    Good morning everyone,

Yesterday was a busy day. It was one of Mrs Shiney's college days and finished with the graduation ceremony. They were doing 'engineering work' on our rail line so I took Mrs Shiney to college as it would have added an hour to the usual 90 minute journey - not very good when you have a day of studying at college to do.

The college is in Regent's Park and I had a quick look round whilst there. The central quadrangle is a well kept garden and it had tulips in bloom already.

The drive to London early on a Sunday morning is a pleasure, with no traffic on the road, and Mrs Shiney was able to sleep most of the way :dbgrtmb:. On the way back I did some shopping at a nice deli and still got home mid-morning. This gave me enough time to do a few things before going off to a bridge tournament where I played all afternoon and evening and have now qualified for the semi-final :yess:.

Loli, employers, according to most Contracts of Employment, are entitled to changed your hours as long as they give enough notice but changes must be reasonable and changes to conditions of work should be discussed and also reasonable. I would still have a chat with ACAS if I were you. :dbgrtmb:

In the last ten years, conditions for running care homes have been changed and have increased costs and made things much more difficult for the owners. Hence the big increases in resident fees and the effort to reduce expenses. This doesn't excuse treating your staff badly!

Some years ago I wrote a paper to the Inspectorate about some of the ridiculous rules that were being imposed. One of them was that at least 50% of care workers must have at least NVQ Level 2. In itself it sounds quite reasonable as Level 2 is not difficult but older care workers who were excellent at their jobs didn't have the new qualifications. Having interviewed some of the homes owners and workers it was pretty obvious that the older workers didn't want to do all the extra academic work necessary to get a piece of paper saying they could do the basics of the jobs that they had been doing successfully for many years. This resulted in the rules being relaxed and allowing much more tiem for the homes to comply. In the meantime I showed some of the local homes how they could get Level 2 for their carers with a minimum of effort :D.

Today seems like it's going to be a nice one. Just a little breeze, quite mild for the time of year but I don't know whether the sun is going to come and visit. We still have a drought and things may get a bit desparate if we don't have a significant amount soon.

    Have a great day :D

    Good Morning all,
I've got couple of days off :yess:.
That walk of yours Kandy sounded a real treat especially in this lovely weather...
Shiney i think i'm maybe just getting grumpy in my old age as things do grate on me these days.Imo some employers don't seem unduly conserned about how things are put into pratice just so long as it documented:what: i understand that for legal reasons it's the way of the world these days but i'd rather care for these people than write about it.I've done all my NVQ's as have others but to many it's just a job! It goes deeper than that for me.It's very frustrating when you are trying to make a difference but can't.....
Well that's my moans out of the way:WINK1:

    Have a lovely day everyone,keep safe:dbgrtmb:

try Quantum K healing .... lots of debate about this, and mostly positive results (there is a thread on a forum with 26 pages of comments so far and the majority say its works)....

I watched the video earlier today, but still feel exactly the same .... the video takes a minute or two to load

Thank you dim I will have another look at that when I have the time to absorb it all. I do believe in self healing and sending healing to others in need.

I wish I could have been around to help my son's friend yesterday. He hanged himself in his garage. He was such a jovial fellow always got a laugh and a smile and yet it was obviously hiding a lot of anxiety and pain. Steve was with him at a party Saturday night until 1 in the morning and he said he seemed fine then was talking about fishing next weekend so what could happen overnight to bring such an end to his life? He leaves behind a wife, 2 adult children and 2 very young grandchildren. He was just 46 years old. He was a good mate. Steve will miss him, their fishing trips together and their firm friendship.:(

Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

    Hi Moyra,

    So sorry to hear about what has happened to Steves friend especially as the friend had family that he has left behind.:(Sometimes things happen that is beyond anyones control and those left behind are left wondering what caused the situation to happen and there is always the question asked afterwards 'If only I had known,i could have perhaps talked him out of it' I myself think that when someone gets to the stage where they feel that there is no other way out than taking their own life then they will find someway of going through with it.I have been through the pain myself as I had a younger brother of 23 who went the same way as Steves friend {except he did it from the railway bridge where we used to play as kids}

Steve and the family will spend years asking themselves why he did it and it will be harder for his children to take it in and there will always be the reminder of it as each New Year approaches.

I heard on the radio the other week that young men are more likely to do these things than women because us women tend to talk over our problems with each other, whereas men tend to bottle up their feelings and this is when they are likely to do such things.

My thoughts and prayers go to the family and your Steve at this most dreadful time:(

Thanks Kandy and Loli. All his friends met together last night to support each other which I thought was a sign of how much they all loved the guy he was the cohesion that pulled them all together as mates. He will be sadly missed.

I hope everyone has a lovely day take care everyone. God Bless.:)

    Good morning everyone,

Moyra, so sorry to hear the bad news. Our condolences go to the family and friends.

Re Quantum Healing:- that is one of the many disciplines that Mrs Shiney is qualified in. There are a number of others that are similar. Some of her patients find it quite effective.

    It's quite mild today

    Have a great day :D

      Good morning Moyra,Shiney and everyone,

Lovely sunrise Shiney although they said Red sky in the morning means bad weather is on it's way:D

Moyra, hope you are ok and that the visit to the vets with Amber goes off ok:thumbsup:

I managed to get over to the lottie twice this week and have got some rotted leaves and compost spread on the ground where i dug up the carrots on Monday so hopefully the worms will do their work and get the stuff pulled down into the ground.A -4c frost is forecast for later on this week the first heavy one of the year but still no snow.Oh and I have a broom in fiull flower over at the allotment plus primroses in flower over there so they were a joy to look at as spring is sure to be just around the corner, well after the winter that is:D

      Have a good day:)
