I've been doing some unintentional keep fit exercises this morning.

Started off with dropping the car off at the garage for its service, then leisurely stroll home, about 2 miles. Except it wasn't leisurely because it is so cold out I had to really make it brisk just to generate some body heat.

Got home, literally just got in the door when the garage called. They couldn't find the locking nut thing to get the wheels off. I'd just cleared out the rubbish before taking the car in so I had to search the bin. Luckily I found the locking nut, in amongst a load of sweet wrappers and old conkers and other things whose origins I can't explain. So, knowing the clock was ticking, my car was up on the ramp with mechanics gathered round it waiting, I got my push bike out. Two flatties, so I had to pump them up. Sounds easy enough. Except my bike is a mountain bike with big tyres, so it takes a while and a bit of effort.

Tyres inflated, I rode like a bat out of hell back to the garage to hand over the locking nut, then home again. Wife thought it would be funny to joke that they might call me again soon to say it's all done. They can wait for a bit. I'm having a chill.

Sounds very similar to my day on Wednesday  At least you had a bike to hand.

Good morning had to take the car down to have a new windscreen fitted so I went in a cafe while I waited it was an experience in its self ,had a milky coffee and a bacon sandwich which I shouldn't have had but I thought stuff it I'll eat it and then walk it off;)

There's a professional wrestler I watch on YouTube who gives really down to earth health and fitness advice. He has a saying for people who worry about overindulgence at Christmas. I know it's not Christmas now but it's still relevant. It goes like this.

Don't worry about what you eat at Christmas, just be mindful of what you eat between Christmases.

The sentiment, I think, is basically it doesn't matter if you're a bit naughty once in a while, it makes no difference to anything, it's how you eat most of the time that matters.

I tried going for a walk and I was going to take a few photos but it was too icy and dangerous so I came home. Another wasted day.

Oh John you must see it....it wasn't quite what my friend and I expected. There were lots of laugh provoking moments but the storyline was so heart breaking yet heart warming at the same time . It certainly reinforces the value of good neighbours. :dbgrtmb:

Much better to keep safe Michael, the weather is said to be getting milder. Just hold on for a little longer, you'll soon be able to get out in your garden and enjoy walks again soon.

I could have done with them this afternoon trying to walk up that slope to a scenic path to take some photos.
I don't think they'd take away the sick feeling I've got from this weather though

Looks like it could get a bit warmer over your way in the next day or two, we are still cold over this side of the country.
I dont mind days like today, it was less cold overnight and its been sunny most of the day.
They said on our forecast, (local), it was "bitterly cold" but it was 6c, earlier in the week it was below zero all day, so I dont know what planet they are on.

They never get it right. What they say we're having now has either been and gone, or will arrive in a few hours.

Sunday is said to rise to 7 C here. If it clears the ice I'll be happy
Maybe it will get warmer for you soon too.

                              Air dry claying :)

I need a communal planter for assorted cacti so here it goes- sanding down, moisture proofing and painting to come.
                              cactusplanter.jpg

It's a bit lopsided and will probably lop further when it dries but that's ok. The feeling of working clay is just so much fun. Thoroughly satisfying way to make a mess when it's rubbish outdoors. :)

I've wanted to go for about the last 40 years, but we were never on the Côte d'Azur at the right time of year. A local seniors club has arranged a coach and short stay, and registering as a 'senior' is a small price to pay  Citrus, mimosa and orchids....what a combination!:wub2:
