    Aloha Kandy, Woo and everyone,

It's feels cooler this morning as it's a bit overcast and we have as light breeze. We had a new super sprinkler delivered yesterday that I hope will make life a lot easier. Our main sprinkler is about 20 years old and is now very temperamental as it sometimes decides it won't oscillate and the newer one, about three years old, oscillates too quickly and throws the water everywhere (which would be OK for a lawn but no good for just directing on the flower beds).

They forecast very hot again from tomorrow with an outside chance of showers during the first part of the week.

Mrs Shiney is going up to London this evening to go on a 'Jack the Ripper walk' with some friends. I'll stay at home and cook some vegetarian food I promised to cook for a lunch party we're going to tomorrow. It's about an hour's drive away. Whilst I'm doing the cooking I'm going to cook myself some nice roast beef and crispy roasties. :blue thumb:.

I'll get some more weeding done in the 'cool' of the morning.

Kepp well and have a great day

    Aloha!

      Good morning everyone,

      Are we all OK?:dbgrtmb:

Kandy...i bet your pussycat is all curled up and sleeping now after getting you up early for breakfast:biggrin:....it's a job and a half keeping up with the watering in this weather isn't it:phew: i think everything is coping quite well so far...including us:biggrin: but with higher temperatures forecast it will be a testing time....i'm sure mother nature will save the day:thumbsup:....i'd like my water butts filling up but preferably not in one hit......

Shiney i have an old sprinkler which i really should get set up as my poor lawn is really suffering now...made worse by the 'boys'....i've noticed with it being so hot they've been staying in the front half of the house where it's cool for most of the day only venturing out to use the 'gents'....and instead of walking across the garden to the trees they've used the first bit of grass they've come to and gone straight back in:rolleyespink:.....
Mrs Shiney is sure to enjoy her 'jack the ripper' walk...sounds very interesting:dbgrtmb:

Grey skies here this morning:huh: now there's a novelty....hoping to get cracking with a few more jobs seen as it's a bit cooler:dbgrtmb:

Hope you managed to get the rest of your repairs done Woo:thumbsup:

Waves toPenny, Moyra,Kandy,Lili ,Jaz ,'M' et al....

Have a great day, take it steady and take care:SUNsmile:

        Aloha everyone,

Shiney I am sure H will enjoy her Jack the Ripper tour. Not for me makes me shudder just the thought of it.

Kandy, I have a big pussy cat that does that to me. Well sometimes I think she thinks she is but Amber always tries to lay on my pillow while my head is still there. The lottie must be taking up a lot of your time now but the fruit of your labours are well deserved.

WOO, hope you finished your fence repairing now. Was it purely the heat that started the fire?

Loli, you can hardly blame the dogs not wanting to stay out in it. I hope they are managing to keep cool.

Well have a good day everyone and try and stay cool, God bless.

        Aloha!:wub2:

          Morning all,

A bit of respite this morning- overcast with the odd ray of sun, just what I need today, in the kitchen, been cooking all morning.

Cooked 3 batches of apples to make pies later today.

Made 6 jars of lemon curd, 3 jars of caramelised onion chutney, 4 jars of morello cherry jam and 4 jars of red-currant and cherry jam. I shall then label them all and get them ready to sell tomorrow at the boot sale.

Now sat reclining in my chair as my leg is aching, deciding when to make salad for lunch.

Later on today I shall put a large piece of brisket that I got yesterday reduced from £8 down to £3.50, I have'nt had brisket for years, and I shall cook it slow, keep the juices, and roast some spuds in goose fat and the juices, roasted pumpkins ,carrots and fresh greens form the garden, my tummy is rumbling already.

Well, I hope you take it carefully and enjoy your weekend.

          xx:doggieshmooze:

            Aloha everyone,

It will be a more relaxing day today as we have a lunch party to go to. I suppose I had better put on my socialising head and not my grumpy old man head . Although I might still manage to insult a few people :heehee:.

If the offer is still on, Sainsburys were selling leg of lamb at half price - £5 something per kg. I bought some for the freezer the other day. :blue thumb:

Lili, sorry to hear about your tooth .

            Have a great Sunday

            Aloha!

Lovely pic Woo...Penny looks like she's enjoying her late night wander:doggieshmooze:

            Ooo Lili....sorry about the tooth:ouch1:

Can't imagine you having your Grumpy head on Shiney....but if so ....swap it:pathd::biggrin:...enjoy your lunch:dbgrtmb:....

Moyra that was so funny about Amber getting on your pillow:heehee:...Archi has a tendency to do that too:rolleyespink:

It's another grey start here today...yesterday the cloud didn't lift at all and 20 degrees felt quite 'chilly' compared to the 30 degrees we've had of late.....it does look like the sky is starting to break up now:dbgrtmb:....

Have a great relaxing day everyone and take care:SUNsmile:

Loli, it's a conundrum! I enjoy playing at 'Grumpy Old Man' - and so I'm happy. :dancy:

I've had a good week so far. :blue thumb: I've wound up my bank, the taxman, the local council and four unsolicited telephone callers. They all deserved it :heehee:. The phone callers all ended up slamming the phone down (after about 15 minutes) :snork:, the council apologised, the taxman promised not to bug me again and the bank have offered me a £35 'goodwill gesture' :hapydancsmil:

                Aloha Everyone,

Shiney, I do not get any more nuisance phone calls, I bought a CPR call blocker. cost me 39.99 but worth every penny. where as I used to get two maybe three nuisance calls a day I have not had one since putting this tiny little unit in between my phone and its line. Should I get one that this little machine is not programmed to reject then I can press block call and that too will be blocked in future. Wonderful little unit.

Woo your garden is looking good at that hour of the morning and Penny is enjoying her sniff around.

Lili, sorry you have broken a tooth. I have one that broke off years ago close to my gum and since I haven't been to the dentist since 1989 it can stay like it. It is a molar and the tooth next to it became loose so I extracted that myself. I suppose I shall have to go some time or other.

Loli, Yes Amber loves my pillow and I am convinced she believes it is hers and that it is me that is intruding on her pillows.

Sheets changed beds made, hoovered all round, just a bit of dusting to do and hang the washing out when it is done. Yes, I can get on why? hee hee Steve has gone fishing!! He has gone with his darts friends from Canvey Island so I hope he catches something. I am going for a shower as my hair is ringing wet from perspiration and I definitely need to change my clothes as they are damp too. then I can finish the dusting and hanging the washing out and put some more in the machine.

Have a good day all, God bless.

                Aloha!:wub2:

I think it works out the same and by the same method! Apart from when I'm running a joke against the unsolicited phone calls, I'm unfailingly polite and friendly. :blue thumb:

That stops the organisation at the other end from being able to refuse to answer my questions. The bank tried to fob me off with their standard answer 'It's for your security' and I politely failed to understand how it could be in this particular instance. They eventually agreed with me - and 'bribed' me to shut up! :hapydancsmil:

The only real grumpy bit is me deciding not to just shrug my shoulders when I see that something is wrong. That's part of why I handle problems that some of the local disadvantaged people have. :)
