Thank you, woo!! You reminded me of the delightful song by the Carpenters, which I'm listening to now and it is bringing back such wonderful memories of times gone by (but still wrapped tightly in my heart). You gave me a gift today, without even knowing it: I thank you :blue thumb:

'M' you are so right I was a great carpenters fan. Karen had such a unique voice. That song in particular was electric.!

        Good morning everyone,

What a scorcher of a weekend:phew:For all you sports fans I hope you all enjoyed the Tennis and GP... didn't Andy do well:yes:i spent my time in and out of the shade, wanting to do jobs in the garden but far too hot for me:rolleyespink:the chooks enjoyed it but I could see the dogs were uncomfortable.....
I did have a little pal following me around the garden though so didn't let the girls out there run until it had safely gone on it's way....

          Aloha everyone,

Well, yesterday was a real hottie! I spent most of it indoors and will do the same if today gets as hot as they are predicting. There's a lot more breeze around so it will feel not so clammy.

Keep well and enjoy your day

          Aloha!

          Aloha everyone,

Well we wanted a summer and now we cannot say we didn't have any! Too much for me but I do love to see the sun from looking out from a cool shaded house. Well yesterdays sports events under extreme heat conditions went well. That apparently on the court was 40c. I suppose with all that spent energy that made the temperatures soar there. Well done to the Scottish lad though he did well. Nice to remember Dunblane from it being his birth place rather than its previous history.

WOO, you do be careful you do not scorch your wings my dear as it is going to be another stinker and deceiving if there is a bit of a breeze.

Loli, what a lovely little friend to have following you around the garden, lovely little pic. I am not surprised the boys are feeling it their coats are even thicker than Ambers. Some say that the thicker the coat the cooler it keeps them, I am not convinced by that.

Shiney, glad you are keeping in out of the tremendous heat of the day my dear as we do not want you getting burnt up either. Do take care. Hope H's knee is improving.

Steve is busy in the garden taking the ivy off the wall of the flat where it has seed itself and growing like made. He is then going to take back an old fuchia plant that has developed some sort of disease or it is where the painters have flicked all their paint over the leaves when they were decorating out there. He taking no chances and taking it back for me.

My back has started paining me again so I am back on the extra strength paracetamol again. Have a good day everyone and all our friends absent from the page. Take care in the heat of the day not to get burnt. God bless.

          Aloha!:wub2:

Steve went out and did some pruning back and I joined him before it got too hot out there. Have filled our green wheelie bin and made quite an impression on the garden. He did say he would take some more photos for me of the aquilegia and other flowers in the garden. 1st sweet pea out as I was so late seeding them. Hope you are all managing to keep cool.

            Good morning!

loli, what a charming little companion you have there! It must have made your day seeing him :dbgrtmb:

moyra, sorry to hear you are on the Xtra strongs; hope it isn't for too long :grphg: Sounds as though Steve has worked a treat in your garden :dbgrtmb:

            shiney, stay cool!

woo - great minds: I've placed crushed mussel shells around my hosta, (which is coming into flower  - merely taking its time over it :heehee: ) and that seems to be doing the trick too.

Today is going to be a hoe day (well, it will be if I get out in the next hour or so) and I need to do a scratch test on a rose. Actually, I need to take some pictures of my roses to update a thread from last year

The four new beds (and one 'rescued' one) all seem to be doing well, so far. It's really lovely to sit on the decking and enjoy the interest they bring to the garden now. Not forgetting the birds that have arrived as a result! Lots of blackbirds and thrushes hopping around the raised beds :blue thumb:

Last week I put out a bird bath (which wasn't actually a bird bath but I thought it would look nice as one). I was sat on my patio step later that day and I could hear a chaffinch singing away. Then I spied it on the tree which overhangs my garden near the pond (aka, near the bird bath!). I was thinking how wonderful it would be if the chaffinch came and used the new bird bath; so, I listened and I watched as he sang, branch hopped, sang some more and hopped ever nearer to the new bird bath. After a very brief time, he made his move and made his final swoop ... to the base of the apple tree and the dogs water bowl! :heehee: Ah well, bird baths are probably more ornament than use much of the time anyway.

Wishing you all a day which gives your heart a lift.
            Miles of smiles

            Aloha everyone,

It's a lovely day out there. The sun is shining, it's still nice and cool and the birds are singing. :dancy:

I've done two hours of weeding as I don't like working in the hot sun . The weeds, and the lawns, were soaked by a heavy dew which will keep some things watered enuogh for now. I've moved the sprinkler over to another of the main flower beds. The runner beans and courgettes that I gave a good few hours of sprinkler treatment to have already shown their thanks. Lots of flowers showing on the beans and I spotted one tiny bean :hapydancsmil:. There will be about 10 courgettes ready for picking by the end of the week :)

I knew it was time to come in from the weeding as Mr Pheasant was shouting at me and telling me to get out of the way. As soon as I walked away with my bucket of weeds he went over there to inspect the work I'd done. :heehee:

Keep well, enjoy the weather and have a great day

            Aloha!

            Aloha everyone,

Shiney that pheasant of yours has a ruddy cheek you'd think he owned your garden, Lol.

'M' what a lovely idea for a bird bath. I have one of those swinging ones hanging from the feeding station tree which I keep clean and replenished each day. It does their needs.

WOO, your hostas looks good, I hadn't got any seashell to put round mine so I put small grit but it didn't stop them getting at them and finishing them off so I have never replaced them. I suppose the salt in the seashell also helps keep them away.

No Loli today yet, hope she is okay.

Have a good day everyone, I am off to Chelmsford to have lunch with some friends later on. Thank God for A/C in the car. Take care and do not get sunburnt any of you.

            Aloha!:wub2:

It took me 45 minutes this evening watering pots and baskets with the hose.:phew: It would be impossible with a watering can!

            Aloha everyone,

Yesterday evening was the hottest one so far. It was still 82F at 7 p.m.

I've done some more weeding in the lovely cool sunshine this morning :blue thumb: and may go out and do a bit more when I've had breakfast.

Keep well and have a great day

            Aloha!
