I may have some photos from back then but I don't think any would be in Vicky Park.

I remember, after the war, they used to hold regular fun fairs in the park and they were always crowded. The fun fair used to run from St Mark's Gate entrance down towards the Hackney Wick entrance. :blue thumb:

          Aloha everyone,

I manged to get some work done in the garden yesterday afternoon until the heavens opened. We certainly had some very heavy downpours :hate-shocked: but no thunderstorms.

This morning the patio is already dry and the sun is shining brightly :blue thumb:. Our pheasants have gone on their annual holiday. They always seem to disappear for up to a month around this time of year. The rest of the year they're in our garden every day (sometimes, all day).

Mrs Shiney hopes to make up a list of plants we can take to the GC Meet on Sunday and I'll put them up on that thread.

          Have a great day

          Aloha!

Good morning Woo, Shiney and everyone,

All this talk of everyones past is a coincidense as I have just joined a group about the past of the town where I was born and it is great to see photos of the place where i was born and grew up and have even seen a photo with me and one of my sisters and street friends on it.Perhaps we should get royalties for the fact that it was put in a book and no doubt lots of copies got sold:snork:

We had some torrential rain, thunder and lightning yesterday afternoon round teatime and my neighbours garage guttering was like a waterfall which I got on film:biggrin:

Today the sun is shining so will heading for the lottie to pick some more beans although after the hot weather of last week they look like they were slowing a bit so this rain should have helped them.:snork:

          Enjoy your day everyone:SUNsmile:

              Good morning everyone,

Shiney your pheasants have got the right idea....it's a good time for them to go on their hoildays they've maybe met up with some of their Grouse cousins and keeping their heads down seen as we're not far from the 'glorious twelfth';)....

We could do with a reminiscence thread.....i'd love to hear stories of days gone by ,that's right up my street:dancy:...

Feels much fresher out there this morning but lovely blue skies...
I was up earlier....4.20am as there was a racket coming from 'Cluckingham Palace'....raced out side but turns out it was only an early egg delivery:phew:

Plenty of pottering to do today...first job....pick some Beans:blue thumb:

Have a great day everyone and take care:SUNsmile:

                Morning all,

Sorry did not log in yesterday, been off work for 2 days, bones and muscles ache like hell, feeling tired and washed out, so doctor arranged for blood tests that I got done at our local community hospital.

Should be doing such a lot in the house, but do not have much inclination- so have to pace myself.

Sun shining and big white fluffy clouds, not much wind- gardener just arrived, he has cut our hedge, and is just started strimming around the edges of the lawn, there is not much grass to cut, but there are a few leaves that are scattered on the lawn.

So, just sitting back with my Cappuccino, and will make lunch for later.

                Have a good day everyone:doggieshmooze:
