Morning @Verdun , @shiney ....and all who look in :)

Yes @Verdun it's a sad fact of life that seems to get more poignant as I age......memories become so much more important.

Lovely looking start to the weekend but it's tricking us.....freezing outside!!!!
Will have to search out my thermals again before venturing out into the garden today!!!

Not sure what to do, maybe a quick check over the borders. Just waiting on the planting out season to begin but will definitely wait a few more weeks ...too many nippy surprises still lurking in the shadows!

    Have a super day! :):dbgrtmb:

            Aloha everyone,

            Happy birthday Amber :)

It's good to hear that all you peeps seem to be getting better. :dbgrtmb:

Yesterday's cookery teach-in went well and everyone woofed the food down afterwards.

We have friends coming today (the ones that run our kitchen on Open Day) and it will be Indian curry tonight. I'll do four different types of curry. I do love my food! :heehee:

Keep well and have a great day

            Aloha!

Morning @Flumpy!! How are you feeling, hope the antibacs. did there job.:blue thumb:

Thanks, yes hubs is definitely on the mend, still has a hacking cough and another couple of days left on his 2nd lot of meds......but all is looking positive..

My sore throat is still painful but so far hasn't developed any further.....:fingers crossed: I might escape more lightly from the bug.

Lots going round at the moment though, the local big secondary school was ordered to close on Wednesday so that a 'deep clean ' could be conducted to rid it from viruses!!!:yikes:

I'm only an amateur but that sounds a bit silly to me. Wouldn't stopping the infected kids coming to school be a better idea? Otherwise they would all be home and playing in the streets and infecting each other anyway. :noidea:

Depends what the virus was. A couple of months ago Health and Safety closed a couple of schools in nearby Southampton too as the pupils and almost half the staff were ill, both had to undergo a deep clean. If it's on that scale then it makes perfect sense to try and prevent the spread. This would then have a knock on effect of safeguarding the most vulnerable in our society, elderly, very young and those with a low immune system. Prevention is the way to go rather than waiting for the numbers to increase within the wider community and then having to pump drugs into everyone!

Obviously normal ailments and bugs are a good thing on the whole and helps to build up immunity in children.

Just depends on what the virus is and the possible severity / outcome it places on the wider community.

For example.....it my Dad had been exposed to hubs recent chest infection and flu then I'm almost certain ,due to his frailty, it would possibly have proved fatal!!!

I understand and agree with that but I'm still not sure what a deep clean of the school would be for. I could understand it if it was something like norovirus but if it was flu type symptoms then I'm not sure what cleaning would do.

I think they need to 'deep clean' a lot of the hospitals to hopefully eradicate MRSA.
