Went and picked up 5 2.4m really thick strong, sturdy mesh panels that someone was giving away on local FB page. Need them to go on top of the chicken run. The run is under the apple tree and the falling apples have broken the clear plastic sheets. I need to replace the roof so that they are dry and then fit the mesh to protect it.

40 barquettes of assorted curries tucked away in the freezer. Now de-seeding and grinding this year's chillies for powder. A lovely, warming job for a grey, miserable day. Especially when you forget not to touch any exposed skin :campfire:

On Christmas Eve in 1996 I was working in a shop in Blackpool. We were not allowed to leave until we had finished putting up the posters for the Boxing Day sale. Eventually I was free to make the 3 hour drive back to Peterborough. I got home just in time to join in with family and friends that were going to the pub. We may have attended midnight mass at the local church but as I had no doubt had a few beers by then, I couldn't be sure either way.

Today, I finished work at 5.30 and drove home for about 20 minutes. I had my tea and then fell asleep. I don't think it will be long before I go to bed.

                      How things have changed.

                      G.

Since the kids, son and granddaughter like to hang out in the cellar with the big screen, I decided to do something about the temperature down there. It is not "finished" down there and a little chilly as the forced air vents can't compete with the non insulated walls below the frost line. Y

Yes, 78 sheets of wallboard waiting to be used and which I had already shifted once to make room for other things but.. Anyway, I moved a bunch of stuff from in front of a gas fireplace in the corner. It has never been used. I had it installed about 20 years ago and never got around to firing it up. So this morning I removed the glass front which is 32"w × 36"h, the biggest faced one I could buy here. As the instructions told me, sparked the pilot, got her going, put the facade back in and voila, the area is cozy. Told son to figure out the remote and program it to only run just before they go down there and off when they are going to bed.

Then when I realized I was on a roll, I tinkered with the Dacor downvent behind my cooktop and got it to stop being such a beast to activate.

And I did some maintenance to my pressure cooker.

                              :)
