    Hi ya'll,

    Just logging in.

Sorry not been able to do much on the computer this week, since starting my new part-time job, it feels as though I am working full time.

The lady I work for has MS, and she has asked to work for her permanently,
between 2- 4 hours a day. That suits me fine, I therefore have to change all my normal routines, shopping etc. She is a very nice lady, but she has a bit of problem, and that is she is addicted to shopping channels and junk mail offers. I have explained that the envelopes promising that she has won thousands of pounds, are bogus, and as we go through all her mail, I have started sorting out what will be sent 'return to sender'. Its such a shame, I know she does it through depression and boredom, hopefully, by myself going and visiting, she will find the courage to change and save herself some money.

Then when I come home by 2.30pm, I sit and have coffee and biscuits, go through the mail, chat the OH, it's 4pm. I start then to do my gardening jobs, and before you know it, its time to make dinner.

Thankfully I am home all day on Saturday, but I making Strawberry Jam to sell a the boot sale on Sunday. Most of the afternoon will be taken up sorting out what I am taking, as it should be hot weather, so I won't be taking any of the woollies, but as I hope to take a lot of my tomato plants, they need to be selected.

Heyho, I shall crash with a nice chilled glass of vino, and gather myself for tomorrow.

Waves to all, hope you are all ok. :doggieshmooze:

        Aloha everyone,

I was around in the olden days :heehee:. I've been giving advice and sorting peoples' problems for over forty years! A lot of the time it only takes looking at the problem from the outside as it's so much easier when you don't have a personal or emotional interest in the problem.

I find it quite easy (with many years of experience) to solve the problems when they are obviously in the right and it's usually much easier for me to say "I'll sort it for you" than to try and explain how they should go about it and then to have to keep being phoned up with "what do I do next"! The hard ones to deal with are the situations where they are wrong but can't see it - even when I explain it to them!

Yesterday I was hobbling around and taking pain killers . My back had gone, mainly because I had overdone things , and partly because I had suffered three bouts of cramp (both feet and one calf) Thursday night which jerked me around and also made my back a lot worse. We spent all day yesterday out on a U3A walk (quite a bit of walking up and down fairly steep hills) and my back wasn't too much trouble - until we stopped for lunch at a pub and I needed to be helped out of the chair at the end of the meal  . More painkillers when I got home and then off to bridge - had to be helped again!!

It's not quite so bad this morning and I feel better when walking or standing. Which is a good thing as I'm going to have to stand in the kitchen and cook lunch for 14 people as Mrs Shiney is running a health seminar. Mrs Shiney will give me a back massage before everyone turns up (I'd better not let them see me hobbling around :snork:).

I'm making a veggie Thai curry so it's a lot of preparation but not so much cooking. With a bit of luck they will be eaing in the garden (it's quite frosty but the bright sunshine should warm things up) and I've got everything set up under the pergola which is more sheltered. Mrs Shiney will have to carry all the plates and serving dishes out there as I can't carry anything at the moment. Mrs Shiney will have to do car park duty :heehee: as I can't bend to get my shoes on.

        Have a great day

        Aloha!

            Aloha everyone,

Oh WOO far from looking a mess it is looking lovely. With this beautiful sunshine I feel I ought to get out there and do a bit more but I could do with going shopping for some more bird seed. Those big sack's don't last that long. It must be costing me nearly £5 a week just for the birds but then they do bring so much pleasure. There is some sort of wheat or chaff in that seed that the birds don't like and consequently it gets left on the ground. I have a lot to clear up. Must have a look at some other mixed wild bird seed to see if I can avoid it in future. Take care everyone and have a good day today.

Waves to Shiney, Loli, Kandy et al, hope you are all ok on this beautiful morning.

            Aloha!:wub2:

Wow, have Steve and I been busy in the garden today. Had a rethink. I have emptied the two troughs today and put them on the floor Steve has made the tables that he previously made to house the troughs on into frames for the wicker to be screwed securely to them thus making them more sturdy. They look great.; I have decided not to do the sweet peas and nasturtians in the bungalow bath instead we have emptied it of soil. Steve gave the bottom a quick coat of rapid fix with sand and we are going to use it as a very large sand pit for Amber to play in. She loves to dig in sand to find her toys which steve burys in the sand and up until now she had a small plastic tub of sand but the plastic tub was disintegrating in the sun and frost so now she can have the bungalow bath with a lot of sand in. It will give her some exercise and at the same time she will keep her nails short by scratching them on the bottom of the bath on the sand pitted finish. I managed to strim the edges all round and to then mow the grass all round to make a nice tidy finish. Now I am going to call it a day. Have a good evening all, God bless. :)

                Aloha everyone,

Woo, your garden is still looking good :blue thumb:. Is that a eucalyptus on the right? I have a suggestion about your garden. Once we have got Open Day out of the way, If you're still not able to get out there and get the garden tidy, I'd be happy to pop down to do an hour or two of tidying and I'm sure some of our members that are local would give a hand. You're only about an hour away so it would be no bother (I did the same for a friend up in Leicester which is much further).

Moyra, it sounds as though you got a lot done and Amber will be very happy :doggieshmooze:

Yeah, I'm thinking, 'I hope you've cleaned your oily rag'! :heehee:

Yesterday went quite well. They all had lunch out in the sun and even voted to have the afternoon seminar sessions outside

My back held up very well whilst I was standing up for four hours doing the cooking and washing up but was flagging a bit by the finish. It's the sitting (or trying to get up again) that gives me the problem - but it's improving.

Mrs Shiney came into the kitchen whilst I was prepping the food and took a couple of photos. I still had some ingredients to get ready but they were going to have their 'five a day' whether they liked it or not! :heehee:

This morning it has started out frosty again but quite sunny. I'm going to try and take things a bit easy during the morning and we have to go off at lunchtime to a friend's 80th birthday celebration.

                Have a great day

                Aloha!

Edit: Seeing in the first photo the branch of bayleaves has reminded me - any of you who are coming to Open Day are welcome to a branch of bayleaves (the tree is quite big). If you let me know in advance, then I can have it ready. :blue thumb:

Shiney, you are a right gentleman, you really are special. Food all looks nice and prepared.

Yes, I cannot wait until Amber has sufficient sand in her bath so she can have fun and the thing is it is deep enough to keep the sand well within it where as the plastic tray she had before the sand ended up all over the patio

WOO hope you feel better soon dear man. This sunshine will do you good. Take care.

Loli sounds as though you have a busy day ahead.

Been up since 5.45am, having got up to do a boot sale. Had a really good sale and sold about 40 tomato plants, and a good deal of jams and chutney.

Good to see you Lili and that you are doing well. Good luck for your OH hospital appointment.

I might take a ride out today to get some tomato plants to put in my cold greenhouse I can always cover them with fleece on cold nights or put a frost stat heater in there.

There was just a little bit of frost this morning but it's sunny again  I'm going to try and do a few gentle things out there today.

Our friend's 80th party went very well yesterday and the sunshine was very welcome. There was good company (about 80 people :)), good food and some superb piano playing. Her son in law (the friends that we stayed with in Singapore and Bali - different years), and two of his friends, are also classical pianists and they did a very good rendition of 'Happy Birthday' in a number of different styles - and they all played the same piano at the same time! Six hands flying over the keyboard was quite a sight. Her 11 year old grandson also played music during the afternoon and some of it was his own composition.

I had better get out there and do something now.

                          Have a great day

                          Aloha!
