    Morning to everyone
It's a boring housework day, the music is up and I am trying to keep at it, I get bored so quickly!
My son has a small pear tree, he doesn't look after it but it is laden with lovely big pears this year. I hardly got a single apple from our apple tree this year though.
    Love the owls!
Have a lovely day whatever you are all doing.

      Good evening everyone,

Just a quick update on Poppy the furry pet who is a bit below par at the moment :ktykss:

The vet rang this evening with the results of the bloods they took from Poppy and she definetley has Hyperthyroidsm. The vet has given us three options of what can be done for her...:ktykss:

Option 1, Tablets{1 a day for life at a cost at the moment of £30 per month}She will also have to have regular blood checks done every six months to monitor the thyroid to see how it copes with the drugs.:ktykss:

Option 2,Is Radiocative Iodine treatment and will cost a minimum of £1,000:yikes: and she will be away from us for three weeks:yikes:No more tablets though as it is cured this way:ktykss:

Option 3, Bilateral surgery to remove the Thyroid gland but the vets have to be carefull that the Paragland isn't damaged but she says that is a very rare thing to happen.Anyway,if the op goes ok then Poppy should be cured and can lead a normal life again:yes:The surgery is going to be around £350 plus the costs of the anesthetic etc

The only other option is to do nothing at all which will mean eventually the body will waste away and the heart and renal functions will be compromised and that will be the end of our little Pops :eeew:

Anyway,we have been to pick up the meds and she has had the first one which i hid in her food and which has gone down quiet well:ktykss: We have a month of tablets by which time she should be on the mend but because of the size of the nodules on the glands they are not going to get better on their own.We are going to go down the surgery route which should happen sometime in November after more bloods have been taken to see how things are going so with luck by crimbo she should be well on the way to recovery:yes: :ktykss:

Sorry for the long post and the details but at least it will give other cat owners an idea of what health problems cats can suffer from and just how much it can cost to return them to some sort of good health:ktykss:

      Aloha everyone,

Not a bad morning this morning. Feeling a bit lost without my car outside the door. It wouldn't start yesterday. Trouble is I do not use it frequently enough. Anyway the garage chap came out got it going, think it was just dampness and then we took it back to his garage for the night and they were going to do a good service on it so hopefully she will come back this morning feeling all nice and happy about herself.

Loli, I do hope your ribs are a little easier for you this morning and Shiney I hope you too are feeling better.

Kandy, what can we say about your little Poppy! I hope she responds well to the tablets and the operation and as predicted she will be fully recovered in time for Christmas.

I hope everyone else is ok, waves to WOO, Penny, Kaz, Lili and Mum. Have a great day everyone and please look after yourselves.

      Aloha !:wub2:

      Good morning everyone,
I hope everyone is on form today:dbgrtmb:
I hadn't been out in my car for a week Moyra but went to the doctors yesterday...when i started it it sounded a bit unwell but i think it was the battery and was fine once i got going:dbgrtmb:
It was a new Doctor at the surgery and one i shall avoid in future...i almost had to grovell for a weeks sick note:huh:....i wasn't a happy bunny:frown: in 32 years of my working life i have only had 2 sick notes...one for a gall bladder operation and one for ligament damage to my foot....you'd have thought i was asking for a blank cheque....it took me all my time to drive there as i was afraid of making my cause worse....but today ...i can feel an improvement and can cautiously move around a bit better....it's suprising what you can do when your heckles are up:biggrin:.....
I hope you are feeling better Shiney:dbgrtmb:
It's a lovely and sunny morning here and forecast to stay that way.....

Have a great day everyone and take care:SUNsmile:

      Aloha all,

Bit dull and overcast, but at least it's dry. Been out, got all my shopping done. Planning to go out to another town on Weds, bit of a morning away, visit their market, they have a famous coffee shop, never been in it before, so will let you know what it's like. Settling down to have a sandwich, and forty winks, with my heat pad on my back, and my fleecy blanket up under my chins!! Have a great all.:doggieshmooze:

Didn't get my car back this morning he said it was still not running right after new plugs etc then he discovered the breather tubes were all melted and needed replacement and he mentioned the brake pipes which he had recommended on my last MOT that the should be replaced before the next MOT is due so of course I said I had better have them done while he has the car there. I am not sure I can justify paying out all this money on a car that is so old really and that I use once in a blue moon. It is going to end up costing me about £330 all told.

Sorry you got a rotten doctor Loli. I think they are all getting a bit nasty when it comes to sick notes now. But you definitely sound as though you need some time to get right. Take care of yourself. Shiney hope you will all be set up when you get your stockings. I cannot seem to get on with them for some reason or other. Never mind.

Have a good afternoon everyone, hope little poppy is doing ok.:cat-kittyandsmiley:

Hello friends, just popping in as I just got home from a hard day shopping :snork:
I hope you get your Poppy well again Kandy. I think I would opt for the surgery route too.
Shiney I have to wear stockings too, mine are hold ups, what are yours like? I don't like them much but have no choice as I would end up with big swollen legs if I didn't wear them. One is big anyway!!

Evening everyone, just settled down in front of my computer.

Been on the go since 3.30, got my ironing done, marked out circles on fabric(for my jam covers) so that hubby can cut them out, and keep him awake. Made a batch of pumpkin chutney, labelled and topped up.

Got a bit of reading to catch up on, couple of gardening mags, free newspaper, Waitrose mag, and my allotment book.

Got my feet raised in my reclining chair, ankles a bit swollen, though they are swollen everyday. I keep taking the diuretics, have done for years, since being diagnosed with an underactive thyroid, everything has been on a go slow.

Anyway, have a good evening everyone.:doggieshmooze:

Jazmine, mine are the very, very tight compression stockings that come up to the knee. They are difficult to get on and extremely difficult to take off. I can't wear them when I have my feet up in the evenings as they create too much pressure on the feet and cause cramp - but they work very well when I'm sitting up or walking. They prevent the bad swelling and combat the poor circulation. I've had to wear them for the last 20 years, since my bad DVT (following an operation).

I used to have to buy them from the manufacturers as I couldn't get them on prescription. although I could get them free from the vascular dept at the hospital if I wanted to wait months for an appointment. I'm now able to get them from my GP and our surgery in the village has their own dispensary. So it's quite easy now.
