The Art Group to which I belong had an open day yesterday in their little hut.
Three of my works were on display (although I didn't think they were very good, but I had my arm twisted !)

Some of the art works were for sale, including cards, prints etc, and a nice crowd turned up.
We'd prepared a section for kids to enjoy painting, and everyone had tea coffee and cakes, so it all went well.

This is a painting I did with watercolour pencils. It's an old church on a remote hillside near here.

This is a portrait of an ancestor and it isn't finished, but they wanted to display it as a 'work in progress'.
It has many mistakes which I hope to rectify before I complete it.

I haven't got a photo of my third painting.

Goodness, @Michael Hewett, those are fabulous. :blue thumb: Definitely display standard and I'm sure everyone enjoyed studying them.

Firstly, I love your paintings Michael. You are so talented and I am pleased you have found your long-lost talent. The portrait is incredible. A lovely exhibition and extremely well organised. I am so pleased you have joined this group.

Fantastic @Michael Hewett . You should be very proud of those.

I'd be thrilled if I could produce something as good as that . Big yourself up a bit more ;)

Thanks for your very supportive comments @ViewAhead @Victoria and @fairygirl
Thanks @Victoria, I was slowly becoming a recluse after Beryl died and it was getting me down. I've made friends in the art group and I feel as if I belong in the world again

Glad you're on the mend @Michael Hewett.
You'll get there - just do it at your own pace.
You'll get support here on this forum too, as I'm sure you're aware. I've found in the past that 'talking' to people who aren't physically close to me, ie relatives or friends in the 'real world', was much easier because of the way I am. That slight detachment was key

Well my goodness, that is quite a talent you have there @Michael Hewett! I am one of those people that struggle to draw breath let alone draw anything with a pencil, so find it quite amazing how folks like yourself can create such wonderful art.

Today as part of Heritage Open Days we visited Dawes Twine Works in West Coker, Somerset. We have been here many times and each time we are amazed at the work that has been done mainly by the fabulous volunteers. Loads of visitors and great to see so many smiling faces. They are now starting to make Coker sailcloth again but have to import the hemp from Italy whilst they used to be able to use what was grown locally. Fascinating place.

I had to bring OH to the railway station at 7:30 in the middle of the heaviest rain. Decided to go directly to Cirencester for a nice breaki. Heavily raining, I arrived in one piece at the car park.
Attempt 1 to pay failed: Merchant refused
Half soaked back to the car, quickly checked my bank account, I knew it can’t be me.
                            Attempt 2: Merchant refused :scratch::scratch:
Walked all the way to the other side of the car park, meanwhile completely soaked.
Attempt 3: Take your card out :mad::mad:

Arrived at the farm shop, had to wait until 9. Once open , I headed to the cafe and asked to check my card, and told the story.
Yes, she said, that happened to many in the recent days.
I had to order an almond twist, the only thing I could eat appart from cake on empty stomach, and a flat white.
It tasted wonderful and I was happy that it was not my card :):):)

That's a good talent @Bluejayway . I can't even find my parents' birth certificates. Local authority boundary changes for starters......

@Michael Hewett your artwork is really beautiful and your exhibition day with tea, cakes and kids' activities sounds like very happy, social occasion amongst friends.

@On the Levels we've just changed our hens' bedding to chipped hemp so somebody's growing it. The agronomic sciences university up the road fromwhere we livved in Belgium was growing experimental fields of hemp to test for varieties, cultivation and uses.

They had to put a sign up to say ther was no point stealing it as it didn't have cannabis properties!
