Good morning everyone on this lovely sunny Christmas Eve,

Mrs Shiney and I wish you a very happy and merry Christmas. :dbgrtmb:

This will be our first Christmas at home since well back into the last millenium :) and we shan't be doing much at all. So no preparation necessary. Tonight we're off to my sister, just down the road, where there will be just a small group of our friends and tomorrow we have invited one of Mrs Shiney's patients for Christmas dinner as her husband is in hospital.

We don't do Christmas presents except for children and there aren't any in the family at the moment - we seem to be between generations although it's a big family :D. This morning I'll deliver the last of the presents to the children of my ex-staff :sleigh:

As today seems such a nice sunny one we shall probably get on with tidying up the garden.

Have a great day, keep well, and Merry Christmas to one and all :merryC:

PS,I am up early as there was a couple of youths who decided at 4am to walk along our lane shouting Merry Christmas at the tops of their voices which would have been nice if they hadn't had a skinfull:heehee:

Have a very good day and hope all your wishes and dreams come true:)

Good morning everyone and a very Merry Christmas :dbgrtmb:

Louise, you must have looked at my plan for today. We shall probably be clearing leaves from the flower beds, patio, car port, behind the summerhouse and all the other places they seem to hide themselves. Yesterday I gave the bottom end of the garden its last mowing of the year.

I hope Santa delivered all your presents early this year as I received a letter from him yesterday saying he had resigned. I hope he changes his mind for next year. I posted his letter elsewhere on GC but here it is

    Santa is Quitting

    T'was the night before Christmas,
    Old Santa was pissed
He cussed out the elves and threw down his list
Miserable little brats, ungrateful little jerks,
I have a good mind to scrap the whole works
I've busted my ass for damn near a year
Instead of "Thanks Santa" what do I hear?

The old lady bitches cause I work late at night
The elves want more money - the reindeer all fight
Rudolph got drunk and goosed all the maids
Donner is pregnant and Blitzen has AIDS

And just when I thought that things would get better
Those assholes from the Revenue sent me a letter
They say I owe taxes - if that ain't damn funny
Who the hell ever sent Santa Clause money?

And the kids these days - they all are the pits
They want the impossible ...Those mean little shits
I spent a whole year making wagons and sleds
Assembling dolls...Their arms, legs and heads
I made a ton of yo yo's - No request for them
They want computers and robots...Am I IBM?

Flying through the air...dodging the trees
Falling down chimneys and skinning my knees
I'm quitting this job...there's just no enjoyment
I'll sit on my fat ass and draw unemployment
There's no Christmas this year...now you know the reason
I found me a blonde.. I'm going SOUTH for the season!!

    Enjoy your day :D

      Good morning everyone,

I hope you all had a very good Christmas :).

Today is very unusual for me as it's the only day in my diary, for the last seven months, that has nothing in it :rolleyespink:. Although Mrs Shiney has some patients coming this morning and wants me to make lunch for one of them. She's a lady who is very seriously ill and travels a long way to get here.

I'm not sure what the weather is going to do today . It's dry and mild but dull and I can't tell whether the sun will come out. The forecast shows sunny until Friday.

I think I'll give gardening a miss today and go for a little walk

      Have a great day :D

Good morning Woo Shiney and everyone:)

Hope you both had a good Christmas day and that you both didn't work too hard and managed to relax a little bit:D

I'm still full of this rotten cold and it doesn't look like it will be going away any time soon:mad:

I cooked us a lovely Turkey roast dinner yesterday but forgot to do the sprouts :DOH:so intent was I to make sure we had our own homegrown carrots, peas, parsnips, new and roast spuds along with shop bought cauliflower that i clean forgot to do some sprouts that we got quiet cheap{£1 a bag} so we are having them for todays lunch with the Lamb joint I am cooking today plus we shall have some more of the Summer Berry Roulade with cream we had for afters:D

In the afternoon we drove to our local disused railway and had a good 2 1/2 mile walk although when we got back to the car later I felt a bit done in:rolleyespink:After a bite to eat we sat down to watch a few films but I ended up falling asleep so missed the best parts:D

We had an invite to go round to our neighbours today for lunch but as i and they are full of colds thought it best not to go and cough and sneeze over them and the 20 or so guests they have invited over for the day:oGod only knows where all these guests cars are going to park as our neighbours and our drive are already full of cars:D

Have a good day with the fence panels Woo and hope you enjoy your walk Shiney:)

      Good morning everyone,

      Woo, don't overdo things .

Kandy, I hope your cold gets better soon :thumb:. I walked into the village and I got quite hot as it is so mild with the sun was shining, and there was no wind. After half a mile I had taken my scarf off and undone my coat. On the walk back the wind got up quite strongly and was making it feel a bit chilly so back on with the scarf and I did my coat up - only to find I was getting too hot :heehee:

Moyra, I hope your washing gets dry :)

      Enjoy your Boxing Day :dbgrtmb:

      Good morning Shiney and everyone:)

Shiney I think I have some sort of double cold going on as I am still full of it and it has been two weeks now.Still plodding on though so that is one good thing:D

Glad you managed to get a walk in though.:thumbsup:We have been wrapping up when we go for our daily walks then find half way round that it is milder than we thought so I end up sweating buckets. It is usually quiet bitter with the wind when we go on our evening walks but thankfully don't have much breeze at the moment, just dampness in the air:D

I might venture outside in the back garden at some point today and get some clearing up done of falling leaves, although thye say to leave them I have found tiny black slugs love living under them:mad:

Also have two Unguicularis with a flower on each clump which isn't a lot but better than nothing so rushed out with my camera before the slugs get them:DHave had some in flower on the lottie since October so they must be self set seedlings:happydance:Are yours flowering yet Shiney?:)

Hope everyone else is ok out there and that you all have a good day:)

      Good morning Kandy and everyone,

Yes, Kandy, my Unguicularis are flowering. We didn't get around to taking off all last year's dead leaves from them so it looks a matted mess at the base :(

We always clear the leaves off the flower beds otherwise we get incaded with slugs. Some of the beds still need doing but the snowdrops are already coming through so we'll have to be very careful.

When I went on my walk to the village I saw that the farmer had been clearing all the plants, shrubs and trees that had been growing in the ditch. He's neglected to do it for at least ten years. As we are still in drought conditions here (sort of) he obviously took advantage of being able to get down into the ditch as well as using some of his heavy machinery. There's not a drop of water in the ditch and usually, by this time of year, it's a couple of feet deep.

We're out for lunch today (Indian restaurant in the village) as my sister is taking the close family out to celebrate her 70th birthday. There will be a big party for friends and family at the end of January. This will be in the village hall as there will be about 100 of us.

I wish all of you good health :dbgrtmb: - and, Kandy, don't be greedy with that cold and just get rid of it. :heehee:

      Have a great day :D

      Hello Everybody,

Kandy, I am sorry that you are hanging on to that cold although I suspect as you say you have caught another on top of the first one.
I am afraid apart from walking Amber three times a day and that bit of washing I have done very little else. Shame on me.

WOO you take it easy with those panels and Kandy and Shiney don't go over doing things in the garden.

New Year next then it will be down hill all the way into Spring Yippee!!:sunny:
