    Good morning everyone,

Lovely photos Penny and Congratulations to you and your family on the birth of your first Grandchild:smile:

Well I'm busy at the moment harvesting all the fruit and veggies that are ripening and preparing them for storage and freezing, plus getting the ground clear of weeds ready for muck spreading, although yesterday I had to give up after four hours at the lottie as my sciatica started to play up:hate-shocked:

Will have to get the wooly jumpers out soon as they reckon the weather is due to turn colder later on this week.Thats all I need for my aching bones:sad:

As the newspapers are saying we are going to have a winter of blackouts will have to sort out plenty of books to read by candle light as the internet will be down.At least we shall save on our leccy bills but it will mean the birthrate will go up like it did after the blackouts of the 70's.I remember them well:heehee:

    Have a good day everyone:smile:

      Aloha everyone,

Congratulations, Penny, he looks very alert :blue thumb:

I got a lot of gardening done yesterday :dancy: but haven't made a dent in what's necessary. Runnerbeans are still doing very well and I've got another 10lb for sale tomorrow.

EDIT: I typed the above early yesterday morning but we've been having a series of power cuts (practicing for the winter :heehee:). GC saved and stored what I was typing so it was still here on this thread when I just logged in. :blue thumb:

Kandy, they reckon there's enough reserves of electricity to get us through the winter but the reserves are only 50% of last year's. Reserves doesn't mean that they store the electricity. They pay an annual fee to private organisations to have diesel powered systems available and pay big companies to allow them to reduce the amount supplied to them curing an emergency. All these come on line automatically. They come under what is known as BMRS (Balancing Mechanism Reporting System), STOR (Short Term Operating Reserve) and a number of other acronyms. (Boring!!!!!)

Of course, none of this solves the problem when our local substation keeps playing up! Five power cuts in two days :mute: Our freezer is the thing that seems to be affected the most. The power was off for five hours and the temperature went from -20 to -10. It went back to -20 after an hour of power. I might be able to sort that out a bit as I'm having solar panels fitted. It will only solve the problem if the power cut is in the day time and I go round switching everything else off! As we use a lot of electricity, and our roof is in just the right position, we should get our money back in less than six years and then start making a reasonable profit. :hapydancsmil:

They last few days we have had the temperature in the 70's and the sun is shining again today.

Loli, I hope you're not coming down with something.

I've now got to get prodeuce sorted for sale - picking, weighing and bagging.

It's our friends 'first night' tonight. Mrs Shiney is going to see her on Wednesday but I'm busy every night night so won't get to the theatre.

      Have a great day.

      Aloha!

        Good morning everyone,
        Hope everyone is OK:dbgrtmb:

Kandy...you sound very busy:phew: take it easy and mind that back:dbgrtmb:...i used to love the 'black outs' as a kid it was so exciting...not sure i'd find them the same these days ...i'll let you know:biggrin:

Well the Sun has certainly been working overtime in this neck of the woods this year it's been really lovely:dancy:....it's yet another beauty this morning but feels a little fresher out there....

Thankfully i had a better night:blue thumb: but still don't feel quite on par...more like i've been run over by a bus....very achy but there's plenty to do to limber me up:blue thumb:

        Wishing everyone well:dbgrtmb:

Have a great day and take care:SUNsmile:

        Aloha everyone,
It cannot be the windows updates unless they have gone ahead and updated again without my consent as the darn thing crashed again. I am back on the note pad.
Kandy do be careful with that sciatica and so much to do on the lotti.
Shiney, I hope you too are not overdoing things.
Penny, hope little Daniel is being a good baby.
Everyone take care. Waves to Loli, Woo et al. Have a good day all.
        Aloha!

            Good morning everyone,:)

Its a cool morning here, don't think we got frost but it was close!! So today since I'm home I need to start pulling the plants, they are sure looking terrible now, so its time to pull them out, I'll save any tomatoes that haven't ripened yet, and the rest will be for seeds.

I'm off to start some laundry, and may try and pop in later......so enjoy your day everyone.:blue thumb:

Steve, I tried to download firefox but it just got in a right mess so I had to restore system back again to the 29th September which seems to have corrected it again for the time being.

I have just download AVG2014 Tune up and it found quite a few registry problems and other problems too that it has corrected so I am just hoping that it will have put this right too. Appears to be ok. So fingers crossed that has cured it.

Very strange, have always found it to instal no problem.

Lets see how you go, I have never trusted Tune Up software, preferring to get down and dirty with it myself. Best of wishes.

                  Aloha everyone,

It's eerily still out there. No sight or sound of birds, planes or cars and not a breath of a breeze. (I think I'll copy that onto the 'weather' page :))

Moyra, I'm taking things as easily as I ever do - which is, not! :heehee: I hope you're getting the computer sorted. :blue thumb:

Loli, I haven't asked how the first night went. She came home at 2 a.m. and rushed straight to the summerhouse where she is staying. That's handy for her because she can come and go as she pleases. Although, I've been feeding her for the last week. Food this week may be a different matter as she won't eat before a performance.
It sounds as though the dogs are enjoying themselves. :hapydancsmil:

Apart from doing some work in the garden I'm working hard on an annual bridge tournament that I run. It's this Sunday so I'm working hard (frantically :heehee:) at making everything run smoothly. I'm checking that everything is ready, sending emails to everyone reminding them of the jobs they have to do (and when they have to do them) and co-ordinating it all.

The trophies, properly engraved, will arrive at 9.30 this morning. I don't trust couriers or the mail so the lady that does a few hours cleaning for us is bringing them. She lives in the village where the engraver lives and goes to their house on the way here :blue thumb:. That just leaves three hours solid work for three of us on Friday afternoon and six of us going into the hall on Sunday morning to set it up. The tournament will run from 1.45 to 8.45 p.m. Then the hall has to be cleared up. The clearing is a lot easier as I get all the competitors to stack the tables and chairs whilst the results are being calculated (it's high tech nowadays with a computer linked, wirelessly, to electronic score pads on each table!).

I'm now cooking and providing frozen meals for three of Mrs Shiney's patients that are not really up to doing it themselves. One that I was providing for is now able to do their own :blue thumb:.

I sold another £25 of fruit and veg yesterday so the next donation to the charity is building up - I send them a cheque for £500 every so often.

                  Have a great day

                  Aloha!

                    Aloha everyone,
This is still playing up so may have to go back to the drawing board. It is getting me baffled again.
Shiney, well done on all your work for the Charity also for Mrs S's patients. You're a good man.
Loli, good on the dogs having a good run around before you go to work.
Steve is home he has a doctors appointment today to see what is going to be done about his back and I have an appointment with the nurse to have my flu jab done.
Have a good day everyone. God bless.

                    Aloha!

Good to see you WOO and that you are all ok. Take care my friend.

Done another system restore. lets hope it has put it back to where it was again. That takes the tune up off as well. Seems to be ok, but better not speak too soon. Have a good day all.
