Yesterday's bright sunshine (don't ask about the afternoon weather ) has returned this morning

Loli, the dogs will soon keep away from the pheasants if they react the usual way - loud squawks and flying directly towards them .

I've been asked to show my face at a networking meeting at lunchtime. I don't usually go to these sort of things but they want me there! The main topic is about the possible expansion plans of a town near me. Although everyone there will be in favour of it I think they want me there because I always ask the awkward questions

I've got to go into the town anyway as I'm sorting out some things for one of the people I look after. It's all about these stupid new medical interviews for benefits. The poor sod is almost totally immobile but he filled in part of a form incorrectly and they've said he's capable of work so may lose his benefit. They only need to look at his medical records properly! The records say that he may be able to work if he has stem cell treatment - but the treatment is not available. They, of course, have just extracted the words 'may be able to work' . They're not going to like what I'm going to say about their systems and the people who do the assessments!

Tomorrow I have more meetings but also have to sort out some stuff for someone else I look after. I don't know what it's about yet but I'm bound to have fun dealing with it.

I've been dealing with bureaucratic incompetence for over 40 years. I have very little problem with local authorities nowadays as just mentioning my name usually sorts things out . They know that I never fight anything that isn't correct.

National organisations are still learning

I still do a lot of consumer work as well and the local courts enjoy my little fights

 

Sorry,I honestly haven't the faintest idea.

I started off, 50 years ago, by just helping some of my customers with problems they didn't know how to handle. Most of them were very easy to sort out. I then volunteered to help our local Consumer Office, that was run by the Council, with advice on my work. I then got more interested in studying some laws after watching a BBC TV sitcom series called "A P Herbert's Misleading Cases" (1967 - 1971).

I then started fighting cases for my staff (typically, holiday problems etc), customers and friends. Most of them were simple misunderstandings or companies just trying to get away with what they could and were easily sorted out (I made phone calls, put on a posh voice and used long words ). About twice a year I ended up in court for them. I've had about 30 court cases and not lost one yet .

I suppose you could contact your local Citizen's Advice Bureau to volunteer. You won't get paid but you may get some free training. From there you may get ideas of where you could do it as a job.

With me, being non-professional I don't have to stick to the rules that the legal profession have to and can say almost anything I like when handling a case. I never tell a lie when handling a case but I'm very good at giving the wrong impression!

Sun is trying to come out

Busy day today. Got a curry to cook this morning as well as needing to pick up some glass for Mrs Shiney that's being cut by the glass company. I'd also like to get a couple of lawns cut before lunch.

Then off to Barry to sort out some awkward documents that have arrive at his place. Then straight on to a meeting and won't be back until this evening.
