I'll do that, John!! I must admit that I'm really intrigued myself to see what happens. The fact that it has decided to flower in the cool, low light conditions of my Kitchen is also making me wonder if that induced it.:D

Yes, you're right Pete>:D But, I keep coming across descriptions where [like on the Monrovia site} it's described as a yellow flower. Daves Garden site also describes it as a yellow flower......and yet we have other sites describing the flower as red/purple. I'll have to try to identify it as it develops I guess, although to be honest I lean towards your identification than I do the others:heehee::D

I thought you might like a quick up date of the flower of the banana as it is now from what it was a couple of weeks ago, not that startling but there is a difference:

Just thought some people would like to know that of the 3 varieties of Banana seeds I planted on 6 January this year I have one that has germinated. It's a Musa Mannii, so hopefully, there may be more. To be honest, I didn't have really high hopes of any of the seeds germinating especially knowing that they take such a long time to do so. Anyway I'll be keeping an eye on the propagator with a more optimistic view from now on......well, you never know, that might be more!:snork:
