Good morning folks :)...lovely and sunny and mild so I continued with extra supports for climbers on top wall. Watered gh and conservatory plants......I lose more young plants and cuttings over winter by forgetting to water than anything else.

He's vacuuming the moss off the roof there's lots of it) and from the gullies and gutters. He doesn't do pressure hosing. Then he will spray a chemical on it to kill and deter the algae.

            Aloha everyone,

I'm pleased that today is the shortest day. Apart from the joy of the coming days getting longer it's raining today so it's good that it's shorter. :heehee:

Yesterday was a nice sunny day but the roof man didn't manage to finish the job. He miscalculated how long it would take so we've come to an agreement on price. I'd said to Mrs Shiney originally that the price he had stated was much lower than I expected. He certainly wasn't slacking as he was running around like mad all day.

The moss on the roof was much deeper than he thought and the roof gullies were 6" deep in it. He used a powerful vacuum on a very long tube to remove a lot of it but he first used a long scraper on a tube. When we originally spoke about how much moss there is he calculated it could possibly fill a wheelie bin (he can't dispose of it). We (Mrs Shiney) decided that it should go on the compost heap and it turned out to be 21 wheel barrows full :hate-shocked:

We've agreed on me paying him for another half day's work no matter how long it takes. I reckon it will be closer to a whole day but I'm not sure how difficult the rest of the job is. He was happy with that as he was also embarrassed for his bad calculation. It turned out that in the 1980/90s he was a customer of mine. :blue thumb:

I hope to get a lot of paperwork done today even though the rain seems to have eased up.

Keep well and have a great day

            Aloha!

Morning! , Strange.. I'm not getting any alerts this morning, I thought everyone was snoozing still:snooze:

Gosh that's a lot of moss @shiney . We get quite a bit on our garage roof as it's more shaded by the trees, hubs gives it a good clean and power wash when he clears the gutters, mind you it's great for attracting the birds, they even help with clearing it off at times too!!

Yay!!:yay: ,yes @wiseowl the shortest day is here!!! It's all downhill from now on:dbgrtmb:

Busy day today , eye test for me then doing some last minute grocery shopping for my Dad ( knew this would happen, despite my earlier reminders!). Later we have to take him for some minor surgery, then obviously settle him back down when we bring him home later. It is only minor....but my Dad doesn't do 'minor'.... bless him, only major:heehee:! Mind you I won't be giggling if I get a phone call in the middle of the night!

Have a brilliant shortest day everyone:bigthumb:

                    Wakey, wakey......can I hear lots of snoring!!!:snooze::snooze::snooze::snooze:

Or have you all gone to do last minute shopping?

Had to go to do a 'small' supermarket shop for my Dad yesterday ( he used the word small!) :yikes::yikes: Oh gosh it was pure manic!!

Why??? I can never understand it, it's only a turkey ( maybe) roast dinner after all!
As I've grown older I have found it increasingly obscene at the amount of food we consume and ,worse still , waste over the festive season. To me it intensifies the plight of the poor and starving and not forgetting the homeless too.
Some people yesterday could hardly even push their trolleys!!

Don't get me wrong , I enjoy Christmas and all that goes with it, but not in copious amounts.:santa wave::box::dancing:

                    Enjoy your day !

                      Aloha everyone,

I've been out pottering in the garden this morning as it's sunny out there.

We never waste any food :blue thumb: and even the edible trimmings (such as fat and bones) go out in the garden for Sarafi and the birds. The crows take the bones away :). Peelings etc. go on the compost heaps.

I didn't have any problems with roads, people or parking with my last supermarket shop as I did it at 2 a.m. this morning. :snorky:

Keep well and have a good day

                      Aloha!

Might just have a chilled day after preparing the beds for visiting family members.:recliner::cheers:.....sounds like a good plan to me:thumbsup:
