      Good morning everyone,

Mrs Shiney is probably not a happy bunny at the moment. I took her to the station for her train to London for her course and she was told that she has to take a train north (away from London) to catch another train back to London . As it's -12C she won't enjoy standing on the platform waiting about.

Since then I've been out to the glazier to pick up some glass for her for her glass making and popped into the village shop for a paper and some lovely hot rolls. On the way back I saw a very unusual sight. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me.

The large field between us and the village is a vast expanse of frozen snow and, as the sun is now shining brightly, I could see a thin layer of ice on top of the snow. presumably from where the snow started to melt yesterday and then froze solid.

As I was watching, the comparative warmth of the sun hitting the frozen layer of ice and rebounding from the reflectivness of the snow was causing the ice to suddenly sublimate and a cloud of mist rose from the ice with a rippling rainbow effect coming off it. This only lasted for about a minute or two. I don't think my camera would have been able to catch the effect.

I think I shall stay indoors all day and do some lazing around, a bit of paperwork and cook a nice curry with some lovely shin of beef I've bought. I haven't yet decided which spices I'll use some I may get a load of them out of the cupboard, put them on the worktop, close my eyes and pick some at random. That'll be the base for whatever I decide :dbgrtmb:

Have a great day and keep warm :D

      Good morning Woo and everyone,

The temperature has been rising all night and is a lovely warm -3 at the moment and they're forecasting rain.

The curry turned out really good and ther's enough left for another meal.

Last night Mrs Shiney and I had a good laugh at Sarafi. We have a conifer tree about 2' from the lounge window that has no lower branches for the first 6'. Sarafi was 5' up the tree hugging the trunk and looking in the window. He looked really funny with all four legs wrapped tightly around the tree with his back to us and his head turned right round, looking in the window :heehee:

We may try and get a little walk in before the rain starts but we'll have to find somewhere that hasn't got snow and ice on the ground.

      Have a great day :D

Morning Everyone. Another thin layering of snow this morning frozen solid! :help:

I hope everyone is managing to keep warm.

Shiney, I think Sarafi must know you are missing Oscar and wonders if you want her company. We have a big white persian that creeps in through Amber's dog flap and sleeps on a dining room chair but if we get up in the night to visit the loo you see this white flying carpet disappear through the dog flap. I did manage to pick her up in the garden one day and stroke her but she tends to up and run whenever she sees anyone these days, most anti social cat. :(

I wish we could be like bears and hibernate for the winter and come out when all the snow and ice has gone.:yess:

      Have a good day everyone.:)

Good morning everyone and hope you all had a good weekend:)

We still have some lying snow and had rain last evening for a little while but the roads outside look like they are still a bit white.Just hope they are good to drive on:D

Mr Kandy downloaded nearly 700 photos off of my memory card yesterday and it is nice looking through what I had forgotten i had taken a photo of:DWe must pop over to our Reservoir to see if the water levels have gone back up as it was strange looking at photos of us walking on land that should be under water:cool:

Had our ovewintering female Blackcap in the garden again yesterday morning so got some better photos of it and we also had a nice Fieldfare in the garden for most of the day feeding on the dodgy apples i put out for it.It didn't like the blackbirds vising the garden though and soon chased them off:DI think it has staked out my garden as it's feeding station until it goes back to Russia/Scandanavia where it usually lives and breeds:)

      I heard from one of my sisters yesterday that I am a Great Aunt again as my niece has just had her second son and has called him Harvey Jake{not too sure about whether i like the names though:D}

Hope you all have a good day and stay warm:)

      Good morning everyone,

The promised rain didn't arrive yesterday and although it's +1C out there I can see a sheet of ice on the car windows.

Moyra, I'm not sure about Sarafi. First of all, I'm not sure what sex he/she is and secondly 'he' allows us to stroke him but is definitely not a hugging cat. He doesn't fight if we try to pick him up but certainly lets us know he doesn't approve. He now comes to the greenhouse every day and sits on the top shelf for most of the morning. It's quite interesting watching him when he gets on the top shelf. He takes quite a long time settling down, turn round and round a number of times, whereas Oscar used to jump up there and settle down immediately.

The pheasants don't trust him at all and he seems to take an unhealthy interest in them. When he's near the lawn they have at least two of them on guard, standing tall and fluffed up. Oscar was their friend and we've seen him sitting about 6" from their water bowl whilst they've been drinking from it.

Unusually, today I have nothing in my diary so I'll start doing some research on quotes for insurance. Our household insurance and cars are all due for renewal next month. I do them all together because I can negotiate for a better price that way. With shopping around I've managed to get it lower than the renewal quote each year for the last five years :dbgrtmb:. It'll take me half a day to do the phoning - unless I get a good offer.

Kandy, unless you've had a lot of rain I can't see the water level of the reservoir going up. The snow wouldn't have made much difference to it.

      Have a great day :D

          Good Morning Everyone,

Congratulations Kandy and Woo for the new additions to the family.

Hm Shiney, Oscar was one in a million when it came to respecting other wild life. I cannot see Sarafi leaving them alone. The birds in my garden generally ignore Amber as she watches them. Bought my blue tits a new fancy house for peanuts. The sparrows are treating it with distrust but the blue tits love it.

Have a lovely day everyone. :)

Woo,Congratulations on the news that you are going to be a Grand da twice this year and it will be nice that the children will be growing up together:thumbsup:

Shiney I am in the process of sorting through my photos and getting them onto PB so will put a couple on here to show you how low the levels are.I can see us being on a hosepipe ban this year at this rate:nono:
Hope that Moyra,Penny,Jazmine and Loli are all ok as well:)

It is quiet mild out at the moment but we still have a little snow on the drive and the lawns but I think it will all be gone within the next couple of days:(
