YAY!! JUST HEARD A CUCKOO !!

    Well the spring sunshine tempted us out yesterday to the River Severn at Oldbury. Unfortunately cold winds were still blowing up the Bristol Channel so it wasn't very warm and although there were a lot of birds singing in the reed beds they were well hidden and we didn't get many opportunities to try out our new Canon SX50 (thanks to Kristen for his informative description of the camera which encouraged us to take the plunge :dbgrtmb: ). We did however spot this linnet who obligingly posed for the camera:

    We were on our way back to our car bemoaning the fact that we hadn't heard the cuckoo when in the distance we heard a distant call :yes: It carried on calling and was quite loud by the time we got to the car park but lunch and warmth were becoming a priority so we didn't try to get close enough to spot it. However we came home happy to have been lucky enough to hear it.:hapfeet:
