    Good evening everyone,

Kandy, we have been very lucky with the weather this week. There has been some heavy rain but only at night. Some mornings it has been drizzling or raining but by the time we have had a leisurely breakfast and got out and about the rain has stopped :dbgrtmb:.

Yesterday was typical with drizzle early, then we went off for some retail therapy (I just left them to it and used the in-store internet :yess:) and then went to a garden centre with friends. A light lunch in the garden centre and then out for a walk in the brilliant sunshine :sunny:. That was followed by a nice meal in an Italian restaurant and then the theatre.

Today was an even more leisurely start to the day then we and our friends went out for a long walk (a bit longer than we intended - 9 miles :phew:) dropping in to Mrs Edmondson for tea and cake on the way. Tonight we're all off to the Sun for a meal. At the start of our walk it was dull and still a bit damp but after about an hour it got quite hot and humid with the sun coming and going.

The whole week has been similar with the promised all day rain only appearing at night. I think the tail end of the hurricane is only likely to hit the far north west. I wouldn't mind being a weather forecaster as they get paid whether they get it right or wrong.

    Have a great day :D

    Good morning moyra and everyone,

Have been grocery shopping this morning so only just getting time to come on here, plus have been getting loads of ironing done before Mr K surfaced:D

Shiney I bet you knew that you had done that 9miler and i assume it was in Newlands valley and Mrs Edmondson is the pot of tea farm lady?:DWe didn't stop there last time we were up in the Lakes as they were sheep dipping and the whole area stunk of strong disinfectant type smells and was a bit too wiffy for us :rolleyespink:Glad you have enjoyed yourself apart from the retail therapy bit though:D

We have some breeze here from the tail end of that Hurricane that has hit blighty but at least it is nice and warm for once inside and out:D

    Have a good day everyone:sunny:

    Quite true Kandy !
I often say it because i presume that everyone knows i live high up on a hillside ..... and of course they don't !

I'm dreading those winds because i'm scared that my 2 new prunus will be uprooted - they've only been in the ground about 10 months :(
They're well staked but the winds will uproot shubs that have been in the ground 5 years so these new trees are liable to be doing a Mary Poppins and sailing into next doors garden :(

It could also be the obelisks that go for a flying lesson :(:gaagh:

    Good afternoon everyone,

We have just returned from a lovely day walking in the woods around a lake. The weather was a bit variable with drizzly showers blown by strong winds interspersed with sunshine. The trees kept most of the water off us so it was very pleasant - and warm.

Kandy, you worked that out well. :yess:

This evening we're off to friends for dinner and to watch the Last Night of the Proms with them.

Enjoy the rest of your day :D

    Good morning everyone,

It is nice and sunny out there for us today:happydance: and the breeze has dropped quiet a bit from yesterday:yahoo:

Louise,we are on the top of a hill as well but ours is a gradual incline although for 363 days of the year we have constant breeze which is good for drying the washing but it does dry the trees and shrubs out.We often find we have different weather than those who live down in the next village:D

Shiney, good guess from a blondie then:D I like the last night of the proms as well...mainly the last ten minutes where the prommers do their bit and sing Land of Hope and Glory, the rest of it you can keep, although i did smile a bit last night when that old girl dressed as Britannica nearly lost her helmet a few times :heehee:

    Have a good day everyone:)

    Good afternoon everyone,

Well, we had a very good week in the Lake District and were lucky enough to have pretty good weather. It helped that we had lazy mornings as that was when it rained. We didn't get out walking until almost 11 a.m. each day so the rain had stopped and most afternoons were clear and sometimes very sunny. So we had dry walking except for 5 - 10 minutes one day and 20 minutes another :yess:

We got back home to a small disaster as about 80 of our bean plants have been blown down by the wind :cry3:. To make matters worse, those are the second sowing so should have much more life left than the first sowing which are still standing. They were so heavy that Mrs shiney and I had difficulty in lifting them up so that I could prop them (haven't checked yet this morning to see whether they have survived the strong winds last night). Oscar helped with the work by making sure that I was anchored properly whilst lifting the plants - he sprawled himself acrossd both of my feet :heehee:.

We've got hundreds of emails to wade through and about a hundred snail mail which I'm dealing with at the moment.

    Have a great day :D

    Good morning everyone,

Shiney,we prefere sunny weather when we have holiday walks as there is nothing worse than having to walk through wet grass and muddy conditions as we end up spending more time trying to see where we are walking and then end up missing the beautiful scenery of our surroundings:D

Sorry to hear about the mishap with your bean canes.:cry3:One of our bean canes had snapped when we went to pick more beans at the weekend and I dread to think what ours look like now with yesterdays wind.I was going to check on them but as there was a lot of trees falling round about on the roads decided to stay at home and get our lawns mowed and edged and also cut our neighbours lawn as her partner has had back surgery and can't get out to do it so i did it for them:D

I do hope everyone got away lightly without too much structural damage:thumbsup:

    Good morning everyone,

Its sunny and nice here today, and we did get some much needed rain overnight.

    Off to Toronto again today.

They said on the news that we should cover veggies and planst this weekend, the temperature is supposed to dip way down and we could get some frost!!
