How do they get in Shiney? Do you have gaps at the bottom of your fence?, sorry to hear you’ve lost all these plants, it must be upsetting

        Good morning folks :)

I empathise Shiney.....rabbits in the garden are prob the very last thing anyone wants to see. As already suggested, maybe you can identify possible points where they can enter your garden :)

Rabbits used to come into front garden....back garden is protected by a wall and gate.....but a discreetly erected mesh fence along front border, also rabbit proofed gate, has generally been effected. The first rabbit in a few years got in a couple of months ago but my nephew's Jack Russel was here at the time and caught it. (Didn’t kill it or even hurt it so I took it to the Towans and released it)

It is another glorious day....warm and dry. :)

Unfortunately it's virtually impossible to block them out. We have a rabbit (and deer) fence at the back but most of the boundary is made of 800ft of hedges and to rip those out and put in fence would be too costly, an enormous job and remove too much natural habitat for the wildlife. We have a good few dozen birds' nests and, of course, some of the hedging is not ours.

On one side the neighbour has the rabbits nesting under their patio (about 150ft down our back garden) and as the paving runs to our boundary they just burrow out from underneath and come up in our shrubs and flowers.

Access for them from the front is also impossible to block. Those members that have been to our place will know what it's like.

The farmer is now having a monthly rabbit shoot and some of the neighbours are talking about getting dogs in to find the rabbit holes and then getting the ferret man in to do a weekly visit until things have calmed down.

Sarafi now can't get into the greenhouse (his favourite sleeping area) because we have had to wire cage the door.

                            Aloha everyone,

Very sunny and breezy here so I'll get a little gardening done if my migraine allows it. :blue thumb: Then it will be staying indoors in the cool for the next few days apart from some shopping and the occasional meeting or game of bridge. :)

Keep cool and have a great day
