      Aloha everyone,

Very wet and windy here but the forecast says sunny after lunch (what happens if I don't have lunch? :heehee:).

Our visit to our friend went well. Physically, she is having trouble walking, even with a walker. Mentally, she is better than we thought she might be. There were only a few slightly confused moments, such as she thought her son had moved home but wasn't sure (he hasn't) but generally we were able to have a fairly good conversation. She was certainly clear enough to explain that she realises that she couldn't possibly cope on her own and said that she knows this is her final home and is making the most of it.

The home she is in appeared to be excellent. An attractive modern building, spacious inside and well appointed. There are three floors and each has a name of a road instead of being called 'n' floor. So she lives on Autumn Way which is prefaced by the number of her room. There is a main dining room/restaurant but most residents tend to eat in a smaller dining room on their own floor. This keeps it a cosy community. The corridors are wide enough to have the occasional armchair/settee. Her room was quite big with her bed, a desk, an armchair and a settee and it still wasn't crowded. The bathroom was also quite large. We met her in her room but then went down to the café which was very comfortable with tea/coffee machine and cakes and biscuits - help yourself - with a young member of staff to assist and to clear away empties.

They have a well kept and pleasant garden, and a daily schedule of activities including crafts, music, fitness, dancing, quiz etc. Local groups also hold meetings there and the residents join in. They also allow residents, that are able to, to help in the garden and even in the kitchen with cooking. Apparently they also have a cinema. Whilst we were there they had the weekly visit from a Cavalier King Charles spaniel - extremely friendly and lively. There seemed to be plenty of friendly staff around. I haven't the faintest idea of costs!

Keep well and have a great day

      Aloha!

As long as there’s no movement from the bowel things should be ok.

              Aloha everyone,

Good morning young @wiseowl and the best of wishes to you on what looks as though it may be a nice sunny, but cold, day. :blue thumb:

I hope that everyone that's a bit under the weather is going to pamper themselves today and shall recover quickly. :grphg:

I have my padded clothes peg ready for later this morning. The sludge lorry is coming to empty our tank and I shall have to hose down all three inspection chambers. I'll need to get out there first to lever up all the handles on the manholes but shall leave it to 'the man' to lift them off. They're very heavy as they are the recessed type with paving stones set in them to match the patio.

Keep well and have a great day

              Aloha!

                      Aloha everyone,

Today is even sunnier than yesterday but still just as cold.

I have things to do here but Mrs Shiney is off to London for the memorial service of a neighbour. He used to be an MP (Yorkshire) so the service is somewhere up at Westminster.

Keep well and have a great day

                      Aloha!

                            Goooooooood afternoon, fellow WW'ers :spinning:

The sun is shining, but it is cold.

The home where she is staying sounds really lovely. I especially like how they have named the floors as street names, that is inspired! :dbgrtmb:

Sorry to hear that. One day at a time Moyra :grphg: Hope the new drug is more gentle with you.
                            Are they off? :dunno:
Do the water test on them before you cook/eat them. At this time of year, many hens are not laying (at least, not frequently) so to get eggs so cheaply when they are not in full production would definitely make me water test them first!
Obviously, much depends on the breed, but even my most prolific layers take a Winter vacation :heehee: My girls go off lay in November and don't start production again until the end of January beginning of February when the days are getting longer and warmer. Speaking of which ...

... how wonderful it is to hear the birds in the morning once again! The birdsong began a couple of weeks ago and is gradually getting louder as more birds join in. Even better, the longer day light hours!! Noticed this morning one of my snowdrops is about to bloom :wub2:
The borage seeds I scattered last Autumn have survived thus far; some slug damage but at least their root growth will be strong.

I'm gradually getting over the ugly cold/cough :sick0026: which knocked me for six last Friday :thud: I was even sent home from work :yikes: not that they had much choice  the writing was on the wall when a client hung up on me! I had to get a colleague to call them back :heehee: Voice was down to a whisper, at best, so I was sent packing  The cold side of it is now better, but my chest is another matter  I'm very grateful that it wasn't the 'flu though and I did return to work on Monday ... when I had a voice to answer back with :heehee:

Healing vibes for all of those in need of them

Miles of smiles for all xxMxx
