Next Monday hubby has his hernia repair on his other side. So yesterday we went to the hospital in Edgebaston, the Priory Birmingham to have a mrsa swab and a ECG test because he's over a certain age.
It was early morning and it was still dark, going into Edgebaston the road layout was terrible, the bus lanes would disappear and back again making you in the wrong lane. But we got there, i just went with him to keep him company and the staff were great. Going out he took the wrong turning but it wasn't bad and didn't take any longer, went the way to Cadbury's World, we didn't stop there just wanted to get home. Through Cotterage Solihull and on to Redditch.

At last - common sense prevails:

A trans woman who raped two women before she changed gender will not serve her sentence in a female jail, Scotland's first minister has said.

Went on a 3 mile walk. It was very enjoyable and mild despite being overcast. We stopped off to call in on a friend of mine on the way back. 20230129_103224.jpg 20230129_103345.jpg 20230129_103527.jpg 20230129_104320.jpg 20230129_105021.jpg

Super lazy day here. Both had soaks in the bath this morning. This afternoon watched Puss in Boots, the Last Wish (watched Puss in Boots yesterday) then Beettlejuice. A lazy evening planned too after dinner with the fire stoked up. A real quiet, calm weekend here.

We've enjoyed a super day out today .We left home just after 9 to spend the day wandering and browsing around one of our 2 nearby towns, Southampton. We only had one official appointment and that was soon dealt with leaving us free to enjoy a bit sunshine and sea air.:SUNsmile:

Using a walking app we calculated we've walked almost 7 miles. 20230130_114343.jpg
This area of town holds many happy memories of our much younger dancing days.:)
We use to go dancing and saw many famous bands at the Mecca Ballroom that use to be at the end of the Royal Pier.
We use to catch a boat and go on riverboat shuffles ( floating disco) around the Isle Of Wight...ahhhh those were happy days. Sadly the Royal Pier became in bad repair and the ballroom closed all that remains is the original gate house which is now a restaurant.

I only went to Southampton once ... in July 1963 when we (Sis and I) sailed from there on the SS United States to New York first stopping at Le Havre, France.

I have a relative who used to come across the Atlantic in the 60s with her parents on liners, they came over a few times on the old Queen Elisabeth and also on the United States.

Thank you Upsy. Will look at it later as it is rather long. xx

When we went to Canada in 1950 we went on the Queen Elizabeth (I think). I have a picture of me on the deck and still have a Menu from the United States (very posh with tassels) and a picture of us at the dining table, also one of us about to board it saying goodbye to Auntie, Uncle and Grandad. Pics under the bed in roller container ... may have J pull it out some day.

PS. Maybe I went to Southampton twice.

Had to go to the Farmacia this morning so the Pharmacist could certify I am alive for my Pension. Have to do it every two years for the UK.

Stopped by our Mechanics on the way back to pay for J's Pre-service and IPO/MoT. Paolo said he thinks his Mother has to go yearly and goes to the Post Office. Do you have to do this in the UK?

@Logan How did Hubby's op go yesterday and how is he today?

I've not proven that I'm alive but then if you live here you are probably cropping up at doctors, electoral forms etc. from time to time which suggests you are still alive.

If you leave the country they probably cant track you any other way.
