Got home from work to realise I'd left the mobile there; no problem go in put the delivery inside and then go and get mobile. Simple! No; at this point I found I'd left the door key on the side in the kitchen, spare key, normally lives outside, but was currently also in the kitchen. Right round to garage, get hammer, break small glass pane in front door, reach in unlock and I'm in. Take a sniff and realise I'd left the coffee machine on with a mug of coffee in the jug, now well stewed. Cleared up glass, nailed board over opening (one advantage of wooden doors) back to work, got mobile, got asked a couple of questions by a colleague and eventually back home two hours later than usual.
Now have to clean out the window space, measure and buy glass and refit.

After the rain stopped at lunchtime we decided to go into town..Winchester this time, and browse the Farmer's Market.

Really great atmosphere and stall holders were walking around with trays of yummy samples!! Hubs went off to a nearby store as he wanted to buy a couple of new shirts so I sat in the sunshine with a lovely mug of hot chocolate and ....people watched!! Well not just people :doggieshmooze:

I watched as two ( separately owned ) dogs sat patiently as their owners bought items. Both looked as if they were willing items to fall off from the stalls and land at their feet :heehee:. One was at a cheese stall......gosh how my Dad's dogs would do anything for a cube of cheese!! The other ( big !!) dog was at the meat stall and was lovingly eyeing up the various joints:heehee:. Such cruel temptation!!

        My perfect afternoon. :heehee:

All my cats have loved cheese, including the current two, especially cheese triangles and hamburger cheese. :heehee: :cat-kittyandsmiley::cat-kittyandsmiley: Think they like what we like.

Labelling! @Upsydaisy , I have graduated from the beginner level into Intermediate Labelling, at least when it comes to spice jars. In the 12-steps-to-labelling programme I'm at step 3, at minimum!

I'm now a proud owner of a DYMO labeller and now the spice jars have carefully crafted labels replacing the bits of masking tape with scribbles such as M.HE. (mixed herbs, I think).

DYMO takes me back to late 70s when my uncle had one and allowed me to twist-and-click several labels with my name to adorn my pencil case and to keep for future needs. Wow, a sticker with your name! :yahoo:

I used to have one of those, it was handy for labelling plants. I didn't know you could still get the tapes for them ...
              I don't think I've got it now.

I'm not so sure about this....

A North Wales restaurant boss plans to open an axe throwing bar in Llandudno.

Most concerning! The Welsh should really leave that kind of activity in the safe hands of professionals. This is from the Highlands Games.

Hopefully, the axe-throwing takes place before the whisky tasting

Went to see my Great Nephew - Eric - today. He has made an Easter bonnet for an upcoming competition. Here he is trying the bonnet on for size :dbgrtmb::

Not far from here - this is what it's all about:

A male was seen on the A483 Cargo overpass, the fear was that he may fall or jump.

Officers and members of the public spent a considerable amount of time supporting the male who was safely removed.

Quick thinking bus drivers placed their buses directly below the individual to significantly reduce the height he may have fallen.

Spent a lovely morning roaming around Gosforth Nature Reserve, it's just 20 min walk from us but we have never been in so far. Our usual walk takes us along the wrong side of the barbed wired fence and we can hear the birds and see the dragonflies and of course the deer hop in and out- but until today we haven't been inside. It's a fiver each so quite posh!

                            naturereserve1.jpg

                            naturereserve2.jpg

We saw cormorants and storks and various tits, singing their hearts out. :) The hide at the feeding station near the entrance had the best bit, once the rats scuttled off the field mice moved in to collect the dropped seeds. Goodness me how cute and pretty they are!

It was a bit odd and concerning that none of the various swampy ponds and streams had any aquatic life at all. No sign of frogs, spawn, insects- nothing. Just crystal clear water.

Anyways, a lovely morning out, next time we'll take sandwiches and tea in a thermos. And crisps. And chocolate bars, or perhaps we'll go full Famous Five and take a ham and a cake and tins of biscuits plus ginger beer :heehee:

Made a start to polishing the car, which has not been touched since we got it just before Christmas. I do it a piece at a time so I started by washing and drying the roof and bonnet then waxing those areas. The front wheels had some brake dust on them so I washed and polished those as well. I also washed some of the black plastic work on and around the engine.
This is a picture of the car before I started so you can see that despite sitting out all winter it was not in too bad a state. Mind you, I have not quite covered 200 miles since getting it.
