I hope everyone is in fine fettle:dbgrtmb:

Woo....mind the sun on that beak of yours:biggrin:

Shiney ,hope you get the power company sorted out without too much aggrevation:dbgrtmb:

I logged on earlier but then looked out and noticed Mr Blackbird had broke through my Gooseberry defences and was chomping away on his breakfast......so i went out and picked what was left before they all vanished.....

Plenty of jobs to do in the garden today....need to do some tying up of plants as theres been quite a wind blowing overnight ,but the sun is out again now and it's lovely out there:blue thumb:

Waves to all, have a great day and take care:SUNsmile:

    Aloha everyone,

WOO you must wear a beak shade if you go out in it today. Yesterday was hotter than it appeared at first but then became very muggy.

Shiney, Good luck with your power company. Hope you get someone who speaks English.

Loli, glad you managed to salvage some gooseberries before Mr Blackbird had them all.

Kandy, yesterday's post was all about your lovely crops on the lotti, cannot remember it all but I recall you saying the raspberries were easy to pick and eat as you go. Oh yes you also mentioned your broad beans and runner beans and that you were going to have some runner beans with your roast yesterday. I hope they were nice.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe in the sun, God bless.

    Aloha!:wub2:

Loli, I never have aggravation, but the people at the other end do! :heehee:

Moyra, they spoke English but I had trouble understanding them as they were Scottish :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

      Good morning everyone,

I see we still have the time lag on the words I type so must be a quirk with this forum and also yesterday I had problems getting on to the site.

The weather has turned cooler here but at least the sun is shining today.:biggrin:Have caught up with what I was doing although yesterday we had some thunder and heavy showers so never made it to the lottie but will have to go soon as we have more fruit to pick:snork:

Looks like this years pear crop is going to be one of the best yet so had better make sure they are stored properly to keep them going once we pick them:biggrin:

The fresh runner beans went down nicely along with homegrown broad beans, carrots and peas and our own new potatoes so all in all the hard work is starting to pay off:biggrin:

      Have a good day everyone:SUNsmile:

      Aloha everyone,

I got a lot done in the garden yesterday so shall take it easy today.

The runnerbeans have really started to move now but are not happy with the heat (they come from the cooler mountain air of central Mexico). Hot weather is not their natural environment. Extreme heat makes them produce fatter beans inside the pods so they look a bit lumpy.

I agree with you, Kandy, the pears are looking fantastic at the moment.

I wasn't able to resolve anything with the power company as their computers were down and they couldn't get into anyone's accounts!

      Have a great day

      Aloha!

For some reason my internet keeps stopping so I am going to do a posting on a separate sheet and then transfer it onto here. I'll be back.

        Aloha Everyone,

Well I don't know what the problem is with my internet this morning but three times I tried to post this message and it stopped in the middle of it and I had to start again as I couldn't save it. I was pleased to find that I could get into GC without any trouble this morning. Don't know what is causing my internet to keep crashing. I hope everyone else has managed to get here ok.
Well have a good day everyone. God bless.
        Aloha!:wub2:

        Afternoon all,

The weather does not know what to do today, heavy showers this morning, lovely sunshine an hour ago, just had a deluge, sun back out.

Ran out to pick some lovely french beans ' Fasold' first time I have grown them, and shall definately have them on my shopping list for next year, they are delicious.Picked last of broad beans, and gathered some Savoy leaves, OH wants Bubble and Squeak this evening, so just a light steam, and they will be good to go.

Everything is looking so fresh, even the grass seems to have picked up a better hue.

Apples and pears will be a bumper crop this year, cannot wait to make some new season apple crumble ice cream.

Not doing much else, back still store from the weekend, tingly pains down my left leg,so trying to rest up as much as possible to have some energy when the garden needs some work.:doggieshmooze:

        Good morning everyone,

I got headbutted again this morning so decided to get up and get started on the day:snork:

The weather was good yesterday for most of the day, then as we were just starting our walk we had rain so decided to give up so headed back home.No point in getting wet for nothing:biggrin:

Hoping to get to the lottie today to see what needs picking and will do some weeding. At least with the dry year we havn't had as much of a problem with the weeds like we normally do if we have more rain.Evidently iy is going to be even hotter tomorrow.

Mr Kandys cousin is up in the Lakes on a NT visiting holiday and had solid rain for 12 hours sunday/monday but she says it does make the waterfalls look good:cool:

Have a good day everyone in all that you do:spinning:

        Aloha Kandy and everyone,

We had rain, on and off, for most of the day and it cleared up about 4.30. Our weeds are growing like mad and so are the plants and shrubs that need cutting back. Loads of stuff going on the bonfire and in the wheelie bins - filled three of them with everything being squashed down as much as possible.

Courgettes are growing like mad and the beans are beginning to streak away. :blue thumb:

At 8 a.m. yesterday a muscle went in the side of my leg (hope it was a muscle) about 4 inches above the ankle. It hurt to put weight on it and especially to walk. The pain (extremely painful) ran from the foot almost up to the knee along the outside of the leg. By the time I went to the bridge club after lunch I was having to use a stick to walk. At exactly 11 minutes past five the pain stopped suddenly! For a while I was still walking carefully because my leg (and my brain) were still remembering the pain. It has been OK ever since. :)

I've been working in the wild area of the veg patch and clearing a load of weeds. This has given Mrs Shiney room to plant some of the flowering plants that have been in pots. So far I've cleared a patch about 30ft x 3ft and Mrs S has put in some wild flower types and some dahlias. The dahlias were the left-overs from what someone gave us to sell for the charity. We sold about seventy at a pound each :dbgrtmb:

We're doing all the gardening ourselves nowadays as all the gardeners we've tried have not been worth it. Tracy used to come in for six hours very two weeks and got through a lot of the bending and heavy work. The people we've tried since then have either been useless (didn't know a weed from a plant), didn't do things properly or were much too slow. We can't afford to pay someone for doing things that I can do twice as fast and Mrs S can do four times as fast!

I want to get quite a lot done today as it's going to be too hot to work out there from tomorrow.

Keep well and have a great day

        Aloha!

        Morning all,

I feel a bit like the walking dead this morning, restless night, back still aching, swollen hand (going to see doctor on Saturday).

Very miserable looking outside, forecast of heavy rain this morning.

Already done some work this morning- repaired my M&S shopping bag( got torn some time ago),so I did a bit of zigzaging to strengthen the tear. Also a skirt with a seam that came undone, got that repaired, that will keep that going for a while more.

Breakfast eaten, ready to go out at 8a.m.

Hope you all have a good day.:doggieshmooze:
