Thanks Sal, that white raised pond is just lovely. The last picture doesn't seem to be working for me, could you post a link?

I have a small pond preformed not quite as big as the first one but about the size of the next inside bit of it. It also has a waterfall piece which is separate and somewhere I also have a pump for it. Going free to a good home but maybe coming from St. Albans to just outside Basildon would be too far for you to come but you would be welcome to it. If you want it.

That's so kind of you Moyra. The distance wouldn't be too much of an issue as long as the M25 was playing ball :snork:. I am set on a raised or semi-raised pond though due to a daft dog. This forum is so lovely!

0405240025.JPG 0506090074.JPG My Semi raised pond 1foot above ground 1 foot below. made from blocks laid on the side for better insulation. It wasn't the cheapest option but the second photo was taken in 2005. I would do things slightly differently. Build a channel to fit the 1 1/2 inch filter pipes under the paving slabs. Build the planter before filling the pond with water and do not put koi in a pond without a bottom drain (or in a pond less than 20 foot long probably)
