Hi Rosa, sorry for the delay in replying.
You are spot on - its more like bread than Yorkshire Pud. So lesson learned - I have to get plain flower and pop in lots of eggs to make it rise.
I will persevere as I am enjoying the bread that resulted!
    Many thanks!
    Roy

    Hi Rosa,
    thanks indeed for your reply!
Okay then... you laughed about my attempts with wholemeal flour and what have you.
Mmm... maybe I am pretending I am married after all (previous threads) cos it seems I cook like a batchelor with no abilitly whatsoever.

Long story really Rosa but anyhow, I will try again with the correct products and will get back to you because I will be successful with the Yorkshire Pud!
I will be successful... I will be successful...

    Many thanks indeed!
    Roy

P.S. I may be inclined to throw in a little bit of chilli when I can get my hands on the good stuff.

I'll stick with the pud mix as then I can't go wrong, can I Rosa?!

I used the wholemeal stuff cos it was 5 in the morning when I felt the urge to do the cooking and yes - it was all the flour there was in my house and the wholemeal stuff is also organic so cost me a fair whack and I thought it best be put to use somehow.

I'll now have to find a pretty simple recipe where I can use the wholemeal organic.

Any suggestions would be most welcome!

    Kind regards
    Roy

hi royster, did you get the plain flour, i did some more used 6ozs plain flour and 6 eggs turned out fine with pinch of salt & pepper and of course your milk, make sure you give mixture a good whisk so there is no lumps and dont forget little lard in each tin and let it be hot oven and lard in tins sizzle at least 10 mins. yorkshires should just take about 20 mins.

    Rosa, thanks for the info!
Is it possible to improvise on the lard as I'm not sure if I am a lardy sort of person? Can I use olive oil or butter maybe?

I'm pretty hot with the old omellettes so I would think a proper whisking of the eggs will not be a problem.

    Many thanks!

never used either of these, try a little butter i think as far as i can gather olive oil will burn too much in a hot oven.just whisk the whole ingredients together, your welcome hope they turn out ok for you

Guess what I am going to make for lunch tomorrow? Think I will try yours first Rosa as you started it off, then next time yours Celia. I always only ever heard of using plain flour. Years ago I had a bad run with my Yorkies and started putting baking powder in the mix, and they got worse and worse. Then my Auntie came over to visit me and said to stop the baking powder bit, and since then all fine.
I read about putting thyme in Yorkies last week and wanted to try them out before posting the recipe here.
