    Good morning my GC friends.

Our 'adventure' to Lincoln on Saturday made for an interesting journey. We left home very early in the morning and there was no snow on the ground. The further north we travelled, the more snow we encountered. At one point it was quite surreal, because it was still dark, but snowing quite well, and it was like travelling through a tunnel of floating 'stars'. The HGV's were being a little naughty in their driving habits and at one point there was a group of them, travelling side by side, creating a "wall" of lorries which was totally impassable.

We arrived a few minutes early (thank goodness we gave ourselves plenty of time) and it continued to snow. Never been to Lincoln before and, despite the drab weather, the Cathedral still made a spectacular site on the hill.

We were split off for different "lectures": parents to the right, applicants to the left. As some of you know, I only graduated myself last July, so it was particularly interesting to me to hear about the campus, style of teaching and opportunities which were on offer. And, as my degree was in a similar discipline, I really understood what they were conveying (Mr Mum commented that he felt like a fish out of water :heehee: ).

The campus grounds didn't impress me much, although it is conveniently placed so everything is in walking distance of the town; but, I was impressed with their contact hours and their reasoning behind it. If I were choosing for myself, it would not be my firm choice (but then, I'm biased) but son was very impressed and said it "felt" right. That's the most important thing

We didn't hang around longer than necessary and the journey back was as interesting as the journey there. Once again, it felt like we were chasing the snow and in a couple of places it was falling quite thickly. The roads had been salted and that made a huge difference, but visability at times was the main issue.

If son does go to Lincoln, I'll be happy to pop up on the occasional weekend because it is a lovely place to visit (and, I'm sure food parcels will be necessary appreciated).

Warm get well wishes to any and all who are under par :grphg:

    Miles of smiles xMx

      Aloha everyone,

Yesterday was cold but, with no wind, it didn't feel too bad. The wind has picked up a bit today but the snow seems to be thinning.

The bridge went quite well. It was played at many venues throughout the country and we came third at our venue and 38th in the country. Not too bad but not good enough. :) There were over 1,500 people competing!

This morning we have to go and visit a house up the road where Monty lives. We shall be looking after him over Easter. We don't yet know what our job as Monty's staff will be. :heehee:

Keep warm and have a great day

      Aloha!

          Aloha everyone,

Shiney you did well. Hope you enjoy looking after Monty.

WOO hope you are on the mend but no trying to fly to early. Just take your time.

Loli, rather you than me in the GH my is so small and without heat so not a lot I can do and the shed with the glass front is just keeping some tender plants going with a bit of heat. Bet that is costing a fortune with the weather as it is.

Am having to defrost my main freezer as the ice is pushing the door open, that wont do. Fortunately everything has been bagged up in those insulated food bags and put outside in the snow to keep frozen. But there is so much ice on the freezer it is going to take a while for me to clear. My other little freezer is lovely it it does it all by itself.

Well take care everyone and do stay safe and warm and if you do have to go out wrap up warm.

          Aloha!:wub2:

          Good morning everyone,

Been a bit snowed {scuse pun:biggrin: }under at the moment but we are keeping warm which is the main thing and will have to worry about the fuel prices when the bills come in,as i am not going to sit shivering in a freezing cold house:snork:

Hope everyone that is feeling under the weather{snow/rain etc:biggrin: }start to feel better soon:grphg:

Popped to see one of Mr Kandy's relatives yesterday who wasn't feeling too good with his Diabetes and he has to go to hospital this thursday for the first of his Avastin injections which is hopefully going to stop him going blind. He is going to have to pay for the injections as the NHS waiting time is quiet long and then after the injections have finished he then has to have his cataracts sorted out.The Avastin is a cancer treatment drug but has been found to be good for use on people with Diabetic Retinopathy.Fingers and toes crossed that it all works out ok for him.

Popped to the allotment and the manure hasn't been delivered yet so i expect that the ground is either too wet or the snow too deep to dig it out.At the rate this weather is going we are not going to get much stuff in the ground until later on so am going to start off my shallots and onions in deep trays and will probably have to do the same with the spuds at this rate:eeew:

Have a good day everyone and enjoy the sun if you get any:whistle:

            Aloha everyone,

I am late this morning kicking in but still I am like the weather all behind!

Kandy it is so frustrating not being able to get on with any of the gardening. I am beginning to wonder if it is going to happen this year at all at this rate.

Shiney, WOO and Loli and anyone else not feeling A1 hope you will all be at your best soon. Take care, keep warm and safe everyone. I am finding this weather so depressing. Need a SAD light I think.

PS Yes, Loli I forgot to say Amber's ears are so much better for the drops, nearly cleared up!

            Aloha!:wub2:

Hi all, just a quick pop in, Woo keep flying round GC and keep in touch. If you need anything just shout - I'm sure one of us will help!
Been to hospital today for my treatment. I went with a headache, returned with a worse one and took to bed and slept a couple of hours. Still have a bit of a headache but it may be due to stress.
Moyra, my friend has a SAD box, she bought it herself but I think our surgery now has one they lend out.
Am so fed up with the cold, the wind here in the East is so biting cold,,
Take care friends, keep warm too.

                    Aloha everyone,

What a beautiful sunny day today!

Woo, I'm pleased to see you flitting around GC but please take care :blue thumb:

I think I'm still improving but when these things go to my chest they seem to hang around for ages!

I've been going through a lot of my files and trying to clear some of the old stuff. The shredder has been filled six times and the pile of papers doesn't seem to be getting any smaller!

Keep well and have a great day

                      Aloha everyone,

Well the sun is out and so is my washing so lets hope it dries. Shiney, I am forever emptying my shredder as I have it down the side of my desk here but it fills up so quickly and it is a commercial one too not a little one like you normally buy for home use. This is good as it eats credit cards and staples without any trouble at all.

I hope all you who are suffering are managing to throw off your illnesses and will soon be back to normal again.

Wasn't that terrible about that little girl and those five dogs.

Well take care, stay warm and safe and have a good day everyone.

                      Aloha!:wub2:
