Good morning everyone hope you are all ok and looking forward to Christmas:D

Woo,just take it slowly and leave some for another day,or failing that leave it until the warmer weather comes:thumbsup:

Moyra,my back only starts to play up when I spend too long working at the lottie and usually when my muscles get a bit cold. Thanks for your kind words though.:) Hope you enjoyed your walk with Amber:thumbsup:

Shiney it was that same lady who told me that by law we have to have a till receipt but as i said before no one working there gives us one and i don't always think to ask.It is a shame as it has put me off shopping there now as myself and a lot of the villagers can't really afford to keep losing money all the time.No wonder it is called rip off Britain:D

Hope Loli, and Louise D,Penny.Jazmine and everyone else are all ok and surviving the onslaught of crimbo:)

We had some heavy rain last night and more wind and rain os forecast for this week so I hope everyone in this fair country of ours manages to come through it unscathed:)

Morning Everyone, was expecting it to be a bit warmer out there this morning but I still felt the chill when I walk Amber.

They say we are going to get 100 mph gales. I still have a gazebo up, well anchored down but I wonder if the strength of the gales will rip the cover. I hope not because it is nice to have somewhere under cover out there for Amber to relieve herself and to hang the odd bit of washing out.

Well have a lovely day all no matter what the weather may bring.:sunny:

    Good morning everyone,

We had heavy rain last night for about 30 minutes. There is now a slight touch of frost on the ground and the sun has come out to play :sunny:

We had a very pleasant Christmas open house at our friend's place. We went at lunchtime and and there was good company, good drink and good food. We were told that lunchtime would be soup and rolls and there were two large jam making buckets full of soup (one was pumpkin and the other lentil/veggie). There were also bowls of things you could add to your soup. pasta, chopped peppers, chopped spring onions, etc.

The soup was followed by some lovely cakes (she used to make them professionally) and I had to force myself to try one :heehee:. We met a lot of people from the village that we knew fairly or were just acquaintances and some people that we had never met before. We left mid-afternoon as we had other things to do but, in the evening, there was going to be chilli and other goodies to eat.

It's quite tough entertaining 30 - 40 people all day long so I did all the washing up before we left. Aren't I a good boy! :heehee:

I've got a busy week coming up so it's fortunate that I don't have to do Christmas shopping, as we don't give Christmas presents - except to kids, and there are hardly any in the family at the moment.

Kandy, I always ask for a receipt, and check it, before leaving a store. It became a habit after finding errors in the past. Almost all the errors were due to carelessness and some due to wrong pricing on their computer. Very occasionally it worked in my favour :rolleyespink:. One advantage of now paying everything by credit card is that I automatically keep the credit card receipt so I can check it against my statement when it arrives. The other advantage is that, in January, it also gives cashback as a straight percentage of what I've spent over the year :dbgrtmb:. So the £100 I spent the other day on petrol  will give me £1.50 cashback in January . It adds up to a nice sum of money over the year :dancy:

Keep well, keep warm, don't get blown away and have a great day :D

    Good morning everyone,

Shiney we pay for a lot of things with our cc and the one we use we get site night vouchers back so when we go away in the caravan don't have to pay the full price on the holiday but now thye have put up the points so you need even more before you get the vouchers:mad:I was paying cash for the groceries so that after Christmas we don't have to start the new year with such a big bill:D

We had quiet heavy rain here last evening with torrential rain so we missed our evening walk but the rain has now stopped but it is still a bit breezy out there.Seeing waht the weather forecast is I am glad now we have cancelled our usual going away this crimbo:D

    Enjoy your day everyone:)

    Good morning everyone,

Yesterday was a lovely sunny day followed by a wet and windy evening. It's not raining now and not too windy and looks as though the sun will be out to play again today :sunny:

It's a busy day again today as I'm running a big charity bridge drive. There will be about 90 people there we have to organise a light tea (sandwiches, cake, tea, coffee) for everyone around 3.30. I hope tp raise a reasonable amount for Grove Cottage :dbgrtmb: - our usual charity.

Tonight we are going out for an Indian for a friend's birthday celebration.

Before all this I've got to sort out the mice in the loft!!!

    Have a great day :D

Good Morning Everyone, the sun is now emerging after quite a heavy downfall. I took Amber early for her walk before the rain started. The wind was bearable.

Shiney sounds like the open day was quite successful and you sure are a gem to have around.
Lolimac, glad Theo is starting to get about slowly, that's good, hope he will soon be back to normal, bless him.

    Have a great day everyone.:sunny:

It has been brilliantly sunny for the last two hours but clouds are on the horizon.

I've taken a free meal up to the loft for the mice and hope they will dislike it enough not to return.

Unfortunately, now that Oscar is incorporeal, the words seems to be getting around the rodent population. :(

      Morning Everyone,

Enjoy your trip into Toronto today Penny.

Shiney, shame about the build up of mice since you lost Oscar. :(

Our neighbour many years ago told us that they had clever mice because they had moved the heaps of poison from one place to another. It was then that we realized the children's hamster which had gone missing 3 months earlier was not lost for ever so crept into our garage in the dark and surprised hammy one night he was coming back to his old cage occasionally at night. His holiday was over!:happydance:

Hello to WOO, Kandy and Lolimac hope you are keeping ok.:sunny:

        Morning Moyra and everyone,

Moyra glad to Hope Amber is still ok and are you going to be giving her a prezzie at Christmas?:)We used to buy our Tina a squeeky snowman or cracker and she spent all Christmas following us around the house squeeking it:D

Shiney, glad that the open house do went off ok and that you are still enjoying your bridge matches:thumbsup:Sorry about the mouse problems though. We get the problem when the farmers are harvesting the fields round us but don't seem to have any problems in the winter months only problems over at the allotment:mad:

Loli glad to hear that Theo is coming along nicely and looks like he will be back to normal by the time crimbo gets here:)

Woo,hope you are resting up and not overdoing things too much:D

Well,I woke up yesterday with a sore throat and spent the day sneezing and this morning have another sore throat and the snuffles so looks like I have succombed to a winter cold.At least with luck it will be gone before the 25th.Just hope that Mr K doesn't catch it:D

It was bitterly cold yesterday and it isn't much better today but at least I am tucked up in the warm although I shant be having the house too hot:D
