Your Day (apart from gardening) - what took place? 2023

Thank you @Upsydaisy I hope that you recover from the redness soon. The people that I've seen on the doggie walks have a reaction to dressing also, i didn't think that it was so common.
I haven't been able to get onto here all day, i use my phone so i thought I'd have a go and switch it off and then on and it worked.

 

Out on holiday, up in the Poconos. Lots of Waterfalls to see. Found a You Tube clip of one we went to. Enjoy.

 

Went for a walk in the Trossachs, picked some mushrooms there. Then gave my car its yearly hoovering before a service and MOT this week. Now planning what to eat, I have a lot of winter squash that I need to start making a dent in.

 

I was going to meet a friend for lunch but she wasn't well and couldn't make it, so being as I was all dressed ready to go out I decided to go to an antiques fair in the Nat Bot Gdn of Wales - it's only about 12 miles from here.

It poured down and the stupid car park attendant sent me down the far end of a soggy field to park, even though there were nearer spaces, so when she wasn't looking I doubled back and parked where there was gravell under foot.
Even so my canvas shoes got wet and I squelched around the fair with soaking feet.

The stalls were scattered all over the place, including inside the big glass dome, and none of them had very nice things. It was more like a flea market. I was sorry I'd bothered.

However the ticket was cheaper than a normal one, and lasts for 7 days so can be used any time during the coming week, to go in ... so if there's a dry day I'll take another trip down there and take some autumnal photos

 

Oh dear Michael that was a shame. We've been to a few Antiques Fairs that turned out to be anything but...
.such a disappointment and waste of time.. The bonus prize is your ticket.....looking forward to seeing some pics soon .

She has problems with her spine @Upsydaisy and often can't walk far, or even at all sometimes. The bones in her spine are squeezing the nerves in the spinal cord and it causes lots of pain. She may need an operation soon to relieve the pressure but it is a tricky procedure and there's a 50/50 chance of it either helping or resulting in her being worse off.

 

Got back from trip to the Poconos yesterday. House organizing, laundry etc. food shopping. Getting ready for our next adventure leaving on the 14th for our second home in North Carolina on the river. Then drive to Georgia to spend Thanksgiving with cousins, trying to figure out what foodie treats to take. Or just lots of wine.

 

Morrisons had pork loin on offer so bought a nice piece and made up a cure for it then vacpacked. Should have a nice little ham in about two weeks. If the weather's good I'll smoke it, if not I'll just cook it with the immersion cooker for some nice juicy ham

 

I had my hair cut, looking quite normal now

I empathise with the sitting around having had my left knee replaced and two replacements on my left hip all within a year.

PS Like the cast. At first I though you had green wellies on.

I had a hip replacement in December 2014 due to a fall shearing the neck of the femur cleanly in two (Grade 4) and it healed well in ten weeks following 15 Physio sessions. However, I tripped up a step in the lounge due to a dodgy knee and knocked the stem of the hip replacement through the femur. The knee was replaced in March 2018 and in October went to have the Hip Revision but when opened up it was discovered I had an e-Coli infection in my hip and thigh ... so old hip removed and antibiotic spacer put in for five months and in March 2019 I was clear to have new replacement. The new stem is 30cm long and is within a couple of inches of my knee replacement. So I am metal from hip to below knee. Both knee and hip are without pain and fully functional.

 

Shouldn't brag but my knee was replaced just over 6 weeks ago and it feels fine at the moment, in fact the one I had replaced a year ago is giving me more problems than the new one ATM.
Maybe I over stressed it while the new one was settling in.
