We haven't seen our son since the first lockdown. He didn't want to chance it on public transport from Worcester. We were hoping for him to visit before Christmas but he's not sure that he will have the booster on time because he has the flu at the moment, even though he had the flu jab, it could be another variant. We used to see him twice a year.

Oh that's a shame as he's fairly close by too:sad:.

Our lot rely on public transport as well. They wanted us to be both double jabbed before they came down last July , especially as hubs is in his 70's and suffered a really bad and prolonged chest infection a couple of years ago. We've seen them all since and they are all very good and take Covid Tests before they see us just to make sure.

Perhaps if your son tested himself regularly that would reassure you all.:dbgrtmb:

Yes he's going to get a test today, thanks:dbgrtmb:. I remember you saying that yours use public transport.:dbgrtmb:
The thing is about public transport he gets the buss at Worcester and have to change at Bromsgrove to get here at Redditch and then another buss to get here. He's used the train before but it's the same thing, Worcester to Birmingham and then here. Or Worcester to Bromsgrove then here and then another buss to our house. There was a coach that he used to use on a Saturday but they stopped it. That was straight from Worcester to here. They keep changing the timetable for the trains and buses.
At least we'll see him after Christmas and I'll send his card through the post like he will with ours.

Aw thats a shame ,could your hubs not pick him up ??
We had a similar dilemma back in July as one of our sons and his girlfriend live the other side of London so they have a combination of bus and train journeys just to reach Waterloo or Clapham Junction. Hubs seriously considered driving up there and picking them and the others up..before realising that with the girlfriends they wouldn't all fit in the car!!
So as we didn't want to pick some up and not the others we left them to make their way down as normal.

Where they live they don't need a car, plus for one parking would prove an issue. However 2 of them were embarking on driving lessons before Covid hit because they would then be able to hire a car as and when they need one. Might be an idea for your son if public transport is proving a problem.

He can drive but won't buy a car because there's no secure place to park it. I have thought about asking hubby but I'm not sure about that.
            Thanks.

These Social Care reforms by Boris. They're a good thing aren't they? People keep more of their assets. Why are Labour going to vote against the reforms? Or is this just the usual Labour position of opposing anything that Boris says?

Thanks but no, he wants to see the dogs as well and he's not allowed dogs in his flat because they're too noisy, cats yes but not dogs. Thank you for thinking about it, it was a great idea.:)

Yesterday we saw a Crime Investigation programme on the murders comitted In Cold Blood by Truman Capote so today we watched the movie as neither of us have read the book.

I worded that incorrectly ... Truman Capote did not commit the murders, he wrote the book.

No worries, I realised that after Googling. I tried my library ( online ) to get the book but all they had was his biography.

Today got a letter from the NHS asking me if I would like to participate in a free to survey. I would give some blood to detect early signs of cancer. They want to know if it works or not. Go to one of those mobile cabins that they use for breast screening. So I said yes it will be local and on the 29th of December.

Good on you @Logan , yes I had heard about these trials being rolled out earlier in the year. I'm participating in a Dementia one that will last about 6 years , I am especially involved with all things in this area as my younger brother has Early Alzheimer's..
I think we should all get involved in whatever comes our way as it's the only way to gather vital info ,which one day hopefully will lead to cures.:fingers crossed:

That's great @Upsydaisy and yes as long as the test is local I'm all for it, it will take 5 years for the outcome.
Hubby had a invite to have a abdominal aortic aneurysm test that he's going to on the 10th of next month now that he's turned 65.
