Last night we went to the Palace Theatre, Manchester to watch Billie Elliot, really good show, wasn't sure what to expect, as I think the film is really good.

IMG_0532.JPG We have been up our loft again this morning to have another clear out of rubbish and stuff we haven't used in donkeys years and are not likely to use in the foreseeable future so we are going to upset the recycling man again today as he said yesterday that we should keep the stuff up our loft (just because it meant he had to do a bit of work:rasp:)

We have been good though and have got boxes for the metal items, small electrical items, plastic containers etc so we have done half their job for them:snorky:

We are also putting stuff in boxes to go to the local charity shop again although a friend of ours in the village said that the animal rescue centres are desperate for funds so we might let them have the stuff to sell this year instead of the Air Ambulance shop:smile:

Have had to come down for a hot drink as it is blimming freezing cold up there and as the rain has now stopped we can load the car up with the stuff as well as cardboard boxes we can't compost as there is too much sellotape and sticky labels on them:snorky:

Went shopping for food this morning, came home and made chocolate cornflake cakes with my daughter. Now cooking roast chicken dinner. I was going to do some sorting in the garage, but it's miserable outside and I'm now sitting with a drink watching snooker.

CL1.1 agreed to give his old bike that he's grown out of to CL1.2. So as 1.2 is only 3, I thought we'll make it into one of those balance bikes with no pedals. They're all the rage now, it teaches kids to control a pushbike by sitting on it and steering as normal, but scooting instead of pedalling. It gets them riding much sooner. So it was off with the pedals, crank, chain, chain guard, crank bearings and any other redundant weight. Then seat as low as it goes, then test. Disaster. 1.2 is literally about an inch too short. He can get his feet down on tip toes, but there's no way he can balance it yet, so the bike has been consigned to the outhouse until summer.

1.1 and I went for a bike ride in the woods. 1.2 and the wife walked.

Then home to allow myself to feel smug about the spaghetti bolognese I made for tea. I feel smug because I bought a massive bag of beef bones from the butcher's for 50p the other day. I boiled a load for hours, and froze the rest. One pan give me 6 cups of good stock, and I filtered off the fat to get a whole tub of lovely cooking fat. And I picked out enough tiny bits of good beef to fill a small bowl, certainly enough for today's spaghetti bolognese. So I'm smug because it has so far been a successful venture into old fashioned zero waste practices.

Pure acid :dbgrtmb:. It's kept in a cupboard that doesn't get cold and is inside a polystyrene container. :)

Couldn't afford acid at the Farmers' Co-Op at the prices they charged. Didn't fancy shredding the body as Zigs suggested. Body had gone all black and smelly so wheeled the wheely bin down into the wood (Have you ever tried to wheel a bin down a gravelly forest path? Well, don't !! ) Dumped it in a pond, tight in under a Rhododendron bush so hopefully it'll never be found. And I hope none of you tell on me ! ! !

Glad that's the end of the matter. (Don't ever get involved in body disposal.) :) :) :)

                            Back to gardening tomorrow. :) :) :)
