Aw..bless. We had that one day, we were sat in the sitting room engrossed in watching a film, then we heard a big bang, and a pigeon had hit the sitting room front window, we saw a big dust mark where he hit, we went outside, but could not find it. Last week we had a pigeon sitting on our lawn, and it was not moving, so we left it a while, and then noticed it had a bent wing when it flapped, left it a bit more, but it was gone, when we came back again. I think animals are quite resilient.:doggieshmooze:

      Good evening everyone,

Been to the vets with the moggies and it looks like Willow has picked up a bug from the cattery so the vet hasn't given him anything and to let his resistance fight it but didn't do the vaccination as she wants to do it when he is feeling better:biggrin:

When the young vet {newly qualified}examined Poppy she found her heart was racing and also has a large nodule on one side of the thyroid and a smaller nodule on the other side:eeew: She took Poppy into another room where with the help of another vet{we think}blood was taken from the neck{didn't know that was where it is taken from these days:eeew: }and will be sent off to the lab so we should know the early part of next week whether she definetley has an overactive thyroid and will be on little pink pills for the rest of her life.:cat-kittyandsmiley: At least it will sort out the weight issue and it isn't something sinister we thought she might have:mute:

      Have a good evening everyone:smile:

Thanks Lili and Loli for your kind words:smile: Ours are the same Loli, and you wouldn't know the effort we have in getting the little darlings in to their carrying boxes and off to the vets etc. They are the masters of hiding themselves especially when one calls to the other one to let it know what is going on so that it can go into hiding:yikes: we spent three hours one winters day tearing the house apart trying to find Poppy, only to find her underneath the throw right in the spot where i had laid our fleece coats so didn't know she was there until we lifted up the settee and she practically fell out:snork: We can laugh at it now but at the time we needed to get her off to the cattery, and because we were so late getting away to Derbyshire we were putting up the awning by torch light:nonofinger: We solved the problem by getting them off to the cattery a day earlier which means a days extra board cost but at least we can pack up stress free:snork:

            Aloha everyone!

Lovely morning out there this morning. Amber had great fun with Tinks yesterday and although I say it myself the dinner was scrummy, it all went no left overs so that says it all.

Kandy, glad you got the cats sorted out hopefully they will be well on the road to recovery pretty soon. We would have little to worry about if it were not for our lovely furry companions. Wouldn't be without them for the world though.

Shiney and Loli hope you are feeling better today.

Have a good day everyone and look after yourselves and our furry friends.

            Aloha!:wub2:

            Aloha everyone,

Kandy, I hope the furries are feeling better. I'd be a bit concerned about them taking blood from the neck. Next time, ask them why it was from the neck and not the ear or one of the other usual places. We had this problem with Oscar and the other vets thought it may have put him into shock (because of his diabetes) and said that they don't so that now. Of course, it could be that they needed more blood than they could get from elsewhere.

Loli, I hope you're feeling a bit better. :dbgrtmb:

Moyra, it's good to hear that your dinner went well. Have a nice relaxing day in the sunshine and pamper yourself. :)

As it's such a nice day I think that all of the Wakey Wakey crowd should partake of the wonderful sunshine and imagine it's midsummer :heehee:

Yesterday about 10.30 I stood up and nearly collapsed with a horrible pain in my ankle and right up to my knee. I thought that a tendon had gone :hate-shocked:. Mrs Shiney did some work on me and although it was still very painful I could hobble about. After lunch I decided to hobble off to Sainsbury's (had a letter to post) and hobbled around there with a walking stick. The driving was alright as it was my left leg and my car is automatic. I found that whilst walking around it didn't hurt nearly as much if I just slid my foot along the floor instead of bending it to walk. In the evening I went to bridge, could just about walk without the stick by then, although it was quite painful just sitting. Suddenly, at 10.10 p.m., the pain vanished! :dbgrtmb:. It's been fine ever since.

Today, I'll wait for the sun to dry out the front lawns and then get them mowed. I'll then trim all the edges of the whole garden. That should have the place looking good for when our friends come for dinner tomorrow.

I managed to get a lovely piece of rib of beef that was reduced from £11.99 kg to £6 kg  - and it's from the best end of the rib . Whilst I've been sitting here I've just planned my menu for the day.

When they arrive we'll have home made guacamole with sticks of carrot and celery, to go with their drinks.

Then, cream of butternut squash and courgette soup (from the garden).
Roast beef, loads of crispy roasties, fresh runnerbeans, stir fried broccoli, asparagus and baby corn, Yorkshire pud, home made horseradish sauce (I'll go up the road and dig some up as we've now had some rain), but I'm going to cheat and make the gravy from a packet - plus the juices from the meat.
Blackberry (just picked from the garden) and blackcurrant (in freezer) mousse, apple crumble (apples just picked) and fresh fruit salad (melon, strawbs and mango).
For later in the evening people can have a spag bol (that I'm going to make soon) or sandwiches. Take a bet they'll all have spag bol :heehee:

Keep well and have a great day

            Aloha!

I'll be giving orders to Mr L today:old:...fill the bird feeders and bird baths...move some pots into the GH,I'll check what needs watering(he's not a gardener so i don't trust him:th scifD36:) Pick some Beans and Toms....vaccum throughout the house...erm...i'm sure the's plenty more to do:biggrin:...probably give him a lecture on 'why can't you cook like Shiney':heehee:
