Jack the Ripper and it is really catching.

PS enjoy your show, Louise d. For us it is uniform hunting day today, to be all ready for school start of next week.

    Good morning everyone,

Yesterday was hot and sunny :sunny: and I got quite a bit done in the garden. Lots of mowing, a bit of digging and tidying up, picked beans, 50lb of plums and 40lb of conference pears. Standing with my head tilted back and looking up in the trees doesn't do my bad neck and vertigo much good so had to be careful whilst doing it.

It's already in the low 60's and very muggy and they forecast upper 70's and very humid. So I'll just make it a gentle day with lots of doing nothing but sitting in the shade with a good book and an Oscar :kittykiss:. This may be interspersed with periods of eating and drinking with the occasional putting of pen to paper to make some of the pile of paper disappear. :dbgrtmb:

    Have a great day :D
