Guys replacing all the plastics on the roofline today and then next 2 days. Just look at these Diva cucumbers - ripe for picking and will be going in a lovely stir fry tomorrow lunch time.

They're looking good @clanless , ours are doing well too, we've just harvested our 4th. I have to admit I've never thought about adding them to a stir fry.. I've used Courgettes ,don't Cukes go a bit watery??

I have had a headache for most of the day. My head feels like a cabbage. The ginger brew I made a couple of weeks ago tasted a little sweet. Perhaps I put a double dose of sugar in it by mistake, so it could have come out at about 7-8% ABV rather than 4.5. GAH!

My daughter & grandaughter are off out for the day, so I'm going into town for Egg, Chips & Coffee soon. I can't be bothered cooking for myself.

I've just had them for lunch - fried in extra virgin olive oil. They did shrink a little but were very tasty. Some greens, cream and rib eye steak were thrown into the mix as well :blue thumb:.

Tomorrow I will try them with some blue red leicester cheese. Yes it does exist - it's the red leicester variety of stilton.

Just got this text through - on my home router:

Hiya mum if you get this message can you pop me a text on 07379436121 as I've broke my phone by accident so this will be my temporary number untill its fixed x

I think I'll text them my bank details - or perhaps not.

Guys replacing guttering disturbed a wasps nest - nothings ever straight forward.

Popped in B&Q for a small tin of black paint - they wanted £20. So we went to local diy shop and go one for £6.99. B&Q you rip off con merchants.

I took today off and had planned a trip to the local shopping centre for a desperately needed hair cut and some shopping. It's a nice 45 mins walk from us, and on a weekday a pleasant task.

A better idea- why not use the £2 bus fare cap and do all the deeds in the lovely Durham instead? :ideaIPB:

So off we went, found a bus that took an hour there (the train takes 15 mins, just long enough to eat a bag of crisps and say "look Mum, sheep" five times) and took us through places we would never think of visiting.

Chester-Le-Street actually looks charming, and the town of Pity Me got us googling the etymology of the name. Apparently it's a version of "petit mere", describing the various small lakes in the area or, according to British Encyclopaedia in a rather more blunt manner, a "whimsical name created in 19th century for a model village".

Whatever, Durham is always lovely. With the Uni, it's so vibrant and the riverside walk is wonderful.

                  durham.jpg

A two hours riverside walk, a nice meal, some shopping, no haircut (in the only open salon the Lady told me that the hairdresser left early as she was going on holiday and based on my accent, asked if I were Swedish like her friend there, and I ended up using my full whack of two pleasantry sentences in the language with a mental note I should really keep the skill up) , a cheapy Opuntia from the market and no luck in trying to haggle the seller to sell me a cutting of a rather interesting Sedum he had.

Tomorrow it'll be the local shopping centre, my hair needs some serious attention involving scissors. :dunno:

Popped down the seafront for a wander. The lifeboat was out, presumably on a training exercise seeing as they practiced several times driving onto the trailer, going back out, doing a little loop then back on and off the trailer a few times.

I have the utmost respect for these guys and girls. They put their lives at risk to save random strangers and they don't even get paid for doing it.

Just got back from the flicks. Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning.
It was a mega block buster on the edge of your seat thrill ride. 9 out of 10.

As long as you don't do the "So are you going out tonight?" (no) "So do you have any holidays planned?" (no) "Anything special planned for tonight...?" (no) So what's the weather like in... ammm... Norway? (dunno)... Bless the Supercuts folks, I think they are expected to do small talk so perhaps I'm just being awkward. Sorry!

I was always happy to discuss those points but would be even more happy to talk bout my old friend Aristotle's misguided Spontaneous Generation theory (I told him he was wrong ) or discuss the pros and cons of the Tabular Rasa theory. :heehee:
