It may sound as though I was joking but the sock thing was a proper old folklore way of curing sore throats. They used to take the well worn socks, put them round their throat and tie them in place with a scarf.

The old boy who used to come round on his bike to sharpen our garden tools (and knives, if you let him) always used it when he had a sore throat and said it worked like a charm! :blue thumb:

          Aloha everyone,

We have family coming today so I've plenty of cooking to do. I've mad a big pan of French onion soup (takes too long to do it on the day) and the village shop is baking some nice French bread for us.

It will be nothing too complicated. Roast chicken done with garlic and herbs, extremely crispy roast potatoes, Brussels sprouts (bought them on the stick :blue thumb:), stir fried mangetout and carrots with a hint of fresh ginger, my own version of Melanzane alla Parmigiana (aubergine, tomato, courgette and parmesan bake) and stuffed peppers (already done). Apple crumble (gluten, sugar and dairy free), blackberry mousse - both of those from home grown fruit and already made - and fresh fruit salad (mango, pineapple, papaya, nectarines and melon).

Keep well and have a great day

          Aloha!

That's more exotic than mine as I just have porridge without the fruit :) I don't know how much I have but shall now have to go and weigh it. Three heaped dessert spoons full. :blue thumb:

I've just done my usual precise measuring of my porridge (spoon in pot, lift out and dump in pan - three times) but I weighed the result this time.

                      37g :blue thumb: :snorky:

@wiseowl not quite. It's with half water and half B.O.B. and three drops of Stevia (it's the proper Stevia and not the adulterated, with artificial sweeteners, version you can buy in the UK).

B.O.B. is a different milk as explained by the company that produces it:-

Arla B.O.B is a lovely little ray of sunshine in the dairy aisle - a fat-free skimmed milk that tastes as full-flavoured as semi-skimmed

                              Good morning....er, afternoon...folks :)
No Flumpy, no visit to the beach today. I have been scarifying and raking front lawn again. Skipped brekkie today to get out there and get the job done...less than half to do now.
Why do folk now go on about another beast from the east? Day at a time and so far what a fantastic autumn and winter.....know what? It will stay mild and warm right through to the summer heatwave:SUNsmile:
